Timber

The collie ran breathlessly over the ground, sucking in great drafts of air that stung his lungs and noise. His eyes were blazed with red streaks from his grief and the biting cold as he ran. His father was dead now too, murdered by Taijya and Whisper. Halting at the top of the Canyon, the collie poured forth his misery and grief like he had done so once before. He wondered this time if a friendly stranger would be there to mend his tattered soul. He wished beyond anything else that Shimmer were hear.

Somewhere far out in the valley came another cry, desperate and wild. It was his mother, who now realized that her life-long mate had perished.


Becca

The hybrid followed her brothers scent takign her time. She lumbered along like a bear. But it wasn't heavy weight bearing her down into these heave foot steps but sadness. Becca came up beside him silently letting herself sink to a layign down position her front paws over the edge. She joined him in releasing sorrow her song more like a wolf song and could be easily mistaken for one.


Timber

He howled on longer with Becca, pouring out his grief to all that could hear. He still vowed revenge and wouldn't rest without it. For a long while afterwards, he remained silent and brooding, but it was a comfort that Becca was with him. He didn't feel so lonely. But he wished with all his heart that Shimmer were still around, and thought she must be out there somewhere.

Suddenly his ears perked up as a sound came to them. Then a familiar scent. The collie glanced to Becca, "Smell that? It's a horse..." Collie instinct took hold abit and he stood up, sniffing intently. Then he headed off to find the source.
