Zhener
The wedge-tailed eagle soared low over the ground, struggling to maintain flight while clutching a rather large prize in his powerful talons. It was the remains of a deer killed by a car. And it was the back half, minus one leg and quite a bit of flesh.
The foreigner to these lands dropped the meal and landed nearby. In a wadling step, he moved over to his food and began to eat.
Distract
A fearless specter drifted towards the mysterious winged fiend. He eyed its feathery pinions, then allowed his frigid gaze to drift to the juicy morsel dripping savory red blood onto the ground. A growl resonated deep within the muscular cavity that shrouded heart and lungs.
Physique:
Distract is an incredibly large wolf, some believe that he is a direct descendant of the dire wolf and although that is just a bunch of nonsense, Distract still likes to let them think that he is a dire wolf. He has huge paws; each equipped with five perfect switchblade-looking claws. His canine teeth are long, white, curved half moons that protrude slightly from his mouth. His coat is a thick, luxurious pure black except for two white markings, one on each shoulder, that look like a leaf. His body is more muscular than most wolves, causing him to be a little slower, but he makes up for his lack of speed with sheer strength. His legs are also slightly shorter than the normal wolf, too, but still he is the size of a large pony or small horse and towers over most other wolves. His tail is short and thick, as is customary for “true” wolves that are pure wolf. His strikingly blue eyes do not reflect light and appear to be almost human.
Zhener
The eagle looked up sharply, giving a defiant, piercing stare back to the lupine. He may be new to these lands, but he knew what a growl was. And it was only a few months ago, in exactly this place, where some wolves tried to steal his meal. "Back off, I'm varning you!" he hissed out, arching his six-foot wingspan out and dipping his head down. "You are a mean volf, it sounds." he pointed out, trying to assess the situation better and make sure he wasn't mistaken on the wolf's intents.
Maura
*Maura had caught the scent of something she could eat and she growled from behind the large bird. she had lowered her head hackles raised and tail also raised in alppha position towards the bird. her fangs flashing in the sun. Her black coat flashed in the light and her red eyes flared up with hunger.*
Zhener
Zhener turned his sharp eyes towards the new arrival, "I am varning you! I vill keel you!" His voice was a threatening his. "Come any closer, and I'll attack!" The large eagle arched his wings higher and slowly rocked his body from side to side, ready for action.
Maura
right. I'm stronger then i apear. i doubt you could kill me. *she snarled and made herself look larger than she was.*
Zhener
He hissed deeply, "I keel creature larger zhen you! Don't underestimate me!" His firey eyes glared defiantly back at her, although he kept aware of the other too.
Distract
Ebony overlord watches the heated scene playing out before him like some eccentric movie. Impish grin plays across the obsidian countenance of the amused brute. He sees his chance, and takes it. Agile movements carry him to the bird's kill, jaws snapping around the meat. A burly paw swings out before he recoils, trying to catch the bird with deadly switchblades.
Zhener
Zhener was all to accustom to taking attacks from behind. Swift little birds were always out to get him while he was flying. Seeing Distract come forward, Zhener did a maneuver that was usually preformed in the sky. With a powerful spring of his legs, he twirled to his side and struck out with his long legs and razor-sharp talons. They would easily puncture the flesh of his paw to the bone, but Distrac's own canine claws could do little but scratch the eagle's feathers and perhaps his skin. "I varned you!" the enraged eagle screetched out, ready to tear up this thief to get his food back.
Distract
Distract laughed at the bird's miniscule talons as they raked across his luxurious coat, tearing into his warm flesh. Blood trickled down his chest but he ignored it, slinking into the shadows to wait and see what would happen next.
Maura
*It was her turn now. She came in swiftly from behind Zhener but quikly fiented and started to circle him at a fast pace. everynow and then she lunged at him. faked. the lunged again this time it was real. she lunged in. jaws snapping at the large birds left wing. she launched herself out again. she lunged in again towards his face. feinting she lunged for his right wing before launching out again. dsodge attack. dodge and attack.*
Distract
Distract joined the cautious attack. Dodge and attack. It was a good strategy. He moved opposite of the banshee, making grabs for the bird's meal or for the bird itself whenever the opportunity arose. Mostly his own moves were just meant to confuse the bird so the femora could attack.
Zhener
Zhener could defend himself from perhaps one wolf on the ground, but two was another story. Once Distract had first backed off and the other fae came at him in a feigned attacked, the large eagle took to the sky. Now he was in his domain. Back in his homeland, he and his fellow eagles could take down kangaroos and other such prey larger than themselves. And at the whim of the humans, some of his kind had been used to hunt wolves.
Circling low over his meal and the two lurking predators, Zhener made dives at him, aiming for their faces with his talons and beak. He had experience with fending off dingos and strays, and with any large creature, he aimed for the eyes.
Distract
Distract watched the eagle take wing. He growled with anger, letting the noise rise as high as the eagle, letting anyone within earshot know of his displeasure. Still, with the help of the banshee they could probably get at least the eagle's meal. It wouldn't be much, but it was something.
Maura
*she had atleast got some injuries on the large bird. As it took to the sky she lowered her head to protect her eyes better. She listened to the air drafts from his wings quikyl learning when they were near. As he dove to attack her eyes with his talos she leapt into the air to grab the large birds leg. She kept her eyes closed to protect them from any injury like blindness. She snapped down after on quik look trying to pulled the bird down with her to the ground.*
Zhener
Zhener kept a keen observation of the snapping jaws, knowing that they were the primary weapon the canines. The eagle lifted his rather long, feathered limbs out of Maura's emediate reach when she lunged for him. As he heard the clink of her jaws snapping shut on empty air, narrowly missing their target, he lashed his talons forward to strike her in the face. Eyelids were no match against talons longer than a grizzly's claws and powered by legs that could drive those weapons through the skull of another eagle.
Maura
*She yelped and quikly dropped to the ground quikly. this gave her less injury since she had dropped quikly with her weight. they could always grab the meat and outrun the bird.*
Zhener
He gave a fierce cry and wheeled higher up. Narrowing his wedgy tail and slanting his wings, the eagle took a sharp dive at the large brute this time, striking out for the face and arching down his neck to slash out with his beak. Whether he was successful in his attack or not, he wheeled swiftly towards Maura to do the same attack. As always, Zhener was cautious to keep his sharp eyes on the jaws so that a quick turn or thrust of his legs could carry or propell his vulnerable wings and body from their deadly clutches. With over ten years experience of stealing dingo pups and guarding nests, he was very skilled with his attacks.
"Geet outta 'ere! Moochers! Steal ozher food, it burried in zhe ground sometimes!" Apart from being a hunter, Zhener was always on the lookout for a free meal. He had just recently realized that he could steal from wolf caches if they weren't buried deep enough and if he could see the marks they left in burrying the food. "Look on zhe roads! I vill tear your eyes out if you don't leave!"
Distract
Angered by the eagle's vulgar dialogue, the onyx brute ignored the scratch of hideous bird-claws upon his muscular shoulders and snatched up the bird's meal in his powerful jaws. He had waited long enough for Maura to make a wise move, now it was his turn. He turned sharply, like a Quarter Horse working barrels, and bolted into an area of low brush, where the bird would have a great deal of difficulty getting to his eyes. Although the vegetation was sparse, it could still offer some minor protection for Maura as well. "Must be quicker than that feather face." he taunted.
Maura
*She was quik on her paws turning on her hind pads and was dashing off into the sparce vegetation. * Come on you great winged vulture. just give up.*Mauras red eyes flashed with malice at the moment.*
Zhener
He gave an ear-peircing cry and dove for the vegetation, but pulled back before hitting anything, "Vhy don't you give up?" was his harsh retorted, diving again so that his talons raked the leafless twigs of the brush they hid in. "Scared to face a bird! You better vhatch yourselves from now on! I vill attack you vhenever I see you!" But he knew this was becoming a real waste of energy, and only for a rotted portion of deer. "Go ahead, 'ave your 'fill', but you vill alvays vatch zhe skies around 'ere!" With powerful beat of his dark brown wings, the large eagle soared higher into the sky. Angling his wings down, he rocketed out of sight as he dropped below the canyon and further into the valley.
Maura
mission acomplished. she chuckled and sat on her hinds tail in a slightly submissive position to the slightly larger male. thoguh ears erect just incase the large bird came back.*
Distract
The direwolf licked his wounds, sitting on muscular haunches above the large slab of deer meat. He watched the femme fatale with weary eyes. But he was tired. "You first milady." he said, smiling at her subtle display of submission, and offering her the meat. He would take whatever was left.
Maura
*she didn't need much and took par of the meat near thetail before she inched back never turnign her back on him lowering to the ground she started to just slowly eat it to savorthe taste. she wasn't one to talk alot.*
Distract
The large obsidion direwolf took the remaining portion of meat and folloed the banshee's example, not one to talk either.
Maura
Maura finished and sat up straight waiting for Distract to finish. When he did she spoke. "I'm Maura, you are?"
