Vayelle
The wolfess stalked through the canyon, her head low and senses on high alert as she tracked her quarry. She had been following the scent of a deer herd for a good few miles now, and finally the scent was getting stronger. Then, she spotted them. Well, it. A fawn had been seperated from the main herd, and it bleeted feebly as it frantically searched for it's family. "Mom?" it cried, trotting round, calling out. Vayelle froze, ducking down behind some boulders on the canyon floor. The fawn came to a stop, clearly tired, but skittish. Vayelle seized her chance, and rushed from behind the boulder. The fawn bolted, but it's fatigue reduced its speed. Vayelle flew forward like a bullet, and her jaws seized the fawn's rear leg. Pulling hard, she pulled the fawn down, ending the chase. She quickly dropped it's leg, that had snapped on impact, and wrapped her jaws around it's throat.
Suddenly, there was an enraged bellow from behind her. The fawn's cries had alerted it's father, and the stag raced forward while the does ran towards her. She refused to let go, but the stag's horns were getting closer, and it would not be long before they gored her.
Valian
A low, gutteral growl echoed through the canyon, as a black figure charged for the raging stag. It was foolish to take on a fully grown stag alone, but this was no ordinary wolf. Using the speed of the stag to his advantage, Valian ran towards it, then, as he got closer, began to zig-zag erratically. The stag lifted its head briefly to try and spot the wolf, but Valian struck at that exact moment. His fangs met the stags throat, and the speed of the impact drove them deeply into his throat. Blood spurted from the pierced veins and arteries, splattering Valian's face, and the stag fell forward, pulled down by the wolf's weight. The stag landed on Valian's paw, crushing it, but he did not let go. Eventually, the struggles died down, and he released the dead deer. With the stags death, the rest of the deer herd fled.
Valian stood, uninterested in the meat, and turned to face Vayelle and her fawn. His haunting yellow eyes swept over her, and they were filled with raw power, untamable and dangerous. "Next time you should quit while you're ahead and drop the fawn," he advised, his voice as deep and vicious as his growl and attack.
Vayelle
Vayelle considered bolting, but she was so close to killing the fawn, and she was starving, she felt she could hold on just a bit longer. Then, the snarl cut through the air. Vayelle watched in awe as Valian took down the stag on his own and saved her life. When he turned to look at her, she couldn't help but flinch at his stare.
"...Who are you?" she asked, her voice soft, but icy, as she dropped her dead fawn, and sized up Valian.
