Along came the human, girl in tow, up the canyon and down his entrance to his cave. If the wolves did not follow, the human would not live. She was a present to them and nothing more. It was the cruel way his mind worked. He despised humans equally but could tolerate them to an extent if need be. She was lucky he had not went through one of his... spells with the little encounter or she'd be dead. What spells? Oh you know, the type where adrenaline starts to race through you like a pack of rabid cheetahs chasing after the last meal on earth, that kind of adrenaline rush. Never felt it? Not uncommon, his rushes are strange, deranged, and irrational. He can think, clearly? No clearly would be like wearing a contact lense, no matter where you look, everything will be clear. This kind of clear was like a looking through glasses made of coffee straws. You can see one thing, if lucky, and one thing only. And the only thing he can see is prey. If he can see it and it moves, it must die. That is his rush. How do you stop it... you don't, there is no way to stop it... my deepest appologies for you loss haha.
Upon entering the cave he dug through his large pack and pulled out a small padded sleeping bag. The back side was well padded with thick cotton while the top was thinner and easy to move. Finishing up the bedding he grabbed a small gray-brown box and brought it to her. Taking a cloth and dipping it in a clear potent liquid. With this he clensed the wounds and washed up the bruises. And then that needle with the clear liquid was filled and he began multiple shots on the deepest of wounds. Then pulled out a strange looking needle and a strange thread. Feeding through he began to sew up what needed to be sewn up. As if she were cloth he went about the sewing. When one was done, he clipped and died the string, then went to the next till all was done.
When nursing was done he laid her down and covered her for the cold breath of night. Looking out of the cave he whistled for Voa and Zypher. They needed mending as well.
He was silent as he arrived, and moving past Siren he lay down near the back wall of the cave, his eyes bright and alert.
It was nearly an hour after they arrived before the girls eyes opened. Well, actually they didn't open just yet. She lay there a moment, her eyes slitted open just barely. She kept her breathing soft and even, as if she were still out but she took in her surroundings as best she could. A man. A dog. A very...Wolfish looking dog. Darkness. Pain. A weaker person would have screamed from the agony she was feeling, but still she made no noise. She'd speak when she was good and ready. For now, she'd pretend she didn't speak at all. Mo< Silently, she assessed the damage. Two broken ribs, from all the kicking of Sam no doubt. Her face was pretty banged up, two black eyes and a split lip. Her collar bone was a bit tender, probably got kicked once or twice as well. Jesus I'm a mess. She thought silently. Slowly she sat up, pressing her back to the cave wall so that she could keep Siren in her eye sight at all times. But as she did so, she heard the low growl of the canine.
Zypher stood slowly, a low growl in his throat. He had let her live, his master said she could but she'd abide by the rules. She'd have to. Yellow eyes turned to Siren, as if to say Now what?
Sitting at the mouth of the cave, Atticus took up a keen interest in Siren's actions, though he tried his best to look uninterested. If anyone looked his way, he'd shift his golden eyes elsewhere and pretend to be brooding.
Tall ears perked up at the man's whistle, though Atticus didn't move into the cave. He was desperately thin and carried a significant limp, but he wasn't about to let another human touch him. After a long look to Siren, Atticus stood and sauntered a few paces away from the mouth of the cave until he came to a small current bush. With one last glance at the man, Atticus stretched out under the sprawling branches and closed his eyes.
By the time she had woken up, he had placed every bit of first aid into the gray box. The wolves did not want healing, they would not get healing. Their choice. He prodded the fire, half asleep in his thoughts. He was still dressed, still fully dressed so that only his hands and face were shown. But even that little of skin revealed a little more than what was wanted to be seen. His hand had multimple scars and burns. From her point of view, A scar across his cheek and under his chin could be seen. He did not turn to her. Yellow eyes fixed on the flame as she moved about to check her damage.
"You shouldn't move. Not until morning." He spoke to her, He was silent for a while, not attempting to speak to her for the while then continued. "When the sun comes up we can wrap your ribs to keep unwanted movements from further damaging them. If they are hit the wrong way, they can puncture a lung."
He never faced her, never looked at her though listened to Zypher's growls. If she checked herself, all of her weapons had been removed. He wouldn't have her attempting anything stupid if she woke before he during the night.
Taking a drink, from a large waterskin, he wiped his brow of dirt then pulled out a bowl and filled it half way with water. Leaving it only feet from where he sat. Next to Hunter's bed was a smaller skin, bloated with cool liquid to drink.
She wasn't exactly paying attention, not with Sirens wolfish dog thing coming towards her. Go see him, I want nothing to do with you. Wait...DAMN! She had spoken. When Zypher kept coming closer, she went to reach for her-Wait. Where was it?! Panicked, Hunter searched her entire body looking for the rest of her carefully hidden knives and daggers. Zypher seemed to see her panic, and was fed by it. He came closer, his growls low and deep in his throat as her eyes met his. Oh shit... All she could think for she had nothing to protect herself with.
Call your dog off! She said to Siren, her eyes still meeting Zyphers. She pressed her back more firmly against the wall behind her, her eyes going from Zypher, to Siren, to Voa. There was no way out. No way of escape. Her arm was burning, her breathing shallow so that her ribs wouldn't hurt as bad. Looks like she'd have to lie to get out of her. Look, I'm fine really. You didn't have to bring me back here. I won't tell anyone. Besides, my parents will be wondering where I am if I don't get back soon. Liar. Such a good liar. She had no parents. No family. Nothing.
He heard the growling and the panic. He waited with a smirk on his lips as Zypher closed in on the human. He said nothing as the wolf made its move, hearing her please only fed his own fire until she spoke of parents. His teeth gritted for a moment, in a normal human, the feel of pain would have presented, but through him washed a lava flow of emense hate. Lifting his head slowly from its thought he stood and turned to the girl as well as the wolf. The dark shadows, created by the fire, hid his face; leaving only the silhouette shapes of him. Although they could not be seen, the feeling of his daunting eyes could be felt. "Parents wouldn't let a kid they love roam around this late at night. And I know you didn't recieve all your injuries from those humans, some of wounds weren't fresh."
He grinned. "You would have been killed if the wolves didn't want you alive. Though I shouldn't have let you live... You were a good waste of catgut. That shit is hard to harvest." He sighed reaching into his hind pocket and retrieving a silver scaled dagger. Removing the sheath slowly to reveal the twisted blade.
Her eyes seemed to glitter, and she sent a kick at Zypher, who merely side stepped. Frustration coursed through her, and she stood. She wished she hadn't. Her vision faded for a moment, and she leaned hard on the wall but she would not back down. And if my parents don't love me, but instead use me? She asked Siren softly. Still not true, but anything to be let go. Then she thought of the last part of his statement. Wait...Catgut? What the hells that? So she still wasn't used to the streets, or living n them but she really was trying.
The brute sized up what little competition he was to face with this inferior. "They will not miss you. Nor shall anyone else you know. Though by the looks of what occurred, you don't know many that would be distraught if you were gone." His words turned to a slithering hiss for a split second as his armed hand twitched the unsheathed blade. Sending a small glint of light across his glaring yellow eyes.
"Catgut? hemph. The kind you are wearing right now would be boar intestines. They will disintegrate after the wound has healed. I prefer the use of cattle, they seem to be the strongest." He looked down to the wolf and then up to the girl. "If you leave now, You would not get very far before a stray bullet were to find you. If that is what you wish to press you luck on; by all means, be my guest." enjoyment. He enjoyed the torment, trapping another creature in a corner to watch its thoughts irrationalize until it makes the wrong move and become to vulnerable to protect itself.
Trying to look bored and unconcerned about the two humans behind him, curiousity eventually got the better of the hybrid. Acting as though he were merely stretching out, Atticus shifted onto his side and turned about so that he was laying parallel with the cave's enterence. Half-opened eyes gazed casually into the darkness, easily able to pick out the forms of his brother and the two humans.
"I wonder what they're talking about." He mused aloud, trying to get a response from Faute. All the while, he watched the humans, following their every subtle movement; from the way their eyes moved, to the little creases of skin when they made their various facial expressions. It all seemed so cryptic!
Her eyes were cool and calm, as she slid back down the wall. Her strength was slipping from her and tough she tried not to, her eyes began drifting shut. Thats just...Nasty... She murmered softly to Siren. There was a faint smile on her face, but it disappeared as a fit of coughing hit her. She laid down, her eyes still closed as she struggled for breath. So tired. She just felt....So tired.
Faute glared at the girl, then moved back to his original spot in the back of the cave. Yeah. Was his reply to his brother. Simple and to the point.
He watched her as she began to lose herself to weakness. Brushing himself off and then turning to the fire. Alternating the wood so that the flames could get more oxygen. Only when the girl fell asleep, would he. He felt to vulnerable in the unconscious, even as a light sleeper. He felt sleep was weakness but knew it was natural.
He would wait, The girl would have to sleep sometime.
As the icy claws of dawn began to outstretch for their show. Sirens eyes flitted up and he shook the sleep from his eyes. He looked to the girl and growled somewhat under his breath then rose and began to sharpen up a knife. Then walked to the edge of the cave and jumped down. "Voa, Zypher, Stay." He growled without looking at them. They had to keep an eye on the girl. "I'll bring back food, if you stay you get your treat." He grumbled to them then disappeared behind the brush.
