Coyote/Sonora
Coyote (mare) arrived at the edge of the cliff. Sonora (female wolf) Looked at the ground below. "This is nice." Said Sonora.
"It's also very high..." Added Coyote, "I don't really like the look of this." Coyote backed up. She looked at all the other horses. Sonora stepped closer to the cliff. A rock shifted and her leg slipped. She yelped in pain. Coyote rushed to her and pulled her up by the tail. She neighed for help.
Icefall, Glaze, & Blackberry
Three mares, traveling on their own for over a year now, picked up the sounds of another in distress. The dominant mare of the bunch was a large Orlov Trotter named Icefall. Her coat was white with freckles of slate-gray on her neck and chest, while mane and tail were deep gray.
The next female, Glaze, was a mix-breed Lusitano with a pale gray hide and dusty-colored mane and tail. And the last one, Blackberry, was dappled black and dark gray- A Hackney crossbreed.
Ears pricked forward, Icefall led the other two along the canyon terrain until she spotted Coyote and Sonora. "What is going on here?" The mare questioned, her ears pinned back in alarm and agression when she spotted the wolfess. She didn't know that the two were friends. Glaze and Blackberry drew closer, their eyes trained mainly on Sonora, fearful of the predator.
Coyote/Sonora
The shy mare replied to them, "My friend hurt her leg and I do not know how to help her. Can you help us?"
Sonora whined.
Icefall, Glaze, & Blackberry
Her eyes widened a bit at the question, help a wolf?. But she had to admit, there were plenty of nice dogs she had known before she escaped the humans. Maybe this wolf was nice like those dogs?
"You're in luck, my friend." The mare replied at last, decided it was better to make friends than enemies, "There is an old lady who lives down at the other end of the Valley; she can heal the wolf's wounds."
Glaze bobbed her head, "She helps all sorts of animals. We can show you where she lives, if you'd like."
Coyote/Sonora
"Take me there." Said Coyote. She bent down so Sonora could get on her back. The wolf's injury was painful, but she climbed onto the mare's back. Coyote stood up.
Icefall, Glaze, & Blackberry
Blackberry shivered when the wolf climbed on Coyote's back. Personally, the young and wild-spirted mare couldn't stand having anything on her back. No human had ever riden her before, and probably never would.
Icefall gave a light nod, "Follow me. It won't take too long." The three mares began to head south.
Coyote/Sonora
Coyote nodded and followed them.
