Adulthi

Life was good, and Adulthi had little to complain about. She would love nothing more than to find a mate, but that could wait another year or two... in the meantime, it was great to lay around and bask in the sun all day and stalk with the shadows at night. Nothing to hold her back, not a care in the world.

With a pale coat of tan, laced with intermidant rosettes, the hybrid cat blended quite well with the surroundings, even if she was a one-of-a-kind creature. Yawning lazily, she draped herself over a flat granite rock shelf and drifted into sleep.

*Plane*

A small aircraft came roaring out from the canyon, angling sharply from side to side as it manuevered past jutting cliff faces and narrow passes. The small, yellow airplane nosed upwards, soaring out of from between the steep cliffs as it rose past all the trees. Then it banked sharply to the side as it came out towards the valley, heading straight for the granite outcropping where the hybrid cat lay. Without warning, a storm of bullets were shot at Adulthi from the roaring plane...

Adulthi

She woke quickly as the plane came sweeping towards her. With an indignant hiss, she crouched on the rock, watching the craft for a few minutes before turning to slink into the brush. About that time, the bullets hailed down. With a piercing cry, she felt the metal sear into her flesh, causing her to tumble head over heels off the granite shelf and strike the ground heavily below. Picking herself up in a flash, Adulthi bolted for a line of nearby pine trees, leaving a fresh trail of blood to mark her path. She waited there for only a few moments before headed south down the canyon, towards the Croal Mountains.
