The coyote exited the den for a moment to look around. She saw no danger nearby. The only other canine she saw besides her newborn pups was her older daughter, Taija. Shield should be around here somewhere as well.
The mother stretched herself and sat down at the opening of the den.
Inside the hole, safe from predators and the colder temperatures, Rowan and Isabel slept silently, cuddled up with their siblings.
Vale was picky and whiny, squirming and demanding a spot next to Tahti first, nursing ravenously. Vale huddled close to Tahti's warmth.
Bria and Summit where rather quiet, but soon got their spot next to Tahti, nursing before sleeping deeply.
Tahti called out to Taija. "Alert me if you see a stranger." She said to the young hybrid, then returned to the den and curled around her newborn pups.
Windsong had come to see his newborns. He trotted across the forest floor so effortlessly, white fur blazing as he broke into a easy jog. When he saw Taija, he stopped. "I am Windsong, father of Tahti's newborns." Windsong called out.
Vale snuggled close and closed his eyes, Bria and Summit on either side of him.
Taija took a step forward when she saw the male. "Greetings, Windsong. I am Taija, daughter of Tahti and Tommy. You may see my mother." She stepped aside to allow Windsong to pass.
Tahti exited the den when she heard her one-time mate's voice. "I didn't think you'd come back." She said with a smile.
Windsong smiled sweetly and stared at Tahti, smirking to her comment. "Heh, well I just came by to see the future warriors." Windsong replied sweetly, white tail wagging. "How many where born, Tahti?" Windsong did not know the pups in which he fathered, had been born disabled. He expected strong ones like Forbidden or Shadi, or Delta or Rex. Somewhere along those lines. Of course, he had to remember they were half-coyote, yet that made no difference to Windsong.
Tahti kept her smile until Windsong wanted to see the pups. She feared that he would want to kill them due to their disabilities. "There are five. One thing you have to know is that they are disabled. I am sure they will be strong warriors, though." She explained, moving aside so the wolf could look at the pups.
Windsong felt taken aback by Tahti's news, but only smiled lightly. "No matter." Windsong replied lightly, peering into the darkness to see his pups. His eyes glimmered, only forgetting the disability fact. "Disabilities, or not, they have the blood of warriors. Nothing will stop them." Windsong, actually, sounded kind of nice, fact one was due to Tahti being a high-ranked Shadow Haunter ally. Two, the pups still had Arctic Wolf blood, so they'd manage with disabilities.
Tahti let out a sigh of relief. She thought Windsong would kill the pups. "They will be strong warriors. They will have the strength of the wolf, the speed of the coyote, and the prowess and intelligence of both of us." She added with a smile.
Windsong smiled softly, lifting his muzzle to the skies. "Correct." Windsong replied, sighing softly. "I must leave, but I will return when they can meet me. Till then..." Windsong tipped his head and trotted off, leaving the family in peace. At least one of the mothers doesn't hate me. Windsong thought as he neared the edge of the territory.
Tahti nodded. "I will see you some other time, then." She said contently before returning to the den.
