Weak, weary, and fatigued, I wander slowly into the land. It had been some time since I had last eaten, and an even greater amount of time since the last time I slept. Sure, I had taken short naps, but I could not let my defenses down. If I were to fall completely asleep...well, who knows what could happen? As I weakly trudge along I take on a uncaring mood, not paying attention to the world around me. Close, I am, to falling asleep while walking. That is, until I am suddenly jolted back to awareness by a misstep. With lightning-fast speed I pull my right fore-paw from the icy cold water of the marsh. I had been lucky to find a dry path to walk along. It seems my luck just ran out. Gently, I shake my paw to rid it of the cold liquid while looking around. All around me there was nothing but marshes (a couple of small hills block my view of Pike's Lake), meaning the only dry path was the one behind me. With a sigh I begin to back track, falling back into my dreamlike state as I do so. Somewhat carefully I skirt the water's edge, not desiring to soak my snowy grey coat. Normally, my well-muscled body would glide across this land with ease, making barely a sound, but now I was a little noisy and my head droops. Would I ever find a home? My charcoal paws, what with their mud coating, no longer match the tips of my ears and tail in color. My fur is tangled and dirty, my legs tired and sore. I needed a home and soon. A young, weak berry bush comes into view. It lifts my hopes, but only a little. It is quite small, bordering unhealthy. But it was food. Reaching it I eat all of the tiny, red berries that I can find. They don't help much, but it's something to satiate my growling stomach. Dragging my paws, I walk slowly toward a miniscule pool of water and lap a bit of it up. It tasted foul, like mud. Sighing I look around once more. It would not be much longer. Soon I would have a home. Soon... I hope.

Aaka

Aaka silently trotted towards the female her head down eyes glaring with delight. Could another possibly join her in her pack?

She wasnt the kindest of wolves but she wasnt the cruelest. Not caring if she got dirty she trudged through the mud and slowly said in her cool winter voice "If it is a home you wish you are welcome to the Silver Glades"

Silent as a whisper of wind she was gone

The sound of soft footsteps reach my charcoal ears. Normally I would hide until the noisemaker came into my view, but now I have not the energy to do so. In fact, the only movement I make at all is to slowly turn my head toward the new sound. In this weakened state I can only hope that it is not an unfriendly character. If I were attacked at this moment, I would be nearly powerless to save myself. As the footsteps come nearer I cringe in fear. Sight of the source of the sounds gives me only a little less to worry about. Immediately worry floods through me. Did this wolf mean to attack me? Had I invaded her territory? I hope not, but all I can do right now is wait to see what she will do. To my surprise, however, I hear the words I had so desperately needed to hear. A home! But before I can thank the generous wolf, she is gone. Well, I guess I better get going. Silently, I begin my journey.
