Xenarona
The Chimera mare didn't know what happened to her parents. She had gotten lost and seperated from the herd when they were being chased by humans. They knew not where the two leggers had come from. She had run all day and all night and soon found herself at this lake. She was hoping that she was now alone as she lowered her dial to the lake to drink. When she finished she lifted her head and called hoping to hear her family call back. She hd no clue about her uniqueness. Other then she had strange color patterning. Her right side being gold Champagn and left being a smoky black overo.
Charn
Blue-eyed demon had been but a ghost in these lands for many years, silently lamenting at the dwindling equine population, and his missed opportunity to snag a harem of mares for himself. When the horses were plentiful, he was too young to do anything about it. By the time he'd grown into his long legs and put some bulk upon his coal-black frame, those mares he'd been eying had either died, been captured, or disappeared never to be seen again. The Arabian stallion had lived in solitude for a long time because of this, and in that time his manners and attitude had frayed, and his outlook on the Valley had shifted.
Today, Charn had ventured down from the valleys of the gentle Ochotona mountains. Agile frame carried him like a shadow through the swaying trees, his steps strong but mindfully placed to make as little sound as possible. Caution and stealth is how he'd survived this long as a lone bachelor, but today... ah, today that might change. Charn's striking azure eyes glistened with excitement as he heard a lonely call for lost companion. He waited, ebony auds perked, and grinned to himself when no one had answered this mare back. 'This is your opportunity.'
Charn pressed through the forest until he broke into the clearing around the lake, and spotted a stunning gold mare dipping her head for a drink. Raising his dial and perking his flowing black tail up, Charn began to trot deliberately forward. A soft snort announced his presence, "Mare, what's your name?" The tones were more commanding than friendly, and the body language of this stallion was not on the gentle side.
Xenarona
She had had many questions thrown at her through out her life. She had even had two horses come up to her on either side of her thinking their were two horses here to talk to. Her ears flick as she lifts her head from the twater as the stallion comes right over and his words cause her ears to go back.
Talk that way and I doubt you'd get a fleas name
She says her ears going back and she pivoted to turn her butt on him and move away to do that her other side would of shown as well.
Charn
The stallion's ears were edging back until Xenarona turned, revealing quite literally a different side of this unique mare. Both auds perked forward and he exhaled a soft grunt of surprise. For a moment Charn was speechless, eyes darting from the darker coat to the lighter coat, trying to make sense of what he was seeing.
"Well aren't you something special?" Charn's light eyes lift to meet hers, and his coal-black ears lace backwards, "And where do you think you're going?" With a quickened step, Charn moves to partially circle her, while mindfully keeping himself just out of her kicking range. "I believe I asked you a question." His last words came with a threatening snap of his teeth.
Xenarona
She knew she was unique. She didn't know why but no one expected it. She saw it in his eyes and she snorts at his words. Away from youShe said. Her ears go back and she stomps a hoof. maybe you should learn to ask nicely and give your own nameShe said and at the snap of his teeth she reared up and slamned her front hooves down in warning. Back offShe snorted.
Charn
"Afraid manners aren't my strong point, lassy." Charn huffed back, keeping his head low as he boldly moved to cut off her attempt at sidling away from him. If he got the chance, he wouldn't hesitate to give her a snap of his broad ivories, but he was again cautious to get anywhere near those powerful hind hooves.
Xenarona would not be an easy catch though, Charn was quickly finding out. The willful mare rose up and slammed her front hooves down, and this did give the stallion pause. He drew his head back, raising his ebony dial as he grinned, intrigued by not only her looks but her spunk as well. "Suppose it's fair enough that you know the name of your new lead. You can call me Charn. Now then, what do you call yourself?"
Xenarona
Her nostrils flare and she snorts.well your parents did a crummy job of raising you then didn't they? She said back and arched her neck after coming back to earth. Her nostrils flare and she tosses her head.My new leader? I think not Charn, Though I will give you my name and thats XenaronaShe said back and struck out at the air with one front hoof.
Charn
Bright blue eyes gleamed with amusement at her remarks, the thick skin of his personality shrugging off any intended insults. He was more interested in her body language, and especially those daggers that were being stomped about in growing agitation. Unlike her words, those weapons could bruise and break him.
"It's not really a matter of your choice my little Xena, but I'm sure in time you'll come around." He offered, still moving in a rough circle around her. "You don't seem to have a herd of your own. I see no stallion coming to your aid." He snorted again, tossing his head as he did so, "You should be grateful that I'm here, to protect you from the predators of this Valley." When she lashed a hoof out, Charn's ears flattened back further and he rared up, striking out with his own. He too was aiming only for air, but he was beginning to edge closer to Xenarona, and his aggressive tactics weren't easing up.
Xena
Her neck is arched now and her ears go flat back. Stallion's aren't necessary all the time little man She said. As he edges nearer she swings her hind end toward him. Sure it was her time of the season but she didn't care about that. Her tail lashes out as she puts her rear in his direction.I highly doubt you can protect anyone with that attitudeShe said.
Charn
Ooh, she's a keeper. The thought rolled through the stallion's head as Xena became more and more defensive. When she swung her hindquarters around his way, two more thoughts immediately crossed him; first and foremost, she was getting ready to deliver a swift kick in his direction, and those rear hooves could really pack a punch. And secondly, if his flared nares weren't mistaken, this feisty mare was in season.
"A pregnant mare shouldn't be on her own." Charn stated, slowing down and he came to a stop, "And where our home is going to be, we have a great number of eyes and ears to help look after our new foal." He took a step closer to her, muscles tense and ready to react if Xena did try a strike, "Know that if you kick me, I will return the favor."
Xena
Xena knew that this was not the time to be alone and this stallion was prooving why. Her ears are back and she keeps her attention on him. If you think you'll get ot sire my first foal you are terribly mistakenShe said. She snorts.im not afraid of getting kickedShe said and then she kicked out with her hind legs in short little warning spurts.
Charn
The ripple of Charn's powerful muscles were highlighted by the sun above, the light tracing the edges of his physique as he reared back to avoid her short burst of attacks. The stallion tossed his head and roared, "I warned you, Xena." And true to his word, he struck down with his front hooves, dashing them at her flank and backside in an attempt to quell her fighting. He didn't want to cause her any serious harm, especially if she were to carry his foal, but he was determined to make her mind.
Xena
She couldn't move out of the way in time but she just snorted at it and bucked out again.and you have been warned as wellShe snorted tossing her head and soon making to spin around and lash out with her teeth.
Charn
The next kick was evaded as well, with Charn exercising a great deal of caution in dealing with this spitfire of a mare. Her bite, however, did manage to snag his chocolate-ebony hide. Charn squealed in surprise and reared back; not to get away from Xena, but to strike down at her with his front hooves. "For the sake of your future foal, you'd be wise to submit now!"
Xena
Xena ears were back the whole time and she moved out of the way just in time.I don't want no foal so back the hell offShe snorted
Charn
Charn didn't back off this time. When she moved to get out of the way, he pressed forward, head low and teeth snapping for her side. He would not let this mare get away, not after so many years as a lone, traveling bachelor. Wise to keep his eyes on any hind kicks she might throw his way, the stallion otherwise planned to harry Xenarona until she was too exhausted to continue the fight.
Xena
Her nostrils flare and she squeals at the bite and makes to cow kick him in the face. Her own dial turning toward him in case he makes to avoid the hit and aims to bite his cheek.
Charn
Xena's squeal was echoed by Charn when the surprise kick connected with flesh. But the pain of the blow did little to deter the stallion. Bright blue eyes were ablaze with anger and determination, and he struck again at Xena, driving forward with his front hooves with repetitive kicks.
Xena
Her nostrils wre flaring and before any more kicks could land on her she moves forward to run.
