Arquen, Baurus & Anarchy

With her nose to the ground, Arquen began to zigzag across the grass, taking in all the different smells around Pike's Lake. Her round ears were forward, catching the sounds around her as the huge Grizzly bear padded on towards the lake, gruffing every so often to the two cubs that trailed her. Arquen came to a stop at the water's edge, lifting her huge, shaggy brown head from the ground to look around for danger. She saw no serious threat in the two groups of canines around the lake. Two wolves talking at one side, A group on the other with pups. Turning her head back round, the sow looked for her own offspring who were lolloping up behind her, their pink tongues hanging out of their mouths. Stop running, you'll scare off the fish. Now, very slowly enter the water and stay still. Once the water has settled...

Anarchy barrelled into the water, ignoring his mother completely. Water sprayed everywhere, Arquen groaned, growling quietly, I said.. Hot on the heels of Anarchy, Baurus launched himself into the water trying to tackle his brother. He failed miserably, belly-flopping on the surface feet away from his larger sibling. Anarchy smirked; when his brother re-emerged the larger cub wrapped his front paws around him, trying to pull him under the water. Baurus' eyes widened and he began to struggle to try and reach the bank.

Meanwhile Arquen had left her cubs to try and fish along the lake a bit. Slowly, she wadded into the water until it was up to her stomach. She stood as still as she could; glad in a way of her boy's fighting, as the fish began to swim towards the calm water and her.
She waited for them to calm down, swimming casually around her now that they seemed used to her presence. Then, in a lightning fast movement, Arquen drove her head forward into the water, latching her jaws onto a pike and yanking it from the water. In her long, dripping muzzle she held a large pike. She waded back out of the water, her brown coat now several shades darker and a lot heavier from the water. Light brown on the top, dark on the bottom. Shaking herself off, Arquen moved away from the edge of the lake and sat down on her rear, pulling her upper-body into a sitting position. Using her front paws with their enormous 5.9 inch long claws, the grizzly began to devour the fish.

After her snack, the sow's muzzle was slightly bloodied, and although her tongue flashed over it to try and rid it of the crimson tinge, it didn't work. Pulling herself back up to stand on four legs, the mother searched for her cubs, whom by now had come out of the lake and were wrestling on the ground. She walked over to them, nuzzling each of the quickly on the top of the head. She then lay down, letting the sun dry her coat as her two sons continued to play fight on the grass beside her. To anyone else it would seem Arquen was asleep, but she merely had her eyes closed.
