Honthale

As the ebony hybrid bounded down towards the rocky beach, he kept looking back to be sure Larka was still with him. Though he was still a rather young adult, he couldn't help but fill a stirring in his heart. Was he actually... falling for the wolfess?

Arctic/Oceanic

A huge humpback whale breached. It was a perfect display of beauty and strength. Soon after, a smaller whale did the same. The young whale, Oceanic, noticed the wolf when she was above the surface of the water. She swam closer and held her head up. "Who are you?" She asked.

Honthale

Honthale did a double-take when he saw the whale breach. He was use to seeing the orcas, but a humpback? He had never seen something that monstrously huge! "I-my, my name..." The ebony hybrid was at a loss for words as he stared at the bizarre creature in the water, enthralled by the sheer size and strangness of her looks. Snapping back to his senses, Honthale shook his head, "...Honthale. Who.. what are you?"

Larka

As she stepped out from the brush onto the beach, just turning to yip to Honthale, she stopped in her tracks. Her mouth agape, her tail instintivly tucked a bit between her legs, she padded to him and crouched slightly by his side, growling at the strange thing in the water. They don't look like wolves to me... Curiosity overtook her fear as she approached the edge of the water, her paws wet. Her intelligent golden orbs took in the vastness of the baby, and deeper in the depths she saw an even more massive creature. She was positively dumbfounded by the sheer size of these creatures. I thought moose were big...I wonder if a wolf has ever tried to hunt these before She awaited the whale's speech, her mind burning t know what this thing truly was.

Oceanic

Oceanic smiled. "Hi, Honthale! I'm Oceanic!" She exclaimed, playfully slapping the water with her flipper and sending some in the direction of the wolves.

Larka

She leapt back from the water, more wary than ever. She barked, snapping her teeth together. Your name is Oceanic? My name is Larka. What exactly are you, anyway? She crept back to the waters edge and peered at the strange lumpy thing.

Honthale

The hybrid's previous bravado was now a little shaken by the appearance of this strange beast. He had expected the usual black and white orcas, but this?

Still, he didn't want to look like a fool in front of Larka. "This is... one of the older whales." He added after a touch of indecision, trying to sound impressive, even if he was totally wrong. "Usually, they're black and white, but they... they lose their color when they get really old." He added next.

Oceanic

Oceanic laughed. "Old whale? No, silly! I'm only a year old." She replied playfully. "I'm a humpback whale! See?" She breached, allowing the wolves to see her whole body.

Honthale

This revelation really sent the hybrid for a whirl. She was that big, and only a year old? Honthale got a better taste of her sheer mass when she breached, and found himself at a loss for speech for a second time.

Just as quickly as he was dumbfounded, Honthale felt embarrassment wash over him. He looked like a fool in front of Larka! "I, well, what I meant was..." Sputtering his words, the hybrid delayed a moment before the lie came to him, "..by 'old', I mean... I thought you were a different kind of whale..." It was a weak cover-up, but he tried it none-the-less.

Larka

She stepped forward, brushing her crania against his shoulder. She nipped his aud nd whispered It is alright, Honthale, relax. I think no less of you. She stepped back into the water, addressing Oceanic now. You are truly only a year old? How large can you get? Are you bigger than these 'Orcas' I keep hearing about? Her curiosity had taken over her initial fear. She was an intelligent wolf, who ached to learn all she could. These creatures called whales positively fascinated her. She smiled slightly, thanking Honthale for bringing her here.

Arctic/Oceanic

Oceanic nodded. "We grow to be over 50 feet! That's about from the tree over there..." She began, nodding to a large tree, then looking in the opposite direction at a boulder. ...to that big rock over there! One of us was even over 60 feet!" Her eyes widened as she spoke.

Suddenly, a fully-grown whale breached and watched the wolves. "Hello, friends. My name is Arctic. I see you have already met my daughter." She said politely.

Oceanic looked at her mother, then back at the canines. "I can give you a ride on my back, if you want." She offered playfully.

Larka

Her jaws dropped at the distance between the tree and the boulder. Her tail tucked between her limbs a bit as the large whale breached. H...hello Artic, pleasure to meet you, my name is Larka She was ecstatic, her golden orbs widened. Really? Would you really give me a ride? Her tail waved behind her, eager. She was afraid of the water, terrified of drowning, but her curiosity was simply too great to let her fear consume her.

Mayve/Oceanic

A single howl echoed through the trees. It was a lonely one. It was the song of the desert, though there was no desert. Its owner had not met another of her kind since she had left her home. She thought that there was nobody to join her chorus, singing in the evening and well through the night.
The coyote walked along the shore, staring into the murky depths of the water. She lifted her head high when she spotted something on the surface a ways away. She advanced toward the creature, which just happened to be Oceanic. She waved her bushy tail only slightly. "I have never seen a fish so big." She said quietly, just loud enough so the odd group could hear. "You are truly an amazing creature." Then she focused on the wolves, smiling sweetly. "I'm Mayve. Who are you?" Until now, she had seen only small wolves; Mexican Gray Wolves, in her days at the Desert Museum.

Oceanic nodded to the wolfess. "You bet! I like giving rides." She exclaimed, moving closer to the shore. She now looked at Honthale. "Do you want to come too?" She asked. It was then that he coyote came. "A fish? No...I'm a whale!" She corrected the new canine politely.

Larka

Her crania tilted in curiosity as the coyote approached. Her crania and plume were held high in Alpha position as she looked at the smaller canine. 'Lo, Mayve. My name is Larka, I am the Alpha of the Sapphire Brook terra, wat are you, and do you have a pack? I am in sore need of membersat the moment. She smiled slightly and turned back to Oceanic. She stepped into the water up to her chest. How in the world.... do I get on your back? she thought curiously. She turned to wait and see if Honthale would ride too.

Honthale

A slight wave was given to his tail as he nuzzled the side of Larka's neck. It was wonderful to suddenly have someone to assure him for a change. He was so use to being the 'big brother' to Desmon and Hatch, and this change in roles was refreshing. But there was little time at the moment to dwell on this, for Oceanic had offered a ride!

The ebony hybrid stepped forward, following along side Larka to enter the lapping waters. "My family will never believe me..." He mused quietly, grinning from ear to ear. An aud swiveled to the direction of Mayve, though he let Larka do the talking.

Mayve/Oceanic

Oceanic grinned politely and put her tail on the shore. "You can walk up my tail and along my back." She instructed kindly, then glanced over to the coyote. "You can come too."

Mayve smiled and nodded, stepping closer. She bowed respectfully to the wolves before stepping onto the whale's back.

Larka

She grinned at Honthale and followed the coyote, digging her claws into the whale's hide to hold her balance. Tell me if I am hurting you, Oceanic, and thank you She was unsure of how the whale would move. Her body stayed tense in preparation for whatever came next.
