Havfeera-Vh'mei

It was the humans were were responsible for her species eradication from this area, for the two-leggers had ranked her kind as the third most dangerous shark. For good reason, maybe... though her brethen took less human lives than lightning did each year. Not much you could do to lightning though, aside try and avoid it. It was a strange thing that deer, not sharks, were actually to blame for the most human fatalities of any animal, on land or sea. But the difference was, deer didn't have big, razor-sharp teeth and a hunger for blood as did the shark and other predators. It was much easier to point fingers at her kind, even though vending machines accounted for more deaths than all sharks combined each year. Crazy statistics, huh? It was a shame the humans didn't understand her kind, and hated them so. Couldn't they see the keen intelligence? Their complex social lives? The way they played, the way they worked as a team to solve problems? Anything but their natural need to kill things to survive? Sure, some humans could see the sharks as what they really were, but far too many viewed them as senseless, blood-thirsty killers.

Havfeera did not worry herself over the thoughts of humans though, at least not in the way they bothered over her brethren. Her kind had been swimming the oceans since the time of the dinosaurs, and she was confident that her blood would still rule on past the span of the strange two-leggers.

It had been several years since the bull shark had been around this area. Her mother had bred in Pike's Lake, and she was the only pup to survive the litter. Partially because she ate two of her siblings before they were born... but hey, it's eat or be eaten. She and four other siblings survived in the lake for a few weeks before one was eaten by an alligator, and another was taken by a human. That left her and her sisters, who decided it was better to flee to the safety of the ocean than remain in the lake. Hanging out around the little islands past the Requiem River delta, a second sister was taken by a white tip shark; one of the few that managed to stay out of the hunter's nets and baited hooks.

After human threats grew too much, Havfeera finally moved on, away from the area. For many years, the coast lines and estuaries were her home. But now, twenty some years later, she was back. And she seemed to be the only shark in the area, as far as she could detect.

The weather was rough as she swam along the coast, and lightning blazed the sky, lighting up the mountainous curtain of black clouds that hung over the land. Rain and waves merged in a fierce torrent, and it wasn't long before Havfeera found herself battered against a rocky craig. The blow was stunning; normally, she could easily detect objects around her, even in the murky water. But the lightning threw her off, and now her scaly hide was torn across the side. Half-stunned, the bull shark was carried by the waves until she was in the shallow end of the bay. And then, just as she realized the water was dangerously shallow, a giant surge of water rocketed against the shore. Her 475 pound body was lifted like a feather in the breeze as the water rolled over the rocky shore with incredible power. When the massive wave subsided, Havfeera found herself stranded in a small pool of water, hardly any longer than her 10 and a half foot span.

For a moment, she was stunned as she lay at the bottom of the small pool. Then the need to swim kicked in, and it was then that she realized she was trapped. She had hardly enough room to turn about, much less to swim in this little cage. This was quite a delemna, for breathing and swimming went hand and hand; to stop swimming was pretty much to stop breathing for her. She could last a little while at least, but without help... she'd be dead in a few hours.

Ying

Ying made his way from the prarie to the Orca Bay, intent on learning about his new surroundings. He grinned at the magnificent beauty of the Bay but then his eyes caught onto something else. Head cocked to the side, the male venture further to investigate. Thats when his eyes landed upon Havfeera. He came closer, to the very edge and said,
"Uh.....Do you need any help?" He had never seen a shark before but this one didn't look to happy. He lowered his head to the water and took a small drink, seeing if it was poisonus and that was why she wasn't moving. Seeing that it wasn't he raised his head and looked at Havfeera quizzically.

Havfeera-Vh'mei

Any other time, Ying would have looked like a promising meal to the giant, razor-toothed fish. But as it was, she could hardly move, much less make a lunge for him. And it was curious to her that this wolf went out of his way to speak to her! Not only that; he offered help? The way it was, Havfeera knew she'd be dead if not for some miracle, and here was that miracle.

"Help would be very... appriciated." The bull shark tilted her large head, bringing one speckled eye above the water to have a good look at Ying. "Would you help me?" Although there was no way he could lift or drag her to the bay, she had another plan in mind, if he was willing.

Ying

Ying nodded and looked at her current predicament. He sat, the water touching his paws making them soaked as he stared at her knowing he couldn't move her. He knew, somehow, that if this beast so chose she could gobble him up in one bite but as he looked into her eyes he knew that without him she would die. He waited at her command as to what he should do, the storm above raging.

Havfeera-Vh'mei

Right now, she was alright in the little pool, for the turbulent waters and rain mixted up enough oxygen for her to breath. But the storm would blow itself out in less than an hour, and then she would be in trouble. Especially as the sun beat down on her. The tide would eventually come up and release her from the prison, but without help up to that point, she'd never make it.

"When the storm has passed, I need..." Havfeera paused, thinking a moment, "..seaweed to cover my fin and tail." The pool was so shallow that the top of her dorsal fin and tail stuck out of the water. "I need new water... do you have any friends who could help splash new water into my pool?" These were the two most important things. The latter of which would be the most laborous task. The third delemna dealt with the threat of humans. If they discovered her here, which they were bound to do when the storm passed, she had no way of defending herself from them, unless they were stupid enough to get close to her.

Shaman

The white male wandered in at exactly the moment of the shark's speech, chuckling to himself. He had trained that whelp well. His grin stopped as he noticed the huge finned thing with the razor-edged jaws. He had dropped into a defensive position before he realized that another canine was standing by and that the shark was asking for help.

He wasn't usually the kind to HELP anyone, but the giant fishy thing intrigued him. Listening to her, he spoke, his form exuding kindness and benevolence. Friends, perhaps not. But allies in helping one in need, yes. His good ear perked as the droopy one could not, and he smiled, the speckling of his face casting a soft generosity to his features.

Inside the privacy of his mind, he chuckled to himself. Quite the actor when I want to be, aren't I? And that he was: no hint of his inner thoughts showed on his face. No, he was all tender concern and willingness to aid. Water we can get.

And he turned, walking into the bay until the water reached the line of his stomach. Turning about, he began to scarpe all his feet backwards to make a small shower of water flow towards the shark. Within a short time he had created a small puddle of fresh water, and more was steadily coming.

Ying

Ying saw the other through narrowed eyes before he moved forth and began to gather sea weed. Placing it upon her He looked to her for approval. Shaman set him off guard though. Trust wasn't for the male as he moved forth to face the shark again, his orange eyes boring into her own. "Now what?" Shaman seemed to be able to handle the water thing so he would just keep his distance from the other. He did know two others that could help....It was just a matter of getting them here. He waited for the shark to speak before he called to his siblings.

Havfeera-Vh'mei

Her head swung slowly from side to side as she filtered the water past her flexing gills, making the most of the fresh water that Shaman was kicking her way. She remained still as Ying applied the seaweed, then went back to swaying from side to side. "For now, this will be enough." Havfeera responded, looking straight back at Ying. A notion came to her though; will these wolves be willing to keep this laborous work up for the next several hours? She needed assurance... something that would make them want to stay and help out. Shaman's words came to mind. "Alliance is a nice term, I agree. I plan to live in Pike's Lake, and the river system here." Surprising to many, her kind was well known for inhabiting freshwaters, such as swimming thousands of miles up rivers and even living in lakes. Most other sharks would more or less 'explode' if they tried such a thing, but she and a few others were unique in this ability to traverse from saltwater to fresh, for long periods of time.

"If you two live around here, I can certainly be of aid to you, so long as your problems can be solved in the water." The bull shark paused to look up at the sky, tilting her bulky head and gazing with one eye towards the rolling clouds. They were beginning to clear up fast now, and she was getting anxious of humans. She knew storms could wash just as much interesting stuff on the beach as it did into the water; and like her kind, she realized humans scavenged this stuff. Although they were more after shells, beach whales, and the like, rather than dead or wounded creatures to eat.

"I'm Havfeera-Vh'mei; Havfeera for short." She looked from Ying to Shaman expectantly. This was going to take several hours, so they might as well get to know each other a bit, especially if they were going to be allies.

Ying*Yin

Ying smiled at Havfeera and said in his voice of deep baritone "Milady, Havfeera. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Ying, at your service." He contined to sit in front of her, his eyes ever watchful for humans when suddenly a low snarl caught his attention. He turned his head about, his white side facing Havfeera when Yin came into sight. "Brother." Her words were harsh as she came closer and she glared her disapproval at the male. Although deep down in her heart she loved him, it was only hate that she showed now for the tall male. She was considerably smaller then him, but she was wider of chest and stature. She turned her eyes to Shaman and they seemed to alight with mischief. Moving past her brother, she came forth to the male her words soft and pleasent as her blue eyes stared at his movements "Monseinuer, you are so strong and magnificent." Her eyes dropped, as if she wished to take back the compliment that had escaped her lips but on the contrary. She wanted to see what her overly protective brother would do.

Ying just glared at his sister as she moved towards Shaman. As he heard her words, his hackles raised but he made no move towards her. His eyes dropped back down to Havfeera, but he did not speak to her but just glared moodily into her eyes.

Shaman

The white male continued scraping about until there was a good deal of water around the shark, nodding and speaking one word as she gave her name. Shaman.

He was a bit startled to see a female join them, but caught the mischeivous glint in her eye as she spoke to him. His own dark brown eyes traveled to the bristling Ying and back, and when they returned they were smiling in answer. He always did love a good joke at the expense of fools.

He let the diplomacy and intrigue drip into his words as he turned favoring eyes on her form, caressing her with their gaze, a flirtatious smile on his lips. Ah, but your compliments are those of the sun to a mere star, m'dear, for your beauty far outshines mine. And he let her see the mischeif in his own eyes, letting them smile as he enjoyed the game.

Yin

The bright mischief in her blue eyes was caught once more as she tucked her head to her shoulder as if blushing. "Aw, monseignuer. Such a strong name you have. Strength seems to course through your veins, my Shaman." She heard a low growl from over near the shark, and it took all of her will power to supress a giggle. Oh how she loved tormentinig her middle brother. It was one of the easiest games, for Yang did not protect her. He was to kind hearted and pathetic. It had been Ying who came to her aid when she had attacked the alphas. A winsom smile crossed over her maw as she moved closer to the male. She brushed against him and murmered softly but loud enough for Ying to hear, "Aye, a strong male you are. Any female would be lucky to have you." Her black tail curled around his chest as she made a circuit of him. "Yin!" Came a sharp bark. Turning innocent eyes to her brother she replied in a sugar coated tone, "Yes brother?" But the male made no move but just sat back with a growl and raised his eyes to the heaven. Why had he become her protecter?

Shaman His dial moved with her, eyes seeming to take her in, pushing his face forward to nudge her tail as she moved away. His face was one of ecstasy as he spoke again, words dripping with hidden meanings and darker things. Pluck down a star for me to rest upon my grave, m'dear, for I seem to be seeing angels, which means I can only be in heaven. For a bounty such as ye, I'd die a thousand deaths or more. What say we ditch this crowd and something more... interesting... to do? And he played with that word, twirling it around between his lips and making it low, husky, and seductive. He was fighting a laugh himself, just waiting for the foolish Ying to attack. This could be funny.

Ying*Yin

A soft laugh escaped her and she said in his ear "Aye, m'love. This crowd, it bores me." She turned her eyes to Ying, who had his own orange orbs glaring deep into the sand before him. A snarl arose from his lips and he stood as Ying began to saunter away, her tail brushing Shaman's face as she did so as if she was leading him. "You will go no where Yin." Her voice was dripping with honey as she turned to her brother, her bodice still close to Shaman "Oh? And here I thought we were just on our way." She watched as her double colored brother moved closer but his eyes were wary. He knew her tricks, and he knew them well. HEr own fangs had nearly killed him before. With both Shaman and Yin, they could kill him easily. Although tall he was no match for them both. Yin smiled and said in a purr "That's what I thought foolish brother. Just because I can find a handsome lover, and you can't you have no reason to be jealous. I'm sure some day some blind and deaf wench shall come your way and grovel at your feet. But until then, watch the master." She knew that her new 'lover' would hear her words but she didn't really mind. It wasn't like he would love her. No one could, or ever would. Not with Ying around. She began to move away once more, farther down the beach out of ear shot and sight of her brother who had stayed by the shark out of obligation. She turned to Shaman with a smirk and said softly "Quite the actor, monseinuer."

Shaman

Shaman watched the two with increasing amusement, even putting in his own aggressive growl as Ying tried to enact his will upon her. The growl made him the very picture of a jealous lover, and completed the charade. As she began to wander away he followed her, waiting until they were out of ear shot before letting a small laugh come forth, his shoulders shaking. Ying would take it for anticipation, and it allowed him to express his amusement.

Not so bad yourself, Yin. I am nothing if not a manipulator of others, m'dear, as I see you are. And he tossed his head back to indicate Ying. Is he always that tense or does he had something stuck up his back to make it stand that straight?

Yin

She giggled softly. "He is always tense. Or the humans stuck and iron rod threw his back. Wouldn't surprise me." The dark sister turned her gaze upon him, taking in his frame slowly. Aye, he was like many of her lovers back home. But many of them had grown fearful of her mutli colored brother and his bright orange eyes that seemed to be alight with fire. She knew though, that wasn't the case with the male. She could sense the confidence, and the strength just in the way he moved and spoke. She watched him through bright blue eyes, that contrasted well with her black hide.

Shaman

He laughed, too, shoulders still shaking, though it was softer this time. Much like my son, in that. And doesn't know how to take a joke. Yes, that sounds much like Darkeyes. But such frivolous creatures are easily broken, if you know how to treat them. And he let his malicious grin fall on his features. Yin was exactly the kind of wolven that Shaman got along splendidly with.

Yin

She chuckled and lay down her bright eyes watching him. "The cold hearted brother, the bright eyed wench. We make a good pair him and I when hes in one of his darker moods. But you, love. You seem to always be in a dark mood." She looked up at him through winsom eyes and grinned. "Just my type." She had no children, no mate, no love. Just her little games.

Havfeera-Vh'mei

With little else to do at the moment, Havfeera indulged herself on the theatrical preformances of the two wolves as they antagonized Ying. Although to her, she didn't quite understand the depth of what they were doing. Not that she wasn't intelligent, for she was, she just didn't bother herself with the affairs of terrestrial creatures. Unless their behaviors happened to tie in with her hunting.

"You wolves have strange courtship rituals." Havfeera pointed out, lifting her head from the water for a brief moment to watch the pair walk further down the beach line, obviously mistaking what was going on. "And I think it just cost me two helpers." The shark added with a note of irritation. Now she felt more inclined than ever to offer Ying good reasons for staying put and helping her until hightide came. "If you ever need protection or food, you can count on me. Do you live near the river and lake here?"

Shaman

He stayed sitting upright above her, grinning too. Light bores me, love. All that shiny glimmering and the sweet birds and the pretty music.. bah and balderdash, I say. There are so much more fun things to do. The pup's mother was that way: all soft clouds. That's why I killed her. Or, should I say... got rid of her.

And the smile broadened as he folded his legs, going down to lay facing her. He hadn't had a mate or love since the pup's mother, and even that love was short-lived because the wytch was so gentle and so pacifying. Annoying, he called it.

Ying*Yin

Ying growled lightly at Havfeera but his hackles slowly lowered and he became cool and calm once more. He said softly to the shark "I live no where, so I shall stay nearby rivers and streams. The lake as well." He lay down now, his tail wrapped around his side as he watched the shark calmly. He tried his best to ignore where ever his sister and her new 'love' went. He knew it was all a game with her but it still irked him.

The Blood runs down down down Into crimson Rivers it Flows

A soft chuckle escaped her maw as she watched him. "I never had a mate." Her eyes were cool now, as she stared off into the sea in front of them. She always enjoyed her games but something told her this one might get to close. To personal. But maybe it was time for her to settle down. Especially with someone who matched her personality as well as the male did.

Shaman

He let another chuckle escape him, and watched her look at the sea for a moment. I haven't had such fun in a long time. And his eyes followed her gaze for a moment before he spoke again. Well, think you we have tormented him enough, or shall we remain a while longer?

He was leaving it up to her. He had enjoyed their game, and their small conversation, but he knew better than to push his luck. He liked Yin, found her amusing, found her to be of the same mannerisms as he himself was, but he wasn't going to push.

Ying*Yin

The near pure black female smiled at him for the first time. She stood and shook the sand from her dainty body and said in her soft yet cold voice "Whats say we go somewhere else? Where others like ourselves roam, perhaps." She didn't know if there were others like her and Shaman but she could at least try to find someone. Or, they could go torment her other brother Yang. Tear him up a little. She sat back, waiting for him to answer.

Ying glared as his sister stood, and noting his look a soft musical laugh escaped her, like water flowing over the rocks of a slow paced stream. She could see him begin to stiffen once more and she smirked. "Come on." She murmered. She turned and began to move away, to wear she was headed she didnt know.

Havfeera-Vh'mei

She lifted her head again, looking for a second at the pair further along the beach. Then her head came down again as she resumed the repetative swaying from side to side. "If you ever have any enemies, I could always take care of them. If they can be lured to the water." Havfeera added as inscentive, noting how aggrivated Ying was getting with Shaman, though she didn't understand why.

Shaman

Shaman rose with her, his soft smile growing as he watched the brother stiffen. By all means, let us find some entertainment. Lead on, Yin. And he turned to follow her with one last smirk at Ying.

Havfeera-Vh'mei & *Humans*

As predicted, two leggers did show up. It was a few hours past the storm now, and already the rising tide waters had krept into and merged with the bull shark's little pool of water. Still, she would need it to raise just a little bit more so that she could somewhat 'jump' over the edge of the pool. It would be a hard thing to do, but her kind was known for jumping waterfalls, like samon did, to go upriver. It may be a bit akward and would certainly lead to some injury, but it may be neccessary if the humans were persistant.

A young woman was walking towards the beach with a bag in hand, hoping to find some shells that might have washed ashore during the storm. As she made her way down the rocky beach, she spotted Ying and stopped abruptly. The two-legger was about to turn back to avoid conflict when she noticed three fins sticking up from a pool of water. 'Whale' was the first thing that came to mind, since she could not see the rest of the body. It didn't quite accure to her that whales had horizontal flukes; not verticals tail fins like fish did. Curious, despite the wolf's presence, she began to move closer to the pool to get a better look.

Meanwhile, Havfeera continued to sway back and forth, finding breathing easier now that new water was filtering into her pool. Facing away from the human, she didn't notice the woman's approach.

Ying

The males hackles bristled and he stood as a warning to the woman. He let out a bark that ended in a snarl, his head lowered his eyes locked on hers. Back off They seemed to say as he continued to watch her through fiery orange eyes. His coloring.....Was so unusual. He had a reason to fear as much as Havfeera. Hunters always were out to kill him for his odd pelt. He took a step forth, closer to the woman and growled again in warning. "Careful...." HE said to the Bull Shark. He could fend off one unarmed human but not two especially if one had a gun or knife. Then Havfeera and he would both be in trouble. "How much longer, finned one?" His voice was soft as he continued to glare at the woman, his body tense.

Havfeera-Vh'mei & *Humans*

At Ying's warning, the bull shark lifted her head from the water and saw the human, "Just my luck!" She fumed, snapping her jaws against the water in expression of her anger at seeing a two-legger. She then sized up the lip of rock that was between her and the freedom of the bay. The water was steadily rising, "Just a few minutes. Just a few more minutes..." Havfeera raised up once more, lashing her tail and sending a spray of salty water in the air as she manuevered herself towards the Bay. No, it was too shallow to make the jump yet. She needed just a few more inches to clear the rocks...

When Ying stood and came forward, the woman became aware of his bizzare coat. But, just then, the head of a shark came of from the water and she screamed in horror. The woman turned and began to run up the beach, heading for the road that winded its way around there. As luck would have it, she tripped on the slippery black rocks and sprained her ankle. The bag of shells went flying and, as the pain drilled at her ankle, the woman set to screaming shrilly for help. Surely, it wouldn't be long before her sharp cries brought the attention of more two-leggers. Just what Ying and Havfeera didn't need.

Ying

The male snorted after the female and was about to speak to Havfeera once more when suddenly the woman's piercing screams reached his delicate ears. "Hold on." He told Havfeera tersly. Then he ran straight for the woman and leapt on top of her. He was deadly silent as he stared into the womans eyes as his massive paws rested on her chest. He was hoping to silence her, at least long enough for Havfeera to get out of the water. He didn't want to kill the human woman. He wasn't a killer, not unless something provoked him.

Havfeera-Vh'mei & *Humans*

She screamed a high-pitched note that would make most canids wince. But then, she stopped her insane cries and reverted to a horrified whimpering, interlaid with sharp gaps as Ying stood over her. She was hyperventilating now, but at least she was no longer giving ear-peircing screams. "Oh please, oh please! Please don't kill me! Oh my.."

Havfeera lashed her tail again, raising her body part way out of the water as she gaged what she needed to jump over. It was close... very close now. The bull shark made a tight circle in the cramped space of the pool before facing the bay again... just a few more minutes...

And it was a few more minutes that the humans needed. The woman's cries had been heard, and now two men were jogging down the beach towards her and Ying. Thankfully, they didn't happen to have any guns with them, but one had a plank of wood. The other picked up a rock.

Finally, the water had risen high enough. With tremendous effort, Havfeera launched herself from the water, rising almost completely up into the air in a fantastic display of her species's strength. Then she came crashing down, sending waves lashing up into the air. The humans stopped dead in their tracks at the sight, offering Ying his chance to flee from the woman and put himself out of rock-chucking range.

Havfeera landed heavily on the rocks and thrashed in the shallow waters outside of the pool. For a brief few seconds, she was beached. But as the waves rolled in, she managed to free herself again and dove for deeper water, a small trail of blood following her where the rocks had cut her underside. The injuries were nothing though; especially compared to what would have happened if Ying hadn't disctracted the humans for her.

Havfeera circled and lifted her head partway from the water to locate Ying, "Run! I can meet you in the Valley; follow the river!" And then she was gone, slipping down so that her dorsal fin sliced throug the water in the typical 'Jaws' fasion before it too went under.

While one man went to help the woman, the other went over Ying, swinging his board like a bat...
