Lost Star & Azeros
A thin, pale grey brute loped onto the beach, a slight spring in his step. To the orcas, he may look surprisingly familiar....his pale blue, slightly clouded optics gazed across the shore, waves curling in relentlessly, and pushing the salty water towards him to lap against his paws. He halted, slightly short of breath, his head and tail held up with pride. A strangely noticable 4-point, black star sat between his eyes on his crania. He panted, looking behind him as another figure stepped out of the brush.
A dark, burly young brute padded slowly towards the first one, his step heavy as he moved with his massive paws. His mustard yellow orbs gazed in deep thought at his surroundings. His pelt was pure black, with the exception of a white mark on his chest, and some white streaks across his face. He soon came to a halt beside the other brute.
"This is the place." The gray one barked in a fully-trusting tone. The latter wolf growled.
"How can you possibly be sure? Our father has traveled very far and perhaps-" But the other wolf cut him off.
"Azeros, this /is/ the place. I know. Our father must have brought us here when we were younger, for I can remember the scent." He replied hastily, stepping closer to the ocean with a look of curiosity 'pon his features. A large wave nearly pummeled him over.
"Lost Star," The second brute scoffed as his sibling was drenched with water. "I do not see any of these /swimming creatures/ that he told us of. He probably just made up that story to make us like him more." He sneered in a voice that showed how much he disliked his father.
"Enough, Azeros." Lost Star barked, his pale blue optics turning away from the ocean and to his brother. "Our father, Dark Star, was no lier." He growled violently. "You only wish to darken his name." The thinner wolf stated, and began to casually lope down the coast.Azeros followed behind him.
"Come, Azeros, we must find these swimming creatures! What was the name of that one...Ty...ali?"
Tyali & Silver Tip
The fins of many orcas cut through the dark waters of the bay. They had finished their hunting for the day and were now simply enjoying some socializing. Two of these dark fins, rising tall and sharp above the waves in the characteristics of a male orca, glided closer to the shore than the others. Every once in a while, a glistening back, two-toned head, or powerful fluke would accompany the fin to the serface.
The two males came very close to the shore, and now a splash of 'silver' became visible on the top of one of the dorsals. It was really an area of bleached skin, but it glistened to a silvery tone in the sun. The owner of this unique appendage suddenly brought his head above the clashing waves and turned his large, dark eyes towards the shore. With a low, single-toned whistle, he dipped beneath the waves again.
A moment later, both creatures came cruising towards Lost Star and Azeros. They rushed towards the rocky beach until nearly half of their body was exposed to the air. A giant wave, spurred on by their speed and bulky bodies, came rushing upon the shore to greet the brothers. Two giant faces, lined with dozens of large, glistening teeth, now peered curiously at the two. Perhaps their approach wasn't the most... welcoming. But they at least they meant to look friendly, not intimidating, if that counted for anything.
"Wolves! See, Silver Tip, I knew they'd show up sooner or later!" The slightly smaller of the two gigantic creatures shrilled out.
The other, baring the silver-tipped dorsal, nodded to his companion, "Aye, Tyali, I shouldn't have doubted you." The large whale grinned, which again, may have looked more menacing than anything.
The one dubbed Tyali focused his attention and glossy orbs on the two wolves, if they hadn't been frightened off by the sudden and boisterous entrance, "Hail to you, wolves! My, it's been a long time since I've talked to a wolf!"
Lost Star and Azeros
Lost Star went tense from surprise for a moment as the two orcas approached, flattening his ears back and lowering to the ground in a defensive position from habit. However, when they greeted him, he perked up, cocking his head to the side with a most curious expression. He responded with a wolfish grin of his own, taking their menacing show of teeth to, hopefully, be their way of smiling.
"Lo to you, creatures of the sea!" He barked in a purposely deep tone, sounding much like his father. "I told you they would be here, Azeros!" He said excitedly, running up closer to the large beasts.
Azeros was not quite so enthused. He remained defensive, sitting back on his haunches a good distance away from the two underwater creatures. He did not respond to his brother, merely gazed at the Orcas with his deep yellow eyes. He was very untrusting of new creatures.
Tyali & Silver Tip
Tyali nudged Silver Tip by swinging his head to the side a bit, "See, aren't they friendly?" He turned his huge eyes to Lost Star, suddenly focusing on the star-like patch of fur on his head. His orbs narrowed a bit, but then mentally shrugged off a thought. "I'm Tyali, who are you? It's wonderful to be able to speak to a wolf." The orca pointed out with great enthusiasm ringing in his voice.
Silver Tip was content to listen, though he offered his name for any who where interest, "And I'm Silver Tip, the pod's..." He cut himself off, figuring he wouldn't go answering questioned that no one asked. As Tyali talked with Lost Star, Silver Tip looked to Azeros. And unlike his friend, this whale wasn't so good at reading wolf launage, which might have told him to politely keep quiet instead of doing what he did next.
Taking in a mouthful of water, Silver Tip sprayed it playfully at the brother, his eyes glistening with misheif. They were both adult orcas, but they still acted like calves now and then; especially Tyali.
Azeros and Lost Star
Lost Star jumped about, rather excited now. "My name is Lost Star!" He said in an excited bark. His tail was vigoriously wagging. It was only when he was excited that he acted like such a pup.
His brother scoffed. Laying down a few feet away on the damp sand. His mustard colored eyes were lazily watching his brother's childish antics. He obviously didn't really want to be here, though he seemed slightly interested in the two massive orcas.
Lost Star stepped a bit closer to the two, so that the waves crashed to his stomach. "You must be the underwater creatures that my father had told me about! He said he knew a-erm...Ty-a-..." He trailed off, not recalling the name anymore. He shook off the thought. Is that either of you?! he asked in a heated tone, as if his life depended on the answer. It was obvious that he, unlike Azeros, was rather fond of his father.
Tyali & Silver Tip
Tyali laughed heartily, seeing Lost Star's antics. "You wolves are always so fascinating! And my, you remind me of someone I once knew..." The large whale's eyes became sad for a moment. "Dark Star was his name." Tyali shook his large head a bit, for it had slowly dawned on him that something must have happened to that wolf that had been his closest canine friend.
Silver Tip listened carefully to the wolf's attempt at naming, "Tyali is the only orca here who's name begins like that." He confirmed, nodding to his friend.
Lost Star & Azeros
Lost Star continued to run about, mainly in circles, listening to the first part of the whale's sentence, his toung lopping out of his mouth. However, at the mention of his father's name, he halted so abruptly that he flipped himself over. Unfortunately, this occured just as a wave came down. He jumped up, sputtering. After shaking himself off, he gasped. "That's my Father's Name! Dark Star! I can't believe it! You must have been the whale he knew!" He said excitedly, but after a few seconds, he calmed down once again. He was now rather wet. He sighed in a more depressed manner. His tail was slightly cricked, and he shook himself again with a more bland expression in his pale optics. He sat down a bit from the water, nearer to Azeros. He said sadly. "My mother had said that he left to go hunting one day..." He started, but he appeared to saddened to finish. Azeros finished for him.
"He really left to die, I think." He snapped. "He didn't want everyone to feel pain, I suppose was what he thought, and so he and Tri-Tundra departed and never returned." His eyes were unfeeling as he gazed back and forth from Silver Tip and Tyali.
Lost Star spoke up. "I never understood...why wouldn't Tri-Tundra come back after our father...died? If that was what happened...why didn't she return to help our mother?" He asked in a slightly hurt tone. "Did you know her as well?"
Tyali & Silver Tip
Tyali laughed quietly when Lost Star did an unintended flip. Then his eyes grew wide at hearing the wolf say his next words. He grew excited very fast, but before he could say anything, he listened to the next batch of words and his spirits sunk. With a low whistle and droopy eyes, the orca responded, "I wish my friend is still alive out there. It is a terribly unfortunate thing that we cannot live as long as each other." It was a sad fact that Tyali had a hard time dealing with. His kind had one of the longest life spans in the mammal family, while wolves had a good deal shorter one. The whale gave a deep sigh, "Tri-Tundra is one I knew as well. I surely hope that she at least is alive. You know, she helped a seal once! I'm not quite sure why, but he's still around the area. My, he'd be sore to hear this news!"
Lost Star
Lost Star replied with his head bowed. "At least, then, she has been known for good deeds. I cannot remember her very well, so I do not know of her-or my father's-many triumphs." He growled this in a low, saddened tone. His tail sunk a bit lower to the ground. He lifted his head up with a more dignified expression, continuing in a less-grim bark. "It is sad that life is given so willingly to the undeserving, yet taken from the good so often." He spoke wisely of the matter, and Azeros scoffed. Lost Star ignored this. With a more curious look, he asked. "You have a longer life-span? Really?"
Tyali & Silver Tip
The great whale was dissheartened to hear his new friend's anguish, "If you ever meet them again by chance, please tell them that their friend is seeking them." He nodded faintly to the following words, "So very true, Lost Star, unfortunately. I only hope they are still of this earth... or if not, we can take solice that they are in a better place."
Silver Tip took his turn now, adding on his knowledge of the sea creatures, which was greater than Tyali's. "Oh yes, we've a long life. But the Right Whales... they are the true long-livers. My pod lived in the arctic most of the year, and we met the whales now and then. One of them is nearly 200 years old. Not sure if she's still alive... but I tell you, she had the most interesting stories of humans!"
Now Tyali piped up, for he knew more about the land creatures, though most of his knowled came from talking to wolves and migratory birds, "A gull I talk to once said that she met this... oh... turtoyes... er, something like that. Anyway, she said this creature was over 200 years old! Now that is something, isn't it?" He shook his head in awe. He was speaking of a tortise, but it had been a few years back when he heard the name, and it had since gotten a bit scrambled in his mind.
Lost Star and Azeros
Lost star listened intently to the two whales as they input the knowledge they had on the subject. He nodded his wolvine crania slowly as they finished speaking, his pale blue optics wide with awe. "That's amazing! He barked in a more cheery tone. He grinned wolfishly at the two, standing up and shaking himself again while gazing at the two magnificent creatures in the water before him.
Azeros was now lying lazily in the sand, his deep yellow orbs scanning the area lazily. His head rest on his sandy paws, and he grumbled under his breath. "Please..." He said to himself. He found his brother's interest in everything much too "kiddish".
Tyali & Silver Tip
"Oh, yes, there are many fascinating things!" Tyali responded, whislting loudly as he did so. "I'd just love so much to be able to go on land..." The whale now sighed as he thought of that, something he had always longed for. "I've always wanted to swim up the river. The fish tell me it leads to a place called Pike's Lake." Tyali pointed out thoughtfully, but was always fearful of humans and getting stranded in river.
Silver Tip shook his head, "That's not a safe thing to do, and you know it. Just talk with the land animals and picture what everything looks like." The orca glanced to Azeros now, fancying he heard the wolf say something. "Are you tired?" Silver Tip asked suddenly. Unable to clearly read wolf language, he thought the canine was just tired, and that's why he wasn't talking.
Azeros and Lost Star
Azeros perked up his ears, smirking slightly at the whale's comment. Seeing as the orca hadn't done anything to annoy him, exactly, he humored him. "Oh yes...when you have Lost Star as a brother...you are very tired, very often." He grinned darkly at Lost Star, who had sent an annoyed glare towards him.
Lost Star shook his crania, tilting his head sideways a bit at the orca's longing to be on land. "You want to be on land? I would give /anything/ to be in the water as you do!" He exclaimed, but then a thought hit him. "How about I go there for you? I could bring you something back, if you like. Perhaps a rabbit, or a squirell! Or even a deer! And I could tell you in person what it's like there! I haven't ever seen it myself." He jumped about excitedly, eager for a response. Azeros sent Silver Tip a look that clearly said "see what I mean?"
Tyali & Silver Tip
Silver Tip laughed, "I see, I see!" Once again, the orca failed to notice the looks exchanged between the two brothers, and he thought they were on good standings with each other.
Tyali flipped his tail up and slammed it into the shallow waves, spraying water everywhere. "Would you really!?" His giant eyes were wide and staring hopefully at Lost Star, "I would love that to no end! Say, I'll find you something from the deeper oceans, how would you like that?"
Azeros and Lost Star
Azeros managed to let out a single bark of laughter, grinning to the orca named Silver Tip. This one, though somewhat naive to wolven language, was seemingly interesting to Azeros. It was not often this wolf found another creature he actually could transpire with and talk to, other than his brother...
Lost star jumped about excitedly again, yipping as his tail wagged vigorously. "I would be glad to do that for you!" He said, chasing his tail playfully. He halted, his pale optics widening. "Would you really get me something from...the ocean?! From out there?!?!" He gasped dramatically. Azeros looked to Silver Tip with another 'This is why I am so tired' expression on his face...though he didn't know if Silver Tip could read his face.
Tyali & Silver Tip
Silver Tip listened to the laughter and gave a series of little clicks, but he could not imitate the noise the wolf had made. "I think I understand why Tyali is so fascinated with you wolves!"
Tyali now laughed, watching Lost Star's excited play. "Hey, I've got an idea!" The orca suddenly said, nodding to his wolf friend, "I'll go get you something from the deep waters, and bring it back as a surprise! And you can get me a suprise from the Lake!" He had no idea what he might retrive for Lost Star, but he'd have a fun time looking for something.
Lost Star and Azeros
Azeros merely grinned.
Lost Star listened intently to Tyali, auds perked. As soon as he finished, Lost Star immediately gasped. "Brilliant!" He said, bouncing about again. He chased his tail a moment, and looked to Azeros. He didn't appear to want to move.
"C'mon Azeros!" Lost Star said impatiently. Azeros sighed, slowly getting up. Lost Star nodded to Tyali and Silver Tip in a sort of salute, and ran off, Azeros jogging behind him.
