... gliding through the water, the orca femme glances behind her at the small female calf. with a powerful push of the flukes, digit picks up speed, every once in a while coming up for air. curved dorsal fin is raised above the surface, as though showing all creatures that she is here and to back off if they desire to pick a fight. making a swift, graceful curve, digit blows bubbles out of her blowhole, then whistles and clicks, waiting for a reply from somebody new ...

... ebony and ivory youngster follows her mother quietly, glancing around. snapping at any fish that come by, kohana speeds along, small chassis swiftly gliding through the cool liquid. staying close to her mother and away from any predators, the youngling leaps into the air playfully, landing with a massive splash back into the water, showing off for the nearby boats. bubbles escape from the small blowhole, and the femora quickly surfaces, spouts, then dives back under, jumping again to catch up with her mother ...


Tyali

The Silv Cove pod dominated the waters around the eastern side of Sparkling Creek Valley, but by no means were aggressive to any other orcas unless they were another pod looking to steal the good hunting grounds. Tyali, as he was want to do, glided into the bay, whistling lightly. He had detected the presence of the others and came to investigate. Slowly, Tyali approached Digit and her youngster. His taller dorsal fin sliced through the water before he took a breath and dove deeper. "New to these parts?" he questioned as he neared, "I'm Tyali."

... listening intently to the other orca's whistle, multi-colored femora watches the pod approach. dial is bobbed up and down in a small nod. yes, we've just arrived. nice to meet you, tyali. my name is digit, and the little once behind me is kohana, my daughter. digit glances behind her to watch in amusement as the youngster hides ffrom the other orcas. ...


Silv Cove Pod

A very large female comes forward, followed by three of her daughters; all of which are grown up by now. "I'm the matriarch of this pod, my name is Sonoya." She says, giving an orca's version of a smile as she saw the young one peek out from behind her mother. "If you are looking for a place to stay, you are welcome to join us. Seals and fish frequent this area. Young whales and other creatures pass near here often as well."

The Silve Cov pod was a large one, so far consisting of nearly thirty members. A young orca and his cousin swam forward, but didn't go past their matriarch. "Hello." he piped up in a shy voice.
