Leila Anderson
Leila had heard about this place where killer whales often visited. It was said that the bay was mainly slick rocks but there were sandy beaches in between. So, she had decided that would be the first place she would visit in this new town. She had always been fascinated by larger sea creatures such as dolphins and killer whales, so this place was probably somewhere she would come often. She hugged her jacket close around her slender frame as she walked along the sandy beach. She wasn't sure if she would actually see any whales today, it was pretty chilly... She hoped she might, though. Her two Border Collies were on leashes that were looped around her wrist, though they walked along pretty well. They had never been away from their home so she wasn't sure how they might react. They were doing well, though so she unhooked the leashes and took out a tennis ball. Both canines perked right up upon seeing it and she gave it a pitch, watching as they bounded after it... This game continued for a while until she decided to give it a rest. She sat down in the sand, looking out over the choppy waters.

Daniel had just been out for a jog when he had come across one place he had never been to, even though he had lived here a while. He had a hoodie on that read TEXAS on it and it was grey around it. He also had on some sweats. He was only planning to go a few miles but it had turned out to be 10 miles so far. As he came up to Orca Bay he stopped to watch a girl play with her two border collies. He climbed down off the rocks he was on and walked over to her. ''Chilly day out heh?'' he said. He sat next to her and looked out into the ocean. He looked over at her ''Names Daniel. Yours?'' he said. Giving a friendly smile. Waiting for any kind of response from the girl.

Leila hadn't been expecting anyone to approach her on a day like today. After all, one wouldn't expect to meet too much company on the beach on a day as cold as today. So, she did jump a bit and turn her head rather quickly when she heard someone climbing down from the rocks behind her. She spotted a boy about her age and she gave him a shy smile as he spoke. Yeah, it's pretty cold... She spoke in soft tones that showed her shy tendencies. She was much different from the rest of her family who were pretty outgoing. Then the boy moved to her and sat next to her. She pushed her brown hair behind her ear as she looked to him with those big blue eyes of hers. He spoke his name and she responded. I'm Leila. She still wore that same shy but friendly smile as she waited for him to respond.
Daniel Vincent
He smiled. ''Nice to meet ya. Didnt mean to scare you a minute ago.'' he said. ''How long you been here?'' he asked. He had been here most his life. He only had his two brothers and his sister now though. Since his parents had died. He waited for an answer from Leila.
Leila Anderson
Leila scratched Briar, who was now laying half on her lap and half in the sand, behind the ear. She listened to what the boy had to say, and she nodded and smiled a bit. Oh, it's fine. I just didn't expect to run into anyone on the beach on such a chilly day. Then he went on to ask her how long she had been here. I just got here a couple of days ago, I'm staying with my older sisters. They have a big ranch outside of town. She liked it here so far, and it was nice to have a little freedom. Her parents had been much harder on her since all of her older siblings had left so she didn't get much freedom. So she was very glad to be here. She waited for his response.
Daniel Vincent
''Oh, im staying down at a friends house for a while.'' He said. He looked at her dogs. ''Pretty dogs you have here'' he said. He smiled and put his hand out for Briar to sniff before petting her. He looked at the water as the waves came in and went.
Leila Anderson
Leila continued to scratch Briar's ears almost absent mindedly. Briar was her constant companion since the pup had been born. She had been born to her mother and father's herding dogs and the only one to receive the blue merle coloration, so she had been Leila's first choice. Then there was Daisy who was laying beside her chewing on a stick, she too was born at her home ranch. The two were half siblings. The boy said he was staying at a friend's for a while and she nodded. That sounds like fun. Mama and Papa would never let me do that. They made sure to tell me when I came here it was only a trial period and if I didn't keep my grades up and help out then I had to move back home. She smiled at the memory of how happy she had been when they had finally gave in and let her come here. Thanks, I've had them both since they were born. This is Briar and the other one is Daisy. Briar sniffed his hand and then licked it before rolling over, while still half on Leila's lap so that they could scratch her belly. So, what is there to do around here? I haven't really gotten to explore much...
Daniel Vincent
He smiled and petted Briar. He looked at Leila. ''Well, theres places to go ride horses. Places to go eat. Watch nature. And other things to do.'' he said. He smiled and looked at Daisy and Briar and then Leila. ''My parents, i wont ever see again cause their gone. Dead. It doesnt bother me anymore cause my brothers and sister have been there for me.'' he said. He looked at the water picking up a flat rock he threw it and it skipped over the water about seven times before floating down.
Leila Anderson
Leila listened to what Daniel had to say, he said that there were plenty of things to do. She nodded and then listened to what he said about his parents. I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hard at first. Then he took a rock and skipped it across the surface of the water. Daisy stood up and barked at the rock. Leila quickly hushed the dog then looked out over the water. It's really pretty here. She had always loved the ocean.
Daniel Vincent
Daniel smiled and listened ''Yep, it was but we all got through'' he said not even a hint of saddness lingered in his voice. He looked at her ''Yep is is pretty here. Reminds me of when I came to get comfort. Came to get a song out of the whales and then they disappeared one day and I never came back, Until now.'' he said and looked out into the ocean to try and spot anything
Leila Anderson
Leila just nodded as he said they all got through it. She wasn't sure what she would do without her mama and papa. Their whole family was very close, after all. Her blue eyes looked out over the choppy water as she hoped to see the whales that were said to come here. So far, she hadn't had much luck spotting them. I wish I could see them. She spoke in a tone that was almost dreamy sounding. She was very interested in sea life since she had been at the aquarium not far from where she had lived. They didn't have big things like whales, though. So, she was dying to see one.
Daniel Vincent
He looked at her and then to the ocean. He suddenly herd a whale ''Their back'' he whispered. Getting up he took his hoody off and then his shirt. He jogged over to the rocks and the climbed up. He jumped off and into the water in a dive. He was soon in the middle of a whole pod of whales! He looked at one as it came up to him. He grabbed on its dorsal fin and let it carry him up to as far as it would be able to go. He then swam back to shore. ''I sure missed them. Their great when you swim with them.'' he said. He sat back down in his wet sweats and then looked at the orcas that were swimming around there.
Leila Anderson
Leile heard an odd sound and she looked out to the water again. She spotted something large breaking the surface of the choppy water. Then she heard the boy beside her get up and she turned to look at him. He stripped his hoodie and shirt off then went up onto the rocks. He dove off them and all she could do is sit there wide eyed and stare as he came up in the middle of the orcas and grabbed the fin on one of their backs. Then once he was closer to the shore he let go and swam back to where she was. I can't believe you actually swim with them! You must be freezing! The wind was quite chilly and he was soaking wet...
Daniel Vincent
He looked at her ''I wouldnt miss a chance to swim with one of the worlds most beautiful thing on the planet.'' he said. He shivered and grabbed his hoodie. He put it back on and looked at her. He smiled and shivered again. He wouldnt miss a chance to swim with an orca ever.
Leila Anderson
Leila smiled as he stated he wouldn't miss a chance to swim with the Orcas. I didn't know that you could swim with them safely. She had never lived near the ocean, she had only gone there on vacation every now and again. Though, she had never seen many different types of wildlife there aside from the occasional jellyfish.
Daniel Vincent
He shrugged ''Depends on their mood. Dont ever approach a Orca that is scared. Always let them approach you. If they do you can swim with them. If not, well its just what they decide.'' he said. He looked out to where the orcas still swam. He then looked at Leila smiled.
Leila Anderson
Leila kept her eyes locked on the orcas in almost an awed state. She was absolutely amazed by the orcas. He told her that it depended on their mood and to always let the whale approach you. That was something that she understood. So it is kind of like dealing with a wild horse? Horses were something that she knew well even at the young age of 15.
Daniel Vincent
He nodded ''Yep just like it, Only your dealing with a whale instead'' he chuckled a little and looked at her. He then looked at the Orcas again. He then looked towards the rocks watching the waves hit the rocks and go down. He watched the Orcas swim as more came. He realized it was more then one pod. It was about six or five! He looked at her ''This is the most of the Orcas we've ad in a while'' he said. He got up and climbed the rocks again. He could see only the Orcas. He climbed down. ''All I can see are the Orcas out there.'' he said pointing
Leila Anderson
She nodded as he spoke, stating that they were indeed just like horses. Well, horses are something I know, so if they are like horses then they can't be too bad. She really didn't think they were bad, she was just a little apprehensive about being in the water with them. Then he looked out over the water and spoke once more before getting up and running up to the high rocks once more. He then climbed back down and pointed, saying all he could see were orcas. She stood up and looked out over the water. Wow! There is a ton of them! She smiled and looked at the whales with interest.
Daniel Vincent
He smiled ''It the most we've had in a long time. More then I could ever see in my life'' he said. He looked to the sky ''Thank you Lord for bringing the Orcas back!'' he said loudly. He looked at Leila and then out to the ocean smiling. He raise his arms and and let the wind go through him. He was happy again and nothing could change that.
Leila Anderson
Leila smiled as she saw a young whale break the surface next to it's mother. She loved seeing the baby animals especially. Look at the baby whale! It's so cute! She cooed over the baby. There were lots of baby animals back at her sisters' ranch but they didn't compare to the baby whale she could see out in the water now. She smiled as she pointed it out and giggled as it blew water from it's blowhole. It took a little while for Leila to grow comfortable around someone, but Daniel seemed friendly and she could see herself maybe hanging out with him again sometime.
Daniel Vincent
He smiled as he saw the baby whale and mother. He looked at Leila. He could get used to having another friend. He looked back out at the water. He then laid down in the sand. He looked at the sky and listened to the whales as they sang their melody to eachother. ''Listening is fun to hear them. Watching is more fun. Watching and listening is way more fun.'' he said. He smiled and looked up at her.
Leila Anderson
Leila stood there watching the baby whale until it once again lowered itself under the surface of the water. Then she lowered herself to sit on the sand once more. At about the same time Daniel lay down in the sand and looked up at the sky. She too broke her gaze from the whales to look up at the clear blue sky. There was barely a cloud in sight. It was a very nice day today despite the coolness. She could deal with the chill, though. Yeah, they are amazing... She stated the obvious, but she was unsure what else she might say.
Daniel Vincent
He nodded and then looked at her. ''So, what do you want to do? I mean we could go down to the Corral and ride a few horses that my brother owns. Or we could go looking at the dogs at the pound.'' he said. He looked at her waiting her response
Leila Anderson
Leila was beginning to like Daniel, only as a friend, of course, she didn't know him well enough to think of him as more yet. But, he had good ideas. He offered for them to either go riding at the corral or to look at the dogs at the pound. She thought for a moment then responded. Hmmm, a trip to the pound could be nice... I'm thinking of maybe volunteering there after I get settled in. She now stood up and dusted the sand from her butt before turning to look at Daniel once again. He would have to lead the way because she didn't know how to get there.
Daniel Vincent
He smiled ''I already work there. When your ready to I could always help you'' he said. He got up. Dusting all the sand off of him he looked at her. ''Come on. We can always come back when we need to see the Orcas'' he said. He started off to the pound and then looked behind him. He would have to do what he needed at the pound for the day. Like, cover the dogs cages in case it snowed. Give them food and water. Take them for a walk. It was all what he needed to do. He would also go around and advertise for people to get dogs. So thats why he would take them out for a walk.
