Covering vast portions of this land are short-grass prairies and fields. Hundreds of ancient oaks, many of them over 500 years old, dot the landscape and offer bountiful shade and food. Patches of coniferous and deciduous forests can be found as well. To the north is a large, incredibly deep lake with dark blue waters. This lake is known as Elk Stand Lake, for long ago, a now extinct species of elk use to live here. Their antlers can still be found now and then, which measure dozens of feet in length.
