The black Thoroughbred came galloping steadily into the area of the marsh. Last time a bear cub-- what would this place hold in store for them? Shadin didn't care now, he simply wanted to escape the looks of that cub at the lake. It wasn't his decision to go though, but he was completely fine with this as well.
Slowing briskly to a halt at the side of the murky waters, he lifted his dial and scanned the area with his bright blue eyes. By now, the white diamond on his chest was not only marked with the blood shed from the previous barbed wire, but also mud and dirt splattered on it. He was probably beginning to look like a mess, but he could care less about that at the moment. His pelt was a bit wet, damp from both the water from the lake and his own sweat. His mane and tail flapped along, the last droplets of liquid falling from the pointed tips of hair. Breathing deeply and smoothly, he then lowered his dial, and simply stood there in plain sight. The trees were dull around here, the scents were mostly of mud and dirty water, he could easily smell. He then waited, as though the human upon his back was like the leader. In a way he was, but Shadin had longed for human company before.
Eli sighed when they reached the Marsh. "Where have you taken me..." He said, looking around. He watched the water for a moment, keeping an eye out for the creatures that resided in it. "I guess it doesn't matter now. This is safe enough." He sat down on a log and looked up at the sky. By this time he was sure that he had been abandoned on an uncharted island. How else could there be such dramatic changes in environment in one place? Yes, he would learn to survive here. He would hunt and gather his own food and build his own buildings. This place would be his.
Shadin's auds simply swiveled at the human's sounds, before going back to swiveling. He could easily find some civilization around here, somehow. He had a pretty decent nose, though it'de take a bit of scavenging to come across anything.
Sighing, he dipped his elegant head down and sniffed at the water. It was dirty, full of muck he could easily tell. He gave a snort, finding it quite unpleasent, and then swung his head around to watch the human. This was a strange fellow, all tangled and torn, but Shadin was just the equivalent. The holes and cuts stabbed across his font side had stopped hurting a while ago, but they weren't fine. An infection waiting to happen.
Then suddenly, he perked up and spun around, banner flicking out as he did so. Using his skilled yet slightly ached limbs, he darted over the ground and gave a few bucks, though was careful not to push it. The last thing he needed was to fall and break a leg, and his legs were hurting. He continued this for a while, finding nothing else to do.
Eli chuckled when Shadin bucked around. "Careful, boy!" He laughed. "I don't want to have to carry you everywhere we go." He clenched his teeth while he stood up. The wounds all over his body made it painful to do anything and they both needed to get help. He looked off into the distance, squinting his eyes. "It looks like we're stuck here. You and I might as well make ourselves at home, unless you've got a better idea." He said, speaking to his horse as if he were a human. A small boulder sat on the ground in front of him, and he sparked an idea. He picked up some small purple stones and began rubbing them on the smooth boulder. Soon enough, her had a handful of arrowheads. He held one is his right hand and the others in his left, and began throwing them at a tree. They hit the tree with great force and became embedded in it. He pulled them out and did the same thing. Over and over and over again...Just as a way to pass the time.
The stallion eased to a halt after a few more quick bucks, and then circled around at hearing the human's voice. Shadin could feel himself becoming a bit on the lonesome side, having no other animal to speak with. The human could talk to him until his voice ran out, but Shadin wanted something he could actually understand and talk with. However, he pushed these thoughts aside and simply stood there now, giving his banner a few simple flicks and his head a toss. He was ready to turn and head for the water, until he noticed the human doing something. Sharpening stones? This is a strange human... he thought silently to himself, watching from back where he was.
Wanting to figure out what was going on, he stepped toward the two-legged, and came up from behind him. Once close enough, he reached out and plucked at Eli's shoulders with his dull teeth, oblivious to the fact that the human was probably sore enough. But Shadin was bored, and when he got bored, he often could become quite troublesome.
Eli smiled as he shot the sharpened stones, forgetting all that was going on. He too was getting tired of not having another human around. He was almost in a trans as the stones hit the tree. But a sharp pain in his shoulder woke him up. "Ouch!" He exclaimed, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Okay. We need to get some help now." He once again looked off in the distance, holding his hand above his eyes to block the sunlight. "This way." He said, climbing onto Shadin's back and gently kicking him.
Shadin snorted when the human mounted again, and he swung his dial around before turning forward again. At this, he was full attention, and gave a flick of his banner. At the kick, he started fourth, heading in the direction he was facing, not moving from his path. Then he started off at the gallop, headed straight towards civilization.
