Nhosh & Herd

A large red deer saunted across the boggy ground, keeping himself alert and clear from the dangerous sides of the water where alligators may lurk. This stag wasn't like normal red deer though; he was known as a 'Switch' or 'Killer' stag. His long antlers, still in velvet and growing, had no tines save for the brow ones. This made his antler beams like two long daggers, hence the 'killer' name. Without any upper tines to lock with his opponents, his antler beams would slide past the other stag's antlers and peirce flesh, even through bone.

From behind the stag, three other deer emerged from the brush. Two were white-tailed deer and one other red deer. The two white-taileds, both young bucks, had jet-black fur, save for the white patch on their rump and tail. They were melanistic; meaning they had extra pigment that turned their fur black. It was due to a genetic error.

The red deer, a hind, also had a rare genetic disorder, although it wasn't as rare as the two melanistic bucks. The hind was almost completely white except for patches of normal fur on her shoulders, haunches, and head. Her muzzle had a strange arch in it as well. She was piebald, as they called it.

The four deer, led by the switch stag, were forming a herd of misfits. Nhosh, their leader, had formed the group after leaving his own herd.

Almuit Rune Herd

A familiar scent came to Nhosh, the leader of the odd group. Tossing his head lightly, he nodded to the others, "Follow me." With that, the red stag lead his small herd away.
