Flurry

She enters the marsh. It was easy to tell she had pups for the scent was on her and her stomach area seemed a bit bigger then for she had milk to nurture them. She had never told her freinds at the marshyet the news. She sits on the shore and howls for Galar, Akili, and Dima. She was nervous about telling them hoe she ended up with pups but she felt much better now after reassurence from the Lady, Starlit, and Spark.

Galar, Akili, & Dima

It took a few moments, but the three appeared, gliding at the water's serface. "Flurry! Good to see you!" Galar hailed to his friend as he reached the shore and clambered up. "I haven't seen you for a while, how have you been?" The alligator studied his friend a moment, noticing something different. But he didn't have the sense of smell that wolves and dogs possesed. Nor did he know that canines nursed their young.

Dima scuttled up beside Galar, trying to hide the fact that he was injured. Even with the loss of part of his leg and substantail damage to his tail, he wasn't too affected physically. He worried more that he would appear weak in the eyes of his friends.

Akili quickly noticed something different about Flurry, but she too had no clue that canines nursed their young. "Hhhhmm, you look different..." she said, then gave a grin just like Galar always did, "I know! You're pregant!" she declared happily, on assumption of course. She knew that pregnant alligators have bigger stomachs before they lay their eggs, so she thought the same about Flurry.

Flurry

She smiled and wagged her tail. "Hello!" She yipped happily. "Its nice to see you all again though what happened?" She said takeing notice of Dimas injuries. She noticed a few small ones on Galar but they didnt seem as bad as Dimas. She then heard Akili. "Well not exactly. Well i went Down Town one day and their was this male wolf. After surprise attackting me he forced me to breed with him. I killed him after though when I saw he was unaware." She seemed to speak alittle faster and more nervously. "Then I was pregnaunt and after awhile I had pups. Spark is watching them so I can come visit. Oh and Akili I look bigger because wolves and dogs nurse their young with milk." She explained. "The pups are a joy though even though I didnt want them to start off with but now I am glad to have them. There are 3. 2 males and a female." She finished. She waited for Dimas reply and to see what the rest of them would say.

Galar, Akili, & Dima

Akili looked angry at first after she heard what the dog had done, but thrilled to hear that Flurry had pups. "You'll have to bring them down here when they are bigger!" she piped up happily. She didn't know what milk was, but she had the general idea of what Flurry meant, and otherwise pretended to know.

Galar's eyes narrowed a bit, "It's too bad that I can't travel so freely on land like you. I'd teach dogs like that a lesson." His attitude lightened then, like Akili's had, "Yes, do bring them down when they are old enough! You were the youngest wolf I've ever seen when I first met you." he pointed out.

Dima listened to them speak, then quickly explained what had happened, with a bit of vexation, "This bigger alligator tried to catch me and eat me; he snuck into Galar's territory. I tried to fight him, but he was really big! Then Galar came and fought with him and drove him off." Dima gave a light sigh and rested his head down. The loss of part of his leg wasn't that bad for him, because he didn't need to dig nests like the female's did. But, it would make moving around a bit harder.

Flurry

She smiled and nodded. "Thanks!" She yipped to them. She then heared Dima and shwoed sympothy. "Your ok though right?" She asked. She then turned to Akili and Galar. "Ill bring them defianatly when they all can walk. They had just opened their eyes befor I left." She says excitedly.

Galar, Dima, & Akili

Dima gave a single nod, "Yeah, I'm fine. Stupid alligator..." he mumbled under his breath, speaking of the one who attacked him.

Galar and Akili both shared confusion again about what Flurry told them. Akili decided to speak up about it, "You mean baby wolves don't open their eyes when they are born? And they can't move around?"

Galar added his own imput, "Hhhmm, it must be hard for them to survive then. Akili and Dima could swim the day they hatched."

Flurry

She grinned. "Nope they dont. But they do a few weeks after they are born. Its not hard for them to survive because the ladys house is protection just like in the wild a wolf pack would protect the pups especially the mother. They also cant talk or walk right away and are born with little fur. Oh and they have to have milk but can start on milk when their teeth grow." She explains. "In the wild and not in the wild I have heard pups survive most of the time." She. "Why is it hard for baby alligators to survive?" She asks chatting away.

Galar, Akili, & Dima

They were all very interested to hear these startling differences between them. Akili took up the role of talking, while Dima and Galar listened intently.

"Wow, I never would have guessed about that! Galar says that the mother alligators protect their babies, but there are so many that she just can't keep up with them all. But we are hatched from our eggs and can swim, hunt, and be just like our parents!"

Galar added a bit to that, "Not many alligator young surive their first year. The mother does her best to protect them, but there are so many babies to look after and so many preditors that want to eat them... Akili and Dima are lucky."

"Yeah, lucky 'cause you're our mom!" Dima joked, rolling his eyes.

Akili gave a classic alligator-grin before asking yet another question, "So the fathers help watch the pups? Galar says father alligators protect their territory and all their mates within their territory, but don't really care for the young." That was another topic that the alligators didn't know about; wolves usually mate for life.

Flurry

She smiled. "Wow thats cool! That baby alligators get to do everything right away. Its sad that some die though." She took a moment to think. "Oh well most wolves are mates for life and the father protects the babies as well The mother and father take equal responsibility." She smiles she then hears the term 'and all their mates'. "Alligators have more then one mate? Thats a bit strange." She laughs as she asks the question.

Galar, Akili, & Dima

"Wolves only have one mate?" Akili asked, surprised by this information. "Hhhhmm, I guess that sounds right though. If the whole pack looks after the pups, then they have a better chance at survive, so you don't need to have so many pups."

Galar nodded at his thought and replied to Flurry, "Yep, we have many mates and we have to protect them all. But we don't help them catch food or watch the young. But sometimes when we catch something really big, we all share it."

Dima piped in now, "Yeah, and when we smaller alligators catch something, sometimes we share it with each other."

Flurry

She smiled. "Wow alligators live so different from wolves." She exclaimed. She wagged her tail but looked to each of them. "I am going to go now to see how my little ones are doing. Im sure Spark did a good job at watching them for me. I will probabley bring them the next time I come. Ok bye!" She yips and then spints off to the woodland farm.

Galar, Akili, & Dima

The three bayed her good-bye before she left. Galar crawled a bit further out onto the shore and rested his broad head on the ground. He was sunbathing, now that the weather was good and the day was warm.

Dima took to the water to hunt.

Akili bathed a bit in the sun, then returned to the water to hunt as well.
