Nyx
Nyx prowled through Galar's Marsh, keeping her eye out for gators. The fae dipped her head down after making sure there weren't any around, and lapped at the water. The cool liquid soothed her throat. How long had it been since that big cat chased her off and she last saw Hawk. Awhile, she summarised. She hoped he was okay.
Hawk
Casual paw-steps brought the silvery-gray wolf along the far edge of the marsh, loping along at an easy pace. Things had been so chaotic in the last few weeks that Hawk had scarcely any time away from the pack, but today was one of those rare ones were he didn't have any duties. No patrolling, no pup-sitting, no hunting, just a day to take some time for himself and let his mind unwind.
A few flakes of snow were falling from the sky, but the ground itself hadn't yet frozen, and the water was open and rippling gently under an occasional breeze. In fact, he could hear it lapping now! Lapping pretty loudly, actually...
Hawk froze, ears cocked and head swiveled to the side. His golden eyes darted about until the locked onto a pattern of black and white fur that he immediately recognized, and realized the source of the lapping sound. It was her! "Nyx!" The excited bark came before he could stop it, and already his tail was dancing behind him.
Nyx
Nyx's head shot up at a familar male's voice. One that she had been worried about for months. She turned in Hawk's direction, her body twisting around to get a good look at him. "Hawks!" She barked, her excitement was loud and clear.
She hurried her way toward him, her tail wagging behind her. "Hawks!" She barked again, almost jumping up and down. "You're not dead!"
Hawk
Her excitement belied any fears that Nyx might be mad at him for leaving her at the Bay those many months ago, and also showed that she looked to be in decent health. "Nyx! By the winds, it's so good to see you! I was afraid, after the cat... you know.." But he shook his head, as if to dismiss that line of thought, "How are you doing?!"
Like a puppy greeting their favorite packmate, Hawk could not contain the excited strokes of his tail as it swept from side to side, or the way his front paws briefly pranced into the muddy soil before Nyx reached him. Without giving it a conscious thought, he reached his muzzle forward and gave the side of her cheek a friendly nuzzle.
