Shadow
Shadow sniffed the air, looking for some prey. He needed to eat something.
He waited in some bushes, so he could ambush some prey.
*Prey*
A V-line of geese were soaring high overhead. Their honking cries drifted down to the land below as they made their way south. But suddenly, there was a deafening boom. One of the geese tumbled in the air and began to spiral towards the ground, flapping weakly. The bird hit the ground a few yards from Shadow, and lay limp. She was near death, and a small pool of blood seeped from her stomach.
Shadow
Shadow carefully picked up the bird. he did not have to kill it however, it was already dead by that time. The first time in my life...
He started to eat the goose. Savoring it. I wonder what the boom was...could it be a plane? Those twoleg animals? With silver things that can kill you? He wondered.
*Dog & Humans*
The rythemic thump of feet pounding across the ground could be heard. Then the form of a goldish-colored dog, with sheeny fur, came sprinting towards Shadow. The dog stopped suddenly, flicking her tail high and cocking her head to the side in a puzzled manner, "Who are you? Hey..." The dog stepped closer, but didn't seem very agressive at all, "You've got my master's bird!"
Shadow
I'm Shadow. But , I'm afraid you're mistaken. I don't have your master's bird
Shadow said fearlessly. He was ready to fight for his prey, but the fight might atrack the dog's master. He hoped that, that would not happen.
*Dog & Human*
The dog's eyes furrowed in confusion, not getting that Shadow had intentionally taken the bird into his posession. "I saw his bird fall around this area... are you sure this isn't his bird?" She began to sniff about in a wide circle around Shadow, but to no avail of course. "I think you may be mistaken, Shadow..." The golden retreiver-mix trailed off, hearing her master calling from nearby.
"Sheba!"
The dog lifted her head, "I do beleive that's my master's bird... I don't want him to get angry at me for not bringing it back..." Sheba edged, not at all one for conflict.
Shadow
You're name is Sheba? Well...I did hear a boom...But I have not eaten for days. Well, I don't care what prey I get... as long as I get prey. So if somehow you could get me a rabbit, some mice, another bird, or even big prey, you may have the bird. He barked. Sheba had a nice pet life, food, shelter, water, but Shadow loved the wild. Did she understand that he had to hunt for suvival...not for fun? Well, if she did,
Sheba would try and help.
Sheba & *Human*
She tilted her head to the side a bit, "I could try, I guess. Well, why don't you come with Master and I! He's good at catching things." The dog offered, oblivious to the rivalry between hunters and predators, like wolves.
"Sheba!!"
The call was louder now; the human was very near...
Shadow
"I'm sorry, I can't my destiny lies in the wild. Meet you here at noon in a week." He replied. He dropped the goose and bounded away from Sheba, not wanting to get close to the human.
Sheba & *Human*
She nodded, "Alright, I'll be waiting for you then!" Sheba barked back, watching Shadow bound away. Her master soon arived and spotted his partially eaten goose. The man was startled, and saw the classic wolf prints leading away. He muttered something under his breath, looking from his placid Sheba to the wolf tracks. Finally he turned and headed away, calling Sheba to his side. The dog followed obidiently after her master, waving her feathery tail in the air.
Shadow
He came back in a week, waiting for her.
