*Something*

In a deep, wide ravine that was choked with low-growing shrubs and trees, something moved about... The wind was blowing harshly, wisking the creature's scent away in a confusing message that was too hard to read. And all the vegetation obscured any curious eyes from seeing just what was rummaging around below...

Black Diamond

Fetale saw somethin move and heard somethin.Beeing a loner she got curious alot.She moved down the slope and started sniffing around to try to pick the creatures scent up but to no proviel.She got alittle closer.

*Creatur & Pup*

Suddenly, there was a rustle of leaves, a snarl, and then a distinct yelp. An adolescent wolf pup, about nine months of age, came rushing out of the brush, almost colliding with Black Diamond. She yelped and sprung to the side to avoid running into the adult, then cowered to the ground. Her ears went instinctively back and her tail tucked to show the older wolf submission, "I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to... er, I wasn't watching where I was going..." She stammered and glanced back into the vegetation.

Something was stiring still in the brush, but whatever it was, it was small. It made an obscure hissing, rumbling noise...

Black Diamond

She saw the pup running and just jumped to the side before collision."its okay little one"She turned her dial to her."what is wrong?"One aud caught the hissing and turned in the direction.

*Creatur & Pup*

Her ears came up a bit when she recieved no aggressive response from Black Diamond. Standing up more, she glanced fearfully from the adult to the brush. "M-my family, they..." The young wolf shook her head, shivering a bit, "I was hunting, and I came across this weasely thing... he seemed sick..." She took a few steps away from the brush and wiped a paw over the lower side of her jaw. A bit of blood stained the creamy-white fur there, where something had just bitten her. "It bit me... and..." She gulped loudly, shivering again as fear robbed her of her words.

From the vegetation, the hissing creature revealed itself. It was a mink; soft brown in color with tiny beady eyes. It traveled across the open ground a few yards from where the two wolves were, apparently not noticing them yet. Still the creature hissed and rumbled as he moved, and his gate was very wobbly, as if his cooridation and balance were off.

Black

She saw the creature.She was curious but the way it was walking she didnt want anything to do with it.She growled."you were bitten by that?"she knew about a thing called rabies.

*Creatur & Pup*

The youngster looked away, whimpering a bit, "Y-yes" she replied weakly, fearfully. She had never been told about rabies... but she had seen the ravages of it. "Can you help me? I've got no family now..." Now her brown-gold eyes strayed pleadingly to Black Diamond, begging for help.

The mink continued its jerky, staggering pace, hissing and snapping at nothing in particular.

Black Diamond

"im not sure you could have rabies and i can't risk getting that"she whimpered looking ot the little one but then back to the mink.

*Mink & Pup*

Her head came down and she whined pleadingly, "But I'll be all alone!" Her wide eyes shifted to the mink, then darted to Black Diamond once again, "My family... they are all dead now! And I will die on my own..." The youngster inched closer to the wolfess, lowering her body more and giving a small wag of her tail, trying to look appeasing and cute.

The mink continued on in a more or less straight path.

Black

"fine but the first sign of rabies from you your gone"she said calmly.She sighed.

*Mink & Pup*

Her head perked up a bit and a look of hope shown in her eyes, "Thank you!" She replied. She glanced one last time at the mink before shuffling to the other side of Black Diamond. "What's youre name?"

black

"black diamond"she said quietly.

*Pup & Mink*

The pup nodded and was about to reply when she yipped in surprise. The mink had somehow gotten turned around and spotted the two! He began to race towards them, snapping and fumbling as he went. "We must run!" The pup cried in alarm, her fur standing up along her back.

Black

She gently picked the pup up.And ran for it.She somewhat zigg zagged away not wanting to get bit.

*Mink & Pup*

The pup instinctively curled up as she was lifted by Black.

The mink chased after them, but with such a small stature and tiny legs, there was no way he could keep up with any wolf. Black Diamond easy outran him. But she'd have to get out of his site, or he'd just keep going after her.

Black Diamond

She quickly left the the site of the mink and ran ziggs and then when the mink wasnt in site she placed the pup down.

*Mink & Pup*

The mink was quickly put out of site and danger. Loosing site of the wolves, he wondered on aimlessly.

The pup sighed deeply and looed to Black Diamond, "Thank you very much for saving me!" She exclaimed.
