Cortniarri

The wolfess trods in over the sandy area, scoping the land with her golden eyes. She tested the wind and ground for any scent of prey, and waited for her pups.

Amber, Charcoal

Amber and Charcoal pad in scenting the area for any prey. Amber and Charcoal sit near their mom and wait.

*Many things*

To your noses comes many scents. There are ground squirrel in abundance, and it wouldn't be too hard to catch enough to make a good meal. Search around, and you should find many...

The strong scent of bear drifts over the area, tinged with blood. A bear's kill of an oxen is half a mile from where you are, but the bear might still be around.

A small band of elk can be found near a river a mile from where you are.

Amber, Charcoal

Amber smells the half eaten Ox and begins to walk that way occassionally stopping waiting for her mother. "Mom how about this way."

As Amber does that Charcoal slinks up close to a squirrel and pounces at it fangs bared as he tries to grab it.

Cortinarri

She could easily detect the bear's scent, but she was much swifter than any bear. She would lead it away if it came near, or at least get the pups out of the way. Cortinarri nods to Amber, "Be watchful of any bears. It's always a thrill to steal their food." she follows after the pup, and makes her way to the oxen. "This is an easy meal, as long as the bear doesn't show up again. Eat your fill." Cortinarri encourages to Amber, while keeping a watch out. She was also watchful of Charcoal, to make sure he wasn't in any danger.

Amber

She nods and sprints over to the Ox looking around before she put her head down She began to eat the Ox.

*Squirrel & Bear*

The squirrel Charcoal was after was too slow and preoccupied to react quick enough. You are able to catch it, but a few squirrels nearby sound an alarm and dash into their burrows. If you wait, they might come back up.

A small black bear was the owner of the kill, and he wasn't too far away. It didn't take long before he caught scent of the other and charged toward his kill! But, the bear was not a full grown one. He paused several yards from the ox and gave a roar, first trying to scare them away.

Amber, Charcoal

Charcoal carries the squirrel over to the others and drops it and snarls at the bear.

Amber looks up and jumps back frightened. She snarls with her brother as they try to scare it off.

Cortinarri

Cortinarri lifts her tail and bristles her fur to make herself look larger. She took one brisk step toward the bear and rumbled. Her rumbled quickly grew into a snarl, showing she wouldn't give up this easy meal by the bear's intimidation.

*Bear*

He first backed up a step, and glanced around warily. If there was a pack around, he wouldn't take a chance at attacking these wolves. But he didn't see any. The bear rose to his hind legs and roared again in warning. Surely he could take on a wolf and two pups; so the bear dropped on all fours again and charged toward them!

Charcoal, Amber

Amber howled to try and frighten the bear and she backed up as it charged she growled as she backed away.

Charcoal stepped forward and growl. He was afraid but wasn't going to show it.

Cortinarri

She stood her ground at first, then evaded its charge by leaping lightly to the side. She snarled savagely at the bear to attract its attention to her instead of the pups so they wouldn't get hurt. But Cortinarri got an idea from Amber's howl. As much as she didn't want the rest of the pack around, they would certainly be able to chase this bear off.

Keeping her eyes on the bear, Cortinarri howled loudly for the rest of the Silver Glades pack; or who ever heard the howl.

Catalpa & Xia

The energetic beta comes sprinting over the top of an esker, heading for the source of the howls she heard. Once she gets close enough to see what's going on, Catalpa rushes toward the bear, howling loudly as well.

A few moments later, the wolverine, Xia, comes galloping awkwardly over the eskers. She stops beside Catalpa and flashes her fangs at the bear in warning.

Amber, Charcoal

Amber howled once more after her mother then she snarled once more at the bear.

Charcoal continued to snarl at the bear also.

*Bear*

He slows down his charge when he hears them howl. The bear backs off a bit, still roaring. He was going to charge again, but then Catalpa and Xia showed up.

All the sound and flashing fangs were too much. If the pack kept howling, more wolves might show up and possibly kill him. Enraged, but clearly defeated, the bear turns and lumbers off quickly, leaving the wolves to his kill.

Catalpa & Xia

Catalpa was tempted to chase the bear further, and Xia was up to follow too. But, the beta was genuinely curious about these pups that she's never seen. They didn't look like true wolves, and they really didn't smell that way either.

"Hello, who are you two?" she asks Amber and Charcoal. Catalpa was very outspoken. Xia hardly ever spoke, but was defiantly not shy. The wolverine plodded over to the kill and began to eat a bit. Still, she listens to what the pups might say.

Amber, Charcoal

Amber smiles. "I'm Amber and that's my brother Charcoal. Cortinarri is our mom." Amber said wagging her tail happily. She pads over to the kill and begins to eat.

Charcoal smiles. "Yes she and a few other wolves saved us from..." He paused for a moment. "... Humans" He said that last word with a little hate in his voice. Charcoal and Amber were half collie and half wolves. Charcoal pads over to his mother and stands by her as he eats the kill.

Catalpa & Xia

"It's nice to meet you two." the wolfess replies, then turns a quizative eye to Cortinarri. "You've adopted pups, have you? It doesn't seem like your..." she searches for the right word, "Well, your personality." The beta smiles though, "I'm glad for that, Cortinarri. You need pups to look after." after saying that, she walks over to the kill and begins to eat some.

Cortinarri

Cortinarri struggled to hold back a snarl or threat. She walked over to the kill, eating as well. "This was our kill, Catalpa." she points out with edgy words.

Amber, Charcoal

Charcoal continued eating.

Amber sighed for a moment. A little confused she started eating.

Charcoal watched for a moment. "Mom they did help scare that mean bear away so don't be so mad." He says a little confused. He becomes quiet again and starts to eat once more.

Cortinarri

She glances toward Charcoal, and offers a slight nod. She continues eating in silence, while looking towards Xia every now and then.

Once finished, Cortinarri stretches slightly and looks to her two pups. "When you're finished eating, what would you like to do?" her voice was cheerful, and she turned away turned from Catalpa to blatantly ignore her.

Catalpa & Xia

Catalpa raises her fur slightly at Cortinarri's words, but continues to eat. The beta simply raises her tail slightly to remind the omega that she had authority over her, but she didn't want to rub it in; Catalpa knew Cortinarri had a bad attitude.

Xia doesn't pay any mind to the omega's words, and continues to eat.

Soon, they both are finished. "It was nice to meet you two." Catalpa says, then they both turned and left.

Coal, Amber

Both pups finish eating. they both clean their fur. "I dot know." Amber replies. She and Charcoal both nuzzle there mother.

Cortinarri

She nuzzles both pups in returns, smiling. Something catches her attention and makes the fur along her back raise slightly. It was faint, but she could still her a distant noise coming from their pack lands, or at least somewhere in that direction. The sky was very dark in that direction as well.

She quickly turns her attention back to her pups, "Lets go back to our pack lands. There is a new pup there you can meet." A sudden thought struck her, but she didn't say anything. Cortinarri glanced at the darkened sky and walks off toward the Silver Glades den site, leaving the rest of the kill for scavengers.

Charcoal, Amber

Amber follows her mother excitedly and no worry.

Charcoal was a little excited but wondering why the sky was so dark. He follows closely to both his mother and sister.
