Onok

Onok was feeling good. He'd recently split from his father's herd to establish his own, and had successfully chased a wolf from their land. Now he had to fill that land, preferably with as many mares as he could gather.

The draft mix sprinted across the ridge of a low dune, sand flying high under the impact of his broad daggers. Behind him waved an ivory banner, complimenting the pale palour of his backside, while contrasting the deep chocolate tones of his front half. A few stripes also adored his hind legs, and along with the bristly, upright mane of pale cream atop his neck, one might guess at the trace of exotic equine that flowed through his veins. His was the grandchild of Defcon, and he proudly bore his zebra heritage.

Onok slowed and cantered to a stop at the highest point of the esker. Chocolate eyes surveyed the land around him. Seeing no mares, nor any nasty wolves to hassle with, the stallion rose on his hindlimbs and belted out a roar, letting everyone know who and where he was. With any luck, a mare or two would be within earshot.
