Windsong

He was old. Time was catching up on the Arctic Wolf-he was nearly ten years old and the age was surprising after what he had been through. The male could've been dead, killed by enemies and slaughtered by those poor little victims from years ago. But, no, Windsong had survived. From grief, love and betrayal, he was alive.

Windsong was hunting on the Eskers, for his adopted daughter Amari. He chased a white-tailed doe across the eskers, but the female soon fled away. Windsong stoo there, panting heavily and his sides heaving. His joints hurt and his muscles stung. He had loved to run, but the task became an agonizing burden to him. In a pack, Windsong would have his packmates to hunt for him. But that was not so--his family, whoever and wherever they where, were just blurry images in his mind. Although Amari had jogged his memory, the amnesia was still a thick mist in his brain.

He lifted his silver-flecked muzzle. The male's golden eyes softened with both embarrassment and sorrow, for he knew he was truly and very old for a wild canine. Windsong sucked in the pre-dawn air, looking at the lightening sky. The White Devil knew he had to return to Amari soon--and her young offspring. Who knows who was out there that just wanted to mess with a young coyote like Amari.

Windsong pivoted and began to stroll uneasily towards where Amari had camped out for the night. Out of the blue, Martyr, a psychotic wolf, sprung out from behind a pile of rocks and went for Windsong. The big male was alarmed by the assault, but gallantly fought back. Just as Martyr had the upper hand, Windsong turned the tide and went to end her. In a swift snap of his jaws, the female had died. Her and her days of killing were over.

Windsong was pooling with blood, his wounds seeping heavily. With such injuries, he could die before an hour. Amari. I need to get to Amari. She needs my protection, Windsong thought, his mind in a cloud. Tahti can't be alone with the pups. I need to be with her...

He got closer to where Amari was, before collapsed. Windsong yelped, his throat burning and his body spasming. It wouldn't be much longer...

Amari

When the sky finally falls
If you're holding me
I can die finally knowing
It ends peacefully

Amari, now fully grown, watched her father try to hunt. She felt sorry for him. She really did. She knew he was getting old. When Martyr jumped out, Amari leapt forward to help Windsong, but he had already killed Martyr before Amari could get there.

The coyote stood still and stiff. "Dad..." She squeaked. That's when Tahti made herself known. "Windsong" She said in a more alpha-like voice. "Don't leave me, Windsong. I love you. Please don't leave me..."

Windsong

Windsong smiled softly, licking Amari's chin. "I won't leave for good. I'll be hear, in your heart." Windsong offered her a nuzzle before he rested his head on the ground with exhaustion. His body seized and pain became full-known to his daughter. "Tahti was such a great coyote. She loved everyone and took them in despite what they had done to her in the past. I was one of her refudgees...and soon her mate. Go, Amari, to where Tahti ruled. Manahcob, you'll find her sons, daughters and grandchildren there. They are yours to rule."

With a last gasp, Windsong saw the images of Tahti. Or, perhaps, it was Amari. But, nevertheless, the white wolf knew he was leaving behind a great legacy. One that his pups, his grandchildren and their children would carry on for eons to come. And Amari--she would too.

Aphrodite

Aphrodite had decided to find some more herbs for her collections when she smelt Windsong and that pup. she froze though as she grew closer she realized something. Windsong was dead or dieing. Her ear flicked back and approach slowly her tail and head down as she approached. She wasn't exactly sure what to say to the little one or anything. She stopped a safe distance from her and watched her ears back trying to look less threatening.

Amari

Amari nuzzled Windsong. Poor Windsong. He had made a huge impact on the Valley. Despite doing a few things he shouldn't have done, everybody still seemed to love him one way or another. He was a remarkable wolf.

"I know you will, Windsong." Amari said, sobbing. "But I want you to stay with me. You can't leave me."

But it was clear to her that Windsong was going fast. She couldn't stand to see his pain. "I-... I can't, Windsong. I'm not like you and Tahti. I... I'm just a pup!" She fell down beside the white wolf, tears streaming down her face. "Don't leave me like this..."

Amari wept over Windsong's body. She didn't notice Aphrodite there. Not yet. Her world had come crashing down on her.

Aphrodite

aphrodite stood there. She didn't know what to do Amari was scared of her from the last meeting so she didn't want to make a move to comfort her. She made a whimpering noise to try and get her attention. Her tail low and even under her as she stared in disbelieve and shock. She knew he would always love Tahti but she still had feelings for him despite it.

Amari

The coyote looked at Aphrodite with sore and red teary eyes. "He's gone... I tried to save him, but...he's gone." She closed her eyes and sobbed. She was too sad to even remember her fear of Aphrodite. "Now I have to lead the Refugees. Alone and afraid. I'm not Tahti. She was a great leader. I'm just Amari."

Aphrodite

When the coyote didn't freak out she slowly moved forward and she nuzzled windsong and licked his muzzle and then lowered her head to Amari. You did what you could and I believe you can lead them if he had faith in putting you in charge. You need to try atleast and im sure the pack will help youShe spoke softly and made to nuzzle her but if she didn't want her to she would withdraw.

Amari

Amari shook her head. "I can't... I just can't..." Then she looked down at Windsong. If he wanted her to do this, so be it. That was his dying wish. "Okay... But... Will you come with me?" She stood still as Aphrodite nuzzled her, not drawing away or anything.

Aphrodite

She stared at her a bit shocked at her words.I would love to but im not so sure how i would be recieved or if any of them still hold a grudge against my familyShe said. Her tail twitched. She would love to help Amari but she knew that some might not welcome her.

Amari

Amari shrugged. "I'm their alpha now. Anybody who does not welcome you will be reprimanded." She was sounding more and more like Tahti with every passing day. "Would you like to come with me?"

Aphrodite

She smiled.I shall come with you thenShe spoke softly reaching out to nuzzle her.Her tail now equal to her body and wagging.
