Cavalier

Like a Knight in Shining Armor.

The silver charcoal beast padded heavily into the region, leaving deep imprints in the gathering snow. Cavalier’s tail hung loosely in the wind, no longer held high to show his rank – he had relinquished that long ago in favor of traveling with his pack, his family. He, his siblings, and his father had all felt a calling, well, the rest more so than him, and they left. The valley would always hold a strong grasp on his mind, which was why he had returned, but he was the only one to bother with the trek back. None had accompanied him and though he didn’t mind, he knew he was back in a valley that had greatly changed in their absence. Cav was not expecting familiar faces.

Not even a familiar pace to return to, either. The canyon, his pack’s home for three generations, was claimed. By an equine. He screwed up his face in distaste. Though he had nothing against equines, he just didn’t like the fact that’s what Toklat Canyon was housing now and before that, felines. But he was biased. I mean, what else would you expect from him?

Cavalier’s strong pace slowed and he eventually stopped on the upper most part of these upside down riverbeds. Even when he had lived here, he had not often visited the Eskers, so he figured he would change things up a bit. It was already one big change not to rush back to the canyon and reclaim it, like he had considered many times on his journey back here, so where was the hurt in visiting a rarely frequented part of the valley? His striking icy blue pool swept around the immediate area. His nose told him two others were not to far away, but he wasn’t about to disturb them. Besides, this was his way of getting reacquainted with the valley – the first step. With a rough shake from head to tail of his gleaming coat, he dislodged all bits of ice and snow that had accumulated on his back during his travels. It was a vain effort though, the snow was coming down very hard from a gray sky, but that was no matter. Cav was just glad to be home.

RAMPAGE

RAMPAGE
DYING is easy
It's the LIVING that's hard

It had been a few weeks since Aurinka's wrongful death. Rampage's aunt had been murdered by none other than White Feathers, the scum of the earth. The thought of that cold-blooded killer made Rampage nauseous.

So did the thought of Sora, who attacked Tainted and impregnated her with Rampage and his two siblings. Sora would die soon, Rampage was sure...but not before White Feathers. And Risen. And Lyckos. They all needed to go. Apologies weren't enough anymore.

The young hybrid prowled through the snow, white icy flakes collecting on his black pelt. His gray eyes glanced over the terrain. That's when he saw Cavalier. He slowly stalked toward the wolf, picking up the pace, leaping, and landing in front of Cavalier. "Who are you?" His words were blunt. It was obvious he was in a bad mood.

Gender: Male
Blood: 70% Gray Wolf, 25% Coyote, 5% German Shepherd
Timeline: One summer
Born: Second Born
Eye pigment: Gray
Muscle: 170 pounds
Skyscrape: Three feet at the shoulder
Painted: Pure black, with not another mark on him.
Structure: He has a coyote's body, inherited from his coyote grandmother Tahti. But he is massive, larger than even the average wolf. He has an enormous amount of strength, though his bones aren't as strong as they should be.
Persona: He is a fierce warrior. When he gets in a fight, he won't leave until it's finished. He has never forgiven those who broke his family and forced his mother to run. It's unlikely that he'll ever forgive them. Yes, he wants revenge. On his father, who forcefully brought Rampage into the world; on the Shadow Haunters and Shadow Lurkers, who wish his mother dead; on Kalaber's entire bloodline for 'tainting' the Valley and killing so many of Rampage's family; ...and on himself, as he bears the blood of those he so greatly despises. He is a vicious wolf.
Written: Rampage's mother, Tainted, was attacked by one of her greatest enemies in early August. This event is what created Rampage, as well as his brother and sister. He was born on August 22, 2008 and had always lived a stressful life. He was born into a life of war. Shortly after his birth, Tainted was forced to flee, as numerous packs wanted her dead. That was more than enough to send Rampage on a quest for revenge. He won't rest until those who have wronged his family pay for what they have done. If he dies fighting, so be it. He'd die fighting in the name of his mother.
Mother: Tainted
Father: Sora
Pack: The Rebels (Manahcob Downs)
Lover: No mate
Prodigy: No children

Cavalier

The arctic brute's auds flickered in the direction of Rampage as he stalked closer. Cavalier furrowed his brow slightly, concentrating on the approach of this male. Instantly he was on guard, his stance squared and his head lowered defensively, a deep, throaty snarl brewing in his larynx. Cav was not one to be snuck up to, least of all messed with. Though he may not have rank anymore, that's not to say the skills that made him an alpha were gone as well. And then this culprit was in front of him.

Lovely, by the looks of things, a youngster had stumbled upon him, a a young hybrid. You could not go anywhere without seeing more and more hybrids, day in and day out. Cavalier's blue eyes narrowed dangerously and his flashed his fangs in warning. The silvery wolf almost rose to a commanding height, but caught himself quickly, settling with a position that screamed 'don't mess with me, child' and a stern glare. This hybrid's bad mood was very apparent, but Cavalier would have none of it. He looked almost disdainfully on at the young male as he demanded his name of him. The primed captain observed the male before him with heavy scrutiny. Did he want to share his name with him? Oh to hell with caution.

"Its Cavalier, boy, and if you had any sense you would fix that demeanor of yours."

He stressed the reference to the brute's youth just for spite. Sure, call him old fashioned or stuck in his ways, but all he asked for was the decency to have a shred of respect for a stranger, unless you knew otherwise. One could never know the story of someone they just happened upon, especially one who had just returned to the valley. Cavalier had no scents on him that would be familiar to any in this valley, save a few who he and his family had befriend or, more commonly, made enemies of. Little to either brute's knowledge, they shared a common enemy, or a common past enemy in Cav's case for he had not seen Risen of the Shadow Haunters in ages.

"And you are..."

His query was dry and very curt. No reason for Cavalier to be playing nice if this was the first impression he was given.

RAMPAGE

Rampage smirked and chuckled at Cav, his gray eyes twinkling mischievously. Cavalier reminded vaguely him of Sora. But everybody did. He couldn't forget his father. Stupid Sora. Rampage would go after him soon. But not today. He had other plans for today.

"I think I'll keep my demeanor how it is, thanks." He retorted curtly. 'He's probably with White Feathers...' The pup mused with a scoff. Nevertheless, he shook his head and bowed slightly. "No hard feelings, Cavalier. I'm just still pissed after some poor loser murdered Aurinka." He growled a bit, but not at anyone in particular. Well, maybe at White Feathers.

He calmed himself down a bit before answering Cavalier's question. "I am Rampage, son of Tainted and...and Sora. Curse him. I hope he dies."

The sound of running pads could be heard, two sets of them and the heavy panting of breath escaping their twin bodies. Framed... Framed, stop! came the soft shout of one wolf, her breath coming the heaviest. A flash of cream could be seen coming over one of the eskers, followed by that of a white female. They were both young, one an adolescent and the other a three year old at the very oldest. Seeing the wolves down below, a sound of distress escaped the white female as she tried her hardest to catch up to the small female that had been put into her care. Oh, how could Saydin do this to her? She knew that nobody listened to her. Wicked Lovely leapt after the other, when suddenly framed dodged sideways. wicked wasn't as lucky. Her momentum was so great down the esker, and the snow so slick that she just kept going as her feet planted. Up near the top of the esker stood the other, cream colored female, and laughter seemed to be dancing in her eyes as she slowly walked after the former, as Wicked came to an abrupt halt at the bottom no more then five feet from Cavalier and Rampage. I am not a babysitter. She whispered softly. No one listened to her. Not her sister, not her sisters friends, not her sisters children... No one. Tears formed in the grey wolfess's eyes. Would anyone ever listen?

I Told You I didn't do it, So Stop Looking at me That way.

Framed came down the hill at her own pace now, hardly even panting after her excursion. The creamy hybrid looked up at Rampage and Cavalier With barely hidden dislike. She was worse then her mother, for she hated to be near others, and generally she tried her hardest to stay away. But Saydin had told her to behave. well, she was behaving. Sort of. She had given Wicked Lovely the slip, and how easy it had been with the green eyed white wolfess. She was just so damn gullible. It was hard to believe that she was related by blood to this... Thing. Her lip curled in disdain towards the female. Get up. She hadn't found her voice yet. She knew that she should have by now, but.... she just hadn't. So she used other methods to communicate. She nipped Wicked rather harshly then turned her hate filled eyes to the other two, as though challenging them. I'm sorry... We didn't mean to disturb you. Came the soft whispers of Wicked. With such a name, you would think that she was a cold hearted ruthless bitch. Instead, she was sweet, tenderhearted. Framed groaned. And she was stuck with her.

Cavalier

Cavalier almost glared scornfully at Rampage and his snappy reply, but he didn’t worry himself with it as the youngster had dropped his head in a slight bow. Instead a short chuckle broke the silence between replies.

"No, Rampage, no hard feelings at all."

There, that was he had to do in the first place and the dark silvery male’s opinion of Rampage took a turn for the better. It helped that he also shared with Cavalier the reason for his harsh tone. Cav understood the thirst for revenge all too well and he would not hold it against the young hybrid. His family used to run solely on revenge, but Cavalier knew enough to know that it was no way to live, revenge tore you apart - regardless of who you are and what you’ve done. Cav decided to drop all pretenses, now clearly having no reason to be harsh with the younger male. He was about to reply, kindly at that, but was interrupted by the sudden appearance of two young females. He had heard them quite a ways off, but thought nothing of it until they had abruptly cleared the top of the esker and one had skidded to a stop not five feet from Cav and Rampage.

Cavalier was only mildly surprised, as he expected nothing less than interruptions when he was out and about in the open. He was still surprised with their behavior. The charcoal brute’s ears perked up, catching the words of Wicked Lovely. Cavalier listened to her, he was always listening. His gaze quickly jumped from Wicked Lovely to Framed and then back again, narrowed ever so slightly as he tried to make sense of all this. When he was met with a look from Framed that did nothing to hide her aversion to the two males, his lip quivered once more, a sparkling white tooth peaking out. For crying out loud, the valley had gone to the dogs. Well, no, not dogs, maybe ‘the self righteous youth’ were the more appropriate terms. Cavalier’s stare hardened and a loathsome glint appeared in his steely blue eyes, as he locked eyes with the silent, though clearly arrogant one. He was beginning to question what some of the inhabitants of the valley had become.

"Then don’t be. I wouldn’t want to be in charge of a spiteful brat, if I were you."

Cavalier’s reply to Wicked’s first statement was steady, but cold. Oh Cavalier, your temper’s running hot today, isn’t it? As far as he was concerned, Wicked had not disturbed him, not at all. But the angry one, on the other hand, well, Cav took an immediate dislike of her and her harsh treatment of the meeker female. He glanced over at Rampage, trying to gauge his reaction to these characters whose personalities seemed polar opposites.

RAMPAGE

Rampage smiled at Cavalier, as the older wolf seemed to understand the reason for his behavior. "The world needs more wolves like you, Sir." He said formally. And when he expected Cav to continue the conversation, who should show up but Framed, his first cousin once removed. "Good day, Framed. How are your parents doing?" He knew Kahvi wouldn't be doing very well. Kahvi's mother, Aurinka, had been murdered by White Feathers. "But anyway, Framed, this is my friend Cavalier. And Cavalier, this is my first cousin once removed, Framed, as well as her aunt, Wicked Lovely." Rampage was very close to his cousin Kahvi, and Framed may have seen him hanging out with her father.

Framed curled her lip at Cavalier, giving him a sneer in return. No, she wasn't the kindest wolf in the world.... Thats when Rampage spoke. Her eyes drifted to him and she gave a nod. She thought she had recognized him, but that didn't faze her. He was still just another wolf to her. Never had they really spoke. Well, not that it mattered since she couldn't talk anyways.

Wicked glanced to Cavalier and gave a polite nod. Thank you. She murmered to him, speaking of the words he had spoken to Framed. She could understand how frustrating it was to be unable to talk, but why was she taking it out on the world? Was it not her own fault that she cuoldn't speak? Sometimes Wicked though that she was doing it just for attention, which could be true. but was it really?
