Jess wandered freely through the yards, ignoring the frantic barking of tame dogs. Her head and tail were high. She was the boss and she knew it! A loud growl left her when an angry dog barked at her. "Quiet, pet puppy." She said, obviously annoyed with the large canine. She sat down under a tree in an attempt to cool off.
Quick, shifty eyes danced along the alleyway. A crispy, a wet crispy peice of chicken peeked out form the slender Border's meatcage. His pants were heavy and tired sounding. Yet hsi voids remained peacefull. A door in the alleyway, was open. Loud footsteps from a rather round man came bumbling out. "Crazy dog!" Yelled a slightly Italian acsented voice. Yup. Rhett has made another famous run through a resturant. But the chicken was his. Quickly he seemed to hide it, somewhere, who knew where. He'd save it for a time in need. His long, slender appendages lifted him into a quick, active jog down the sidewalks. Banner hund limply from his chassi. Tired he was.
Jess turned around when she heard a human's voice. Her tail began to wag, but stopped when she sensed the man's anger. "What's up with him?..." She said to herself. Long strides took her closer to Rhett. She stopped in front of him. "You okay? That man sounded mad." She said to the Border Collie in a pleasant voice.
Audits raised with suspicion. He was never, not ever was he approched just walking down the street by another canid. Yet alone a femmora. "I'm fine, as it were." He nodded simply, but politely to the ebon ess.
Jess lowered her head in respect. This one didn't look like he was going to challenge her "superiority." Her eyes lit up when he spoke. "I'm Jess, by the way." She took a seat on the ground. "Who're you?"
The longly built brute streached his neck, turning it side to side. I'm sure you could hear it crack. His orabs studied her. "Jess, ah. Call me Rhett" Nodded the brute, his black auds lifted alertly, swiveling or a moment. Soon enough resting along side his wildly splattered merle fascade.
Jess smiled. "Nice name" She replied. She looked around curiously. "Well, I'm new here and willing to explore, if you would like to join me." Her dark brown eyes showed her cheer as they studied Rhett carefully.
A short nod was given. Bashful, really. His banner gently wagged behind him. Long drapes moved in a little breeze. "I suppose.." Words he thought of saying were left unsaid. He might as well slit his own throat. That seemed to be what everyone around her wanted to do; kill him.
Jess smiled and wagged her tail, then rose to her feet. "Great!" She barked excitedly. "Let's go in one direction and see where we end up. Ready?" Without another thought, she was off. She was a carefree canine, but could defend herself very well if she needed to.
