Ballari

YOU CAN ONLY FEAR WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW

The wolfess entered the downtown area, keeping her lithe form to the shadows.
When she did hit the open, she was regarded warily and remembered by her jet-
black forelimb. Ballari was bored and looking for something to do and not to mention
the serious pang of hunger in her stomach left her in a foul mood.

She was not fond of killing boring little creatures like dogs for food, but if one
happened by, she wouldn't say no. The stench of raw meat caught her attention and
she trailed the enticing smell to a rickety old garbage can with some many holes it
looked like aluminum Swiss cheese. As she closed in on the can, she noticed with
frustration the meal's scent was seeping out through the bottom holes of the can.

No matter she mused as she reared up on her hind limbs and used her
forelimbs to tip the holey can over. The can made a resounding 'clang' as it hit the
pavement. Ballari froze and glanced around. When nothing came out to investigate,
she continued her scavenging. She was rewarded with a myriad of different and not
yet spoiled foods from the can, but she ignored most and went straight for the slab
of meat.

The back door into the alley in which Ballari was, opened and a large man in a dirty apron stepped out. He squinted into the shadowed pile of cans and grimaced when he saw the mess that was being made. Reaching back into the building he had exited, he brought out a broom and shook it warily at Ballari. The wolf was so small he did not realize her to a wolf, but just a mutt. "Git outta here!" The fat man brandished the broom and took a swipe at the wolf's face. He had left the door to the restaurant kitchen wide open and enticing scents spilled out of the doorway. You could get in if the man was chased away, but you could also attract more attention if you’re too loud.

The wolfess ceased all movement as the door swung open with a creak. When it
seemed no one was coming out, she greedily devoured the rest of the trashed meal.
Then the man finally came out waving a broom at her and she went into defense
mode. Ballari lowered herself to the ground, her lips quivering as she bared her
pearly incisors. She nearly yelped in surprise as the broom soared her way but she
ducked just enough so that the improvised weapon only met the top of her back.
Growling angrily, she hurdled over the can she had earlier knocked down and lunged
for the man. Unfortunately for her small size and the man’s great size, she was at a
slight disadvantage, but that didn’t stop her. She opened her jaws wide, her ivories
stained with her recent meal, and aimed to shut them around his neck.

The man 'hmmphed' in triumph as the blow landed on her back but shouted in surprise at what happened next. His arms flailed wildly and he beat the canine he just realized as a wolf with his fists and the top of the broom handle. Now not being the most physically fit man in the world made it a great deal difficult for him to yank Ballari off, but he did and it took a great feat of strength. What he didn't realize right away was that as he threw her off, Ballari had torn his neck to shreds. The man put his hand to his neck and tried to call out but he only managed to croak out "Help..".

A scrawny co-worker of the dying man hurried out and froze, his eye moving from Ballari to the torn and bloodied co-worker of his. The wounded fat man uttered another sound and the newer man slowly got to his side and tried to press his dishrag over the man's neck wound.

Ballari snarled as she dugs her fangs into the man’s throat. The beating on her back
he was giving her was just firing up her anger. Had the man not been able to throw
her off, she would have killed him quicker. With a yelp of pain and mixture of anger
and surprise, she rolled back onto her feet after being thrown like rag doll. Smirking
down at the fallen man, she admired her handy work, but her admiration did not last
long for another two-legged came out to aid the other. She could take care of this
scrawny human easily.

Leaping back up to her feet, she circled the pair warily, testing the reaction time.
When she was far to the side of both men, she lunged for the second man’s arm. If
she caught hold of it, she would yank and pull for all that she was worth.

The man looked up and instinctively put his arms forward to divert her from a possible attack on his neck. When Ballari leapt at him, he moved so that her jaws did not catch his arm but she did push him off balance so that he fell back. The small man tried quickly to crawl backwards before the wolf could get him.

Calling out for help, he attracted the attention a passer by-er who called animal control and it was only a matter of time before they came to put her down.

The minx followed the man as he fell back. She landed heavily, her forepaws dug
into his chest. She growled and glanced around as the man called for help. Seeing no
once come immediately to his help, she decided to finish him off. She snarled with
almost a mocking smirk and snapped her jaws expertly at his throat. She hopped
that she was rewarded with the warm blood from his life giving vein and the lasting
gasps and groans of death. Suddenly she heard voices and looked up to see two men
approaching her with nets and sticks with cords on the end. To hell with the rest of
them, she was done. Using her small size to her advantage, she bolted past the two-
leggeds and made a beeline for the wilderness.

*Humans*

The man's shuots for help turned into grugled shots that grew quieter and quieter as he fought for breath. Death came suddenly for the second man, while the first died just seconds later. The animal control officers approached Ballari warily as one tried get the loop around her neck. They did not succeed for Ballari quickly fled, to fast for the other officer to get a clear shot at her with his shot gun.
