Blackmist

Pale gray paws carried Blackmist cautiously over frost-covered grass, following the edge of a road that had brought her into town. It was dark out, being a few hours past dusk at this point, but already the wolfdog was seeing a growing amount of light as she neared and then entered the human's town. Atop of tall poles, lights beamed down to illuminate the roadways and the buildings along them, stealing the shadowy cover that Blackmist relied upon to conceal herself. The thunderbugs were more frequent here too, and no wonder! The roads that they roared across were in thick abundance in town, crisscrossing this way and that. But what really caught Black's eye were the structures themselves, and how they vaguely reminded her of her home back at the ruins. The straight edges, perfect corners, solid stone... these buildings were the handiwork of two-leggers. Had they also built the Ruins?

Blackmist was pondering these things as she braved deeper into human territory, blindly leading her friend as they searched for the fruit that Quilikahm told them to find.

Aizen

Aizen was following Blackmist when a scent caught his nose. Wait... Momo...He mumbled and he slowly began following the scent to an enclosed backyard.

Momo was sleeping in a dog house on the othersdie.

Blackmist

The scent soon came to Blackmist as well and her expression cautiously lit up. Could another of Aizen's sister truly be alive? She nodded to her friend and now began to follow him, head down towards the earth to pick up scents, while her ears and eyes remained keyed into her surroundings, alert for any dangerous in this new environment.

The trail eventually led them to a fenced in yard, where Momo's scent was the strongest. The wolfess paced the length of the fence for a way in, all the while peering through what holes she could find in the sturdy wall. "Aizen, there! Look!" Finally spotting the grizzled form of Momo, Blackmist's tail began to wag frantically. Leery of attracting too much attention, Black woofed softly, "Momo!"

Aizen

Aizen moved to look through the hole it definietly was her. You could see her twisted jaw and shorter leg when she got up. momo its Aizen!He said scratching at the fence now.

Momo had heard the movement on the other side of the fence and growled territorilly. She had been living with this human who was out right now for a while. Though this wasn't her actual home they lived somewhere else he was just visiting a friend. She heard her name and Aizens and her heart broke but she growled pretending not to understand them.

Blackmist

The growl threw Blackmist off and she paused, holding her tail still and glancing back at Aizen. "It's been a while." She suggested in a whisper, "Maybe she's just confused?" The wolfdog peered through the hole again, just to confirm they they weren't confused and that this really was Momo. Sure enough, there was that malformed jaw, and that odd pose caused by a shortened hind limb. There was no doubt that this was Aizen's long lost sister.

"Momo, it's me - Blackmist. Remember?" She woofed again, still keeping her voice quiet and soft. "We're going to help out of here." So saying, she began to scan the fence line, hoping to find some sort of weak point in it that they could exploit.

Aizen

Aizen kept working at digging at the fence line. Ignoring his sisters growling.

Momo backed away.You'll just get yourselves killedShe said now returning to the dog house.

Blackmist

Realizing what Aizen was doing, Blackmist was at his side a moment later and digging along side him. But she was troubled by Momo's warning and her retreat into the doghouse. "What do you mean? We're here to rescue you, Momo. The Haunters have reunited - Senka, Tersek, the whole group! We even found Ursa and Cavan." Her tail wagged again, trying in vain to bring some hope to Momo.

While the two worked at the hole, which was painfully slow-going thanks to the soil being frozen solid, there was a noise from within the house. If they listened close, the three would hear footsteps, and they were moving towards the door...

Momo

Momo heard the footsteps.you need to goShe said.

Aizen ignored his sister as he kept digging desperate to get her out. ooc: Im thinking they don't get her this time, maybe peak ethans interest at least in Aizen since he missing one leg lol

Blackmist & Ethan

"We can't leave without you, Momo." Blackmist returned defiantly, even as the rock-solid soil continued to defy their desperate attempts at digging. Between the two of them, they'd barely scratched a few inches of soil away from the fence, and hadn't yet reached the foot-deep cement barrier that would have made their job all that much more difficult. "Help us dig, we'll get you home!"

The creak of a door stalled her actions though, and she looked up with wide eyes. Through the holes in the fence, she could see the backdoor opening, and a human striding out. Her whole body tensed as the tall fellow turned his rugged head and made eye contact with her. There was a certain coldness in them, a predatory-like calculation that sent chills down her spine. She took a faltering step back and gave a low, grumbling bark. Her hackles began to rise and she glanced at Aizen with worry; she didn't want to leave Momo behind, but she had no experience dealing with humans.

Aizen

Momo just remained in the dog house eyeing Ethan as he came out warily. Her ears back. I can'tShe murmered

Aizen heard the door opened and looked up standing fully up now on his three legs. HE snarled at the man and threw his body into the fence as if he could break it. This man was what cause his sister to be fearful?

Blackmist & Ethan

A snarl began to roll through her throat, but fear kept her eyes wide and her heart racing. She'd never dealt directly with a human like this before, other than the 'wild' ones that had briefly lived with the Haunters. Blackmist barked again, a deeper, threatening note that warned Ethan to keep his distance. Through the holes, she could just barely see Momo in the doghouse, her ears back, and fear highlighting her posture.

The man showed absolutely no trepidation. Neither to Blackmist's growling bark, nor to Aizen's aggressive slam against the fence. He studied the two, wordlessly, before turning and going back inside. And for a moment, Blackmist thought they'd won. "He didn't look afraid, but I think we scared him off? Momo, is this the human that captured you? What... what has he done to you?"

Moments later, another door was creaking open, and the tall man was circling around the side of the house, towards the fence where the two were desperately trying to free their packmate. In one hand, Ethan had a thick rope. In the other, some sort of dark, shiny looking bar. Blackmist snarled again but put her ears back, "I'm warning you, human scum! Back off, or we'll tear your throat out!"

Aizen

Aizen needed to get to his other sister desperately. He kept growling at the human and tried to dig under it. He listened to blackmist but did not respond. He turned to face the human when he noticed him. His teeth bared at him. His hackles raised.

Momo didn't answer her.I told you to leaveShe growled.

Blackmist & Ethan

The growl from Momo broke Blackmist's heart. Something bad had happened to her packmate for her to be acting this way, and she blamed it on the cold-eyed human. She stared him down as he approached closer, and gave her friend another warning, "Aizen... Aiz, watch out!" Fearing that the human was too close, Blackmist lunged forward with a snarl and lunged at Ethan, aiming a quick snap at his arm before springing back. But she was not prepared for just how swift this two-legger was. Nor did she know that he'd been dealing with feral and aggressive canines for far longer than she had been alive.

There was a flash of movement and a crack of sound as he swung the bar against her snout and forehead, dropping Blackmist to the ground like a sack of potatoes. For a moment she was stunned and confused by what had just happened, but her sharp senses and instinct kicked in, and had her scrambling back just as Ethan was raising his arm for a second strike. He advanced on her and Aizen, his eyes darting between the two, waiting to see whether they'd try an attack, or turn and flee.

Aizen

Aizen snarled at the man especially when he hit Black.Blackmist go run! She was more likely to get away she could go get help. The three legged wolf moved in front of her snarling at the man and trying to find a weakness in him. His ears back. He leaped for his leg then.

Blackmist & Ethan

Blackmist was squinting one eye as pain flared across her head, throbbing from where Ethan had landed that heavy blow. "Aizen, get back!" She blinked and shook her head, but the pain remained and she was forced to scramble further back and out of Ethan's reach. Thanks to Aizen rushing forward, he blocked any attack that the man could have made against Mist, but in doing so he was now in the line of fire. "We have to get out of here, we need help to get Momo out."

With viper-like reflexes, the man pivoted and drew his leg out of Aizen's immediate reach, and in the same fluid movement, brought the heavy bar arching down for the hybrid's muzzle and skull with horrible force...

Aizen

Aizen snarled as he moved just barely missing get hurt.you go, ill be right behind youHe didn't trust the man to not come after them so he intended on making sure Black got away first. He stood inbetween the man and blackmist but didn't move back or forward.

Blackmist & Ethan

Blackmist didn't like leaving anyone behind, and she was particularly worried about Aizen's handicap. But she knew how fiercely protective the brute was, and knew he wasn't going to let up until she was safe. Biting back her anxiety, Blackmist darted down the road, crossing the street and traveling half a block before stopping to look back on her friend. Seeing him bristled and snarling in front of that towering two-legger almost compelled her to run back to his side. But she honored his wishes by pressing onward, and disappearing around the next block.

Ethan, meanwhile, continued to stare down this three-legged hybrid before him, not knowing that he was the brother to the dog inside the fence. There was still no aggression on the man's face, no shouting, and no stink of fear exuding from him. He was calm, with frighteningly intense eyes that never once slipped from Aizen. With the bar clenched neatly in one hand, and the chain in the other, he waited on the mutt's move...

Aizen

Aizen would not turn his back on the two legger he couldn't . So he was slowly edging backwards. Though not use to going backwards on his three legs it was slow going. He needed to free his sister and he dared to chance of looking away from the human to the fence whining at momo wanting her out and free.

Momo heard her brother and whined back but did not leave the dog house.

Blackmist & Ethan

Like a feral cat stalking a hapless bird, Ethan's eyes never seemed to blink as they studied the tri-legged dog slowly hobbling back from him. He didn't move initially, didn't say a word or make a noise, he only watched with tense muscles and an impossible to read expression. And when Aizen made the error of breaking eye contact and glancing to the fence, the man struck. His long legs carried him forward with frightening speed while his weapon-baring arm struck out at the same time, sweeping the heavy bare towards Aizen's side rather than his head, in an effort to bowl him over onto the ground...

Aizen

Aizen's dial was swinging back just as he got hit and he let out a loud yelp as he fell on his side and struggled to get back up.

Blackmist & Ethan

Ethan didn't stop after swinging the bar. The hand moved again, this time bringing the bar down in a swift, controlled manner as he tried to press it down against Aizen's head and muzzle to keep him pinned to the ground, and keep those dangerous fangs at bay. The other hand was swooping in with the rope, working quickly to try and secure it around Aizen's muzzle...

Aizen

Aizen snarled but soon had the rope over his muzzle. His ears were back.

Blackmist & Ethan

Just as Ethan was looping the rope about Aizen's muzzle, Blackmist came charging down the street with hackles up and ears pressed defiantly forward. Snarling like a mad thing, the hybrid launched herself at the man who was currently crouched on the ground, forcing him to briefly drop the rope so that he could pull the bar up in time to save himself from Black's teeth...

Aizen

Aizen muzzle had been succesfully tied shut and he sat up trying to paw it off to no avail

Blackmist & Ethan

Teeth clattered sharply against metal, with Blackmist unwittingly chomping down on the bar that Ethan had shoved frantically into her face. In the same movement, he pushed forward, forcing the hybrid back before she could rightly swing her head away from the weapon lodged between her teeth. He stood with rapid movement, bringing a foot forward as he did so to collide with Black's side, sending her reeling to the ground.

While Blackmist was struggling to stand back up from the dazing blow, Ethan stooped over to try and grab Aizen by the scruff of the neck, now that his muzzle was securely tied shut...

Aizen

Aizen was crouched over trying to use his one front paw to get the rope off to no avail and ended up getting grabbed. He snarled as he tried to get away struggling.

Blackmist & Ethan

Ethan seemed to consider Blackmist, but he'd already gotten Aizen secured with the rope, and didn't have the hands to spare to try and secure her as well. With the wolfdog stunned and struggling to get back up, the man took the opportunity to carry Aizen back in through the house, and out the back door into the fenced in yard. There the hybrid was tossed to the ground, the rope being pulled away from his muzzle.

On the other side of the fence, Blackmist was just getting back to her paws, though the world was swimming around her as her balance was slow to come back, and her eyes were still seeing stars. "Aizen? Aizen!" Her confused bark turned into a panicked howl when she realized both the man and her friend were now gone.

Aizen

Aizen snarled trying to struggle free to no avail. When he was tossed to the ground and the rope pulled from his muzzle he bared his teeth at Ethan and snarled but he didn't lung he had to think.

Momo lifted her head from laying where she was.I told you to leave!She whined.

Blackmist & Ethan

Knowing there was no means of escape for Aizen or Momo, Ethan returned to the house. Outside, Blackmist had rushed to the fence, anxiously peering through the holes to see if she could spot her friends. "Aizen! Oh no, Aizen... I'm sorry." A whimper escaped her as she paced along the fence, desperately trying to find a hole or some weakness she could exploit to free her packmates. But alas, Ethan was a wise man, and he'd made sure his friend's backyard was secure.

The sound of the door opening sent a bolt of dread down Blackmist's spine. The man was coming back outside, surely going after her now. "Aizen, Momo.. I'm going to get help, okay? I'll be back." With a final look back at the fence, the hybrid bolted away...

Aizen

He glares after the man. What didh e want with wolves. Obviously he had no intention of killing him. Just go!he said. He moved to momo and examined her carefully and then laid down.WE found Ursa...Barely alive howeverHe whined a little.

Momo sighed at him and groomed him the best she could with her twisted jaw.Its... alright. UrsaShe murmered.
