Rosie Jo Reynolds
Black boots thud on the ground as the form ran in the night. Thirteen year old Rosie Jo Reynolds, or as her mother used to call her Rosie Jo. Rosie ran hearing the sirens behind her she kept running. She ended up jumping a fence and sitting in the corner behind a bush. She watched as police cars passed. What have you gotten yourself into this time, Rosie Jo! I thought I raised you better then that! Her mothers voice echoed in her head. Rosie had done it again, stole something she needed. Well, she was thirteen she knew it was stealing. It wasnt her fault her mother died and it wasnt her fault her father left them! Rosie burst out in quiet tears, hoping no one would hear her.
Once done with crying she got up and jumped over the fence. Walking along the sidewalk now. Her bag slung over her shoulder and a tank top on that was white. She also had on tight skinny jeans and black combat boots. She kept walking. She never took anything out of her bag when walking only when she was at a gas station or a store. It was dark probably midnight. She pulled her phone out and looked at the time. 12:30AM It read. She looked around. She might be able to find a house that would be nice enough to let her stay the night. But she couldnt find herself to go up to any of the houses. She just kept walking...
Taru
A girl wandered the streets of downtown, her footsteps echoing off the pavement. She heard police sirens in the distance but took no mind of it. Sure it may seem suspicious for a 15 year old girl to be wandering the streets around midnight but she didn’t care. She could protect herself pretty easily. She was wearing a long tan coat, almost military like, with a light pink scarf around her neck. It was cold out at midnight so she always wore her special coat. Her friend, Ivan, gave it to her long ago, along with the scarf. She always wore it when it was coat, sometimes even in the summer. Taru had her hand in her pockets of the coat, her grayish-green-blue eyes scanning the street around her. She looked up, watching the stars twinkle in the night.
Not noticing where she was going, she bumped into something and stumbled, almost falling but she recovered quickly. She looked at whatever she bumped into and saw a girl. About 13. Wait, if she was 13, why was she so tall. Though Taru was a short girl, being only 4’ 11”. Not knowing who the girl was, she let her lyrics flow off her tongue. ”I’m sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was going. Are you ok?” Though her voice was calm, her right hand went into her coat, grabbing something long and round. Her metal pipe. Couldn’t be too cautious right?
Rosie Jo Reynolds
Rosie stumbled and got back up looking at the girl. ''Yes, yes im fine. Its ok.'' She felt awkward now. Looking at the girl with her bright green eyes she turned around when she herd the sirens again. She looked at the girl. ''No time to explain why their coming back, I have to hide. Im Rosie, thats all you need to know. Either come with me or stay but I have to hide.'' She said and ran towards a bush hiding behind it. She herd the police stop where the girl was. Rosie held her breath as she could see through the bush. ''Excuse me ma'am, we'er looking for a wanted 13 year old girl, she looks a little like this....'' He held up a picture of Rosie. Rosie felt her heart stop, she so wished that girl wouldnt give her away.
Taru
Taru watched as the girl got up, telling her that she was ok. Thank god, good. The 15 year old girl looked back into the girl bright green luminaries with her own grayish-green-blue optics. But the girl quickly looked towards the sirens as they sounded near them again. The girl turned back to Taru, giving a quick explanation before bolting behind a bush. Before she could follow her, the cops were coming towards her. Taru’s grip tightened on her pipe as she walked up to her. They held up a picture of the girl from a second ago, then asked if she had seen her. Why was this girl wanted by the police? Breathing in and out, her lyrics flowed off her tongue. ”No. Sorry. I have not seen her. Though you should try the alleys. If I was wanted, I’d be hiding there.”
Rosie
Rosie watched and let out a breath of relief when the police nodded and got back in the car and left. Rosie stood up and ran over to the girl. ''Thank you so much! If you dont wanna call me Rosie you can just call me Rose. Whats your name?'' She asked. She looked at the girl and smiled. ''We should probably go somewhere with light. But no where with posters of me. I'll explain about it later. Its a long story really.'' She said. She looked at the girl waiting her answer while slightly shivering. She pulled out a hoody and put it on. Getting warmer she smiled.
Taru
Taru watched with her grayish green-blue luminaries as the police got in their car and drove away, of course thanking her first. Raising a hand, she waved them goodbye and they responded by honking at her then driving off towards the alleys, where she directed them. That was when the girl from before ran out from the bushes and stopped near her. Her lyrics flowed into the air. She thanks her full heartedly and then introduced herself as Rosie. Then she asked for her name. The girl smiled and Taru smiled back before answering. ”I’m Taru. Nice to meet you Rosie. That’s a very pretty name.” Then the girl suggested they go somewhere else, though not where they have posters of her. Is she wanted? Before she could ask, Rosie said she would explain later and Taru shrugged. ”I’ll gladly come with you. Lead the way.” She walked up next to her and looked at her, waiting for her to lead the way to wherever she wanted to go.
Rosie
Rosie smiled. ''Thanks. Taru thats a lovely name.'' She smiled and led the way walking beside her. In silence. She soon came upon a gas station and she went in. She smiled at the cashier and went to the back. Opening one of the fridges she got a 4 monster energy drinks out. Opening her bag she stuck them in and walked up the aisle and stuck some gum, candy, and chips in her bag. She waslked up it and waved to the cashier as she left. No alarm went off. Nothing. She just walked out. She looked at Taru. ''So, if you really wanna know why im wanted then come on.'' She walked to the edge and sat on the cirb. ''When I was little, my mom and father were always with me. Then one day my father up and left, leaving me and my mother with very little money. I became desoerate and,'' She stopped looking at the ground. ''I started stealing things, one day I was out stealing and when I got home my mom was.....she was......on the ground, bleeding, her last words to me were, 'Babygirl, dont be like your brother. I wasnt you to be a goodgorl, Ya hear? I love you babygirl.' Then she died. I told myself I would get revenge for her but I couldnt find the guys that did it. So, Ive been stealing since then, everytime I run or steal I hear her voice in my head. Like shes haunting me or something. I just wish I had been there 10 minutes earlier on that day, and maybe just maybe I couldve saved her.'' She looked back at Taru tears welling up. She pushed them back and looked at her as she took out a monster and offered it to her. Then offering a badg of candy a pack of gum and a bag of chips.
Taru
Taru smiled when she commented her name. ”Thank you Rosie.” As they walked, she felt a bit awkward with the silence until they came to a gas station. She stopped and watched at Rosie went in. What was she getting. It wasn’t long before she came back out. The girl followed her to the edge and sat down next to her on the curb. Then Rosie started speaking, her lyrics starting strong and she explained her past to her, but they soon started to break down and she could hear how hard it was for her to tell it. Why was she even telling her this? She didn’t have to. She herself didn’t tell anyone about her past. Yet this girl was an open book. When she got to the part about her mom dying, Taru could see the sadness in her eyes as pools of water collected in them. But she fought it back and just handed her a monster, a pack of gum, a bag of candy, and a bag of chips. Where did she get this? She didn’t pay for it in the gas station. Whatever. She was hungry and thirsty anyway. Opening the monster, she took a sip and smiled. She looked into the road and her lyrics broke the air, her gaze not moving from the road. ”That’s horrible. I feel so bad for you Rosie. I’m sorry for your lost. If you want. I’ll help you find the bastards who killed her. And kill them for you, with my own hands and of course my pipe.” She glanced at her out of the corner of her eye and smiled. Yes. She would help.
Rosie
Rosie smiled and looked at Taru. ''Thanks Taru, we could both help. Ive got a few knives but instead of killing them. I want to scare them, then kill.'' She said taking out her own Monster she opened it and started sipping at it. She smiled a little at the pain she would be able to cause the bastards for killing her mother. Her moms voice rang in her head again and she looked at the passing by car. It was slow and the man in it rolled down his window. ''Would you girls like a ride?'' he yelled through the window. Rosie hesitated. ''No thanks sir!! We'er just wondering around!!'' And he drove off. Rosie looked at Taru. Gulping. ''That was one of the guys.''
Taru
Taru smiled at Rosie’s statement and watched as she opened her monster and sipped at it. She glanced towards the car that was creeping up the road before it came to stop in front of them. The man rolled down his window, asking them for a ride. Taru reached into her coat, clutching at the pipe in the inside pocket. This guy was creepy. Instead of speaking up, Rosie did, telling the man they didn’t. He took that answer and drove off. Letting go of her pipe, she pulled her hand out of her coat and looked towards her as her lyrics broke the air. The statement she said had the girl clenching her fists. The guy was one of the people. ”If it was one of them, why didn’t we say yes. Trick them?” She looked at her, waiting for an answer.
Rosie
Rosie shrugged. ''We could always go after him? He's not that far, see, he just stopped down the road. If we can trick him we can get him down, then its 5 more to go.'' She smiled evilly getting up. She looked at Taru and nodded. ''You coming?'' She turns and starts walking towards the truck where the guy is looking at his tires. She kept walking til she got to the guy. ''Hey, you asked if we wanted a ride? Well, we want one now.''
