Leila Anderson

Leila listened as he said that he already volunteered there and that she could let him know when she was ready to get started. She nodded and then he started towards the pound and she followed him. The pound back in her hometown was small, only maybe ten cages but this one was much bigger. Once they reached it, she went inside with Daniel and began to glance around at the dogs in the cages while she waited for Daniel to speak, she would help with whatever he needed to do.

As he got there he said hi to the girl at the front desk. He looked at Leila. ''Leila, come here. We'er going to move the dogs outside in so they wont freeze.'' he said. He got the leash ropes and went outside. He started to get the dogs inside and into some cages. Some were alone and some had other dogs in it.He smiled as they got done he handed her a bowl. ''Feeding time'' he said. He started to fill the dogs bowls up with food then water. After he looked at Leila and smiled

Leila followed Daniel outside as he began to get the dogs and bring them inside. She helped to lead each dog inside, taking time to pet each one and see which cage they belonged in. Then once they were all inside she was handed a bowl and he said it was feeding time. She helped to scoop the food out then once that was finished she spoke. There are so many dogs here. I just want to take them all home with me. She smiled fondly at the dogs. She truly was an animal lover and it showed.

He smiled. ''Well if you had a few thousand dollars maybe you could.'' he said. He looked around and went over to one of the dogs. ''This is Tori. Shes been here over nine weeks now and ive been taking care of here. Shes a border collie. Very loving and protective.'' he said opening the cage and letting her out. Tori would stick by Daniel and anyone she knew no matter what. She was very loyal and loving

Leila nodded as Daniel spoke. She longed to be able to play with each of the dogs and to give them the attention that they all deserved. Then she was led to a cage with a dog in it. Once she peered into the cage she immediately recognized the dog as a Border Collie. Her jaw almost dropped. Dogs like this would be snatched up in no time at home by someone wanting to train them to herd and such. And this beautiful girl had been here nine weeks? Border Collies happened to be her absolute favorite breed, and as Daniel knew, she already owned two of them. She is gorgeous. Leila knelt down to the dog as she was let one of the cage and called the Collie over to her.

Tori wagged her tail and went over to the girl. She sniffed her hand then licked it. Daniel smiled. ''You could always take her home with you. Ive already trained her to herd and all that.'' he said. He smiled ''Or you could foster her til we find someone who wants her if you want to?'' he said. He smiled and kneeled down by her. Petting Tori along her back.

Leila pet the Border Collie as she smiled, she knew before Daniel even spoke that she was going to end up with another dog to take home with her. If it had been a dog other than a Border Collie or one who wasn't so sweet maybe she could have talked herself out of it but she couldn't turn and walk away to leave this girl stuck in a cage alone. Hopefully Kayla and Bethany won't mind... Looks like I am going to have a new member to the family. Do y'all do home checks or anything? Or just paperwork? She knew some places required home checks while others didn't. She took out her phone and snapped a picture of the Border Collie and sent it to her sisters in a text. The text stated 'Is it ok if I bring her home?' Of course she got a reply that said 'You know mom and dad wouldn't approve, but it's fine with us.' Leila smiled. Looks like I got the ok from my sisters. She patted the Border Collie.

He smiled. ''The dogs that get adopted that are in my care usually. I just go a see them every month or so and when they first go home I go check and see. We do both really'' he said. He looked at Tori. ''Looks like you get to go home with someone finally'' he said. He petted her and held her close. She was only two. Daniel looked at Leila. Ill be checking later today and see how shes doing. Since its still early. Ok?'' he asked.

Leila continued to pet the dog, glad to be able to take the dog home with her. She hadn't come here to take any dogs home with her, but she couldn't turn away from Tori. She hoped that her newest Border Collie would get along well with her other two Border Collies as well as with her siblings' dogs. She knew all of their dogs usually got along well with others. You can come out and check on her any time. I'll give you my number so you can just call and come out whenever. She scribbled down her number on a piece of paper and handed it to him while filling out the required paper work.

He nodded and took the paper. He stuck it in his pocket and looked at her as she filled the paper work. He petted Tori as she did. The border collie sat and waited by Daniel. Daniel smiled and gave Tori a treat who gladly took the treat. Daniel looked back at Leila and smiled

Leila quickly filled out all of the necessary papers and then handed the clip board to Daniel. All done. She smiled as she looked back down to Tori. Looks like you're coming home with me, pretty girl. She waited to see the dog's reaction. She hoped that she could bond with this dog as well as she had her other two Border Collies, but she had never really adopted an adult dog and had always raised her dogs from puppies.

Tori let out a high pitched bark and wagging her tail. Daniel smiled and bent down. ''Be a good girl Tori. Dont get in trouble.'' he said and got up. He smiled. Looking at Leila. ''Ill call you tomorrow when im headed over ok?'' he said.

Leila smiled as the dog seemed rather happy at this. Then she watched as Daniel bent down and spoke to the dog. She just smiled quietly. Then he stood back up and spoke to her. She nodded. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. I better go ahead and get this girl settled in, then. She hated to leave the first friend that she had made thus far, but she wanted to give Tori time to settle in before dinner and such.

He nodded. ''Yep. Ill see you later. Have to get back to my friends and then go look around and see if theirs any strays so I can bring them in and get them checked.'' he said. He opened the door for her and followed out Tori following Leila.

Leila nodded as he said he would see her later and then he opened the door for her and Tori. She held onto the leash as the two of them walked out of the building and towards Clover Fields. She turned and waved to Daniel as she left.
