Jonah

Two very large, very baby blue eyes stared out hopelessly between the wire diamonds on the cage wall in front of them. They are unblinking, hopeless, lost. These are the eyes of a 12 month old Husky/wolf hybrid, tossed in the dreadful place the previous night.

It had been cold, and the poor pup had been trying to stay out of the cold by huddling in an alley downtown. He had not a clue as to where his mother or owners were, if he even had owners. All he knew was that someone had suddenly roped him with some kind of strange wire and had tossed him in a small cage in the back of a big truck and hauled him off to where he was now. He had oversized ears for any pup that splayed out like veiny banners atop his soft grey and white skull. The rest of his body along his spine ant the topmost line of his tail was also the same gentle grey, the remainder was an even softer surprisingly clean white. Four white half rings surround his auds, accentuating the blue against the alabaster tone.

IT is here the young brute waits for his savior. But who wants a hybrid wolf pup anyway?

Shaine Delmar

It had only been a few days since Shaine had last set foot here in the local dog pound. Though, upon her last visit she had found some great dogs to once again begin her sled dog team. Most of her team had been left in Alaska when she had moved here, since her family needed them to get around up there. She had only brought her two favorite dogs with her, two husky mutts. Now she had two more husky mixes and a full blooded Siberian Husky. Only a few more were needed to get her team up and moving. So, she had been checking this place every few days to make sure there were no more suitable dogs for her to adopt.

Today she walked in the door and was once again greeted by the staff. Of course, they knew why she was here and immediately they told her about the pup they had found the night before. Well, Shaine hadn’t particularly come looking for a puppy since she was looking for dogs to start now, but she could always use another dog to train up for when she retired her older dogs. So, she was excited to see the puppy. The worker led her to the cage where she spotted the adorable pup. He definitely was a husky mix, though they told her they didn’t know for sure what he was mixed with. That didn’t matter, though. She knelt down by the cage and spoke. C’mere Jonah, here big boy. Her tones were happy and friendly, so the pup wouldn’t think her a threat. Jonah had been the name that the workers had given him, and she liked the name… She would stick with it. Her gloves were taken off as she held one hand out to the cage, waiting for the puppy to approach.

Totem

Totem husky pelt shone in the early morning light. How she had ended up here, and how humans would treat her hybrid blood remained a mysteries, the events were all such a blur. The husky hybrid a few cages down from her shared the same kinship: both shared husky blood tainted by wolves. Anxious eyes watched the humans a few cages down, one amber and one blue. Of course, they always picked the small innocent-looking pups, while the fully grown canines sat in this hellhole until they died. She arched her great orange and white pelt stretching after a long, uncomfortable night of cramped cages. Once again ignoring the stingy offering of food in her bowl and resuming watching the humans flaunt with the pup. In boredom an almost howl like yawn sounded from her muzzle revealing her only visible sign of wolf blood; her canines.
