Remus
Remus crashed into the wall of the pound and fell flat on his back. His eyes were shut tight, and, when the other bird opened them, they revealed a dizzying world of moving objects. He tried to shut them again, but the bird held them tight, and wouldn't let go. Soon the world settled and he saw lots of dogs. He resisted the urge to leap up in fright. Instead he just lay there, breathing still, or they might think he was a scrap of food.
Gunther
The large black sable dog was snoozing outside today. It was cold but it felt nice and refreshing. It didn't bother him at all, really. Nothing seemed to bother him as he was in his own little world now. He was actually a police dog-- or perhaps once was. His handler, upon discovering that there was no place for him in the Atroe K-9 unit, had instead decided to drop him off at the pound. That was just a day ago, and no one seemed to want him. That's what he was thinking about...
*clunk*
His dark eyes flashed. His tail flicked behind him.
*pat*
A small bird had fallen just before his face. Large ears turned forward in total alert, he stared at the small feathered being and lifted himself up to all fours. Snarling lightly at any other dogs who may be out in the enclosure with him, he bent down and stuck his nose into the birds chest. Then he began to push it around, rolling it to see if it was in fact alive. If it was, it would surely protest, would it not?
Remus
Remus groaned and blinked hard. The other bird was still crouching over him. Suddenly it disappeared, only to be replaced by a huge black dog. The little sparrow gave a half-hearted squawk as the beast rolled him over and over in a dizzying world of grey and black and brown and...
Remus shook his head hard and struggled, flapping his wings in the dogs face. "What do ya think yur doin?" He cheeped, and, opening his beak wide, he clamped down onto the dog's snout. And hung on tight.
Gunther
The black dog had continued to push the little bird around with his nose when suddenly it sprang back to life. He flicked his ears when it emitted a squawk in response. It couldn't fool him. Soon it was up and flapping it's wings in his face but he stood firm. He gave his head a tilt, about to reply to the small creature's question when it clamped its beak down on his snout. Feeling the sharp pin prick of pain he tossed his head back with a snarl. Immediately he got his fore legs and began to try to forcefully brush the bird off. "Let go of my nose!" the large shepherd barked as he rubbed his face and muzzle. Pesky little creature!
Remus
Remus held on with all his might. Whenever the dog tried to brush him off, he would just clamp his beak down harder. He sighed, then, with more of his extra might, he bit down the hardest and let go, fluttering away to perch on the top of the wall.
Gunther
The large black dog opened his mouth with a snarl when the bird bit down harder before finally flying away. He rubbed at his sensitive nose some more with his fore legs before standing up and letting out a few loud barks of rage at the little bird. "Why don't you put those little flappers to good use and flap back on down here? I have birdseed," the big canine growled under his breath just loud enough for Remus to hear. He'd like to show that feathery pest a thing or two. He also figured the creature would taste pretty good, or at least better than the kibble the humans liked to serve him here. He waved his tail briskly behind him in an agitated manner. A bird getting the best of him? Hah! "Or are you part chicken?" he sneered, flashing his fangs.
Remus
Remus grinned and laughed out loud. "The reason you so angry, mate, is yur stuck down dere! You act all big and tough, but I can see right fru you!" He nodded, totally ignoring the tone of the dog's voice. "Mm. Actually I am part chicken. My great grandad was one. Actually he was a bantam. Else he'd be a bit big. Bantam cockeral, mind you. Never heard of a male chicken." He grinned again. "Cheerio! I bet we'll meet again!" With a triumphant squawk, Remus fluttered off the wall and down to the ground below. Though what he saw made his heart stop. Cats.
Gunther
Gunther snorted. "That would explain why you fly away instead of taking it like a real avian." he said in response to Remus's comment about being part chicken. He then shook his head as he watched the bird fly away. Must have been hanging around town too long-- it's made him docile... he thought to himself with a chuckle. He watched as the bird flew off before he plopped back down on his stomach next to the wall, watching the normal going-ons with little interest.
