Shaine Delmar

Shaine had been here at this small town for a short time now, only long enough to really find herself a place to stay where she could begin doing what she loved the most once again. She was wanting to get back into racing her dogs. She had always been into sledding since she was a child, since that was the way of life back home in Alaska. And she had always loved it. So, since she had been forced to leave most of her dogs behind in the move, she was in the market for some new ones. Since she knew of no reputable breeders in the area her first stop was the dog pounds, she could get lucky, right? She entered the building and began to look down the rows of cages…

Frost Rose

One dog a hybrid named Frost Rose, stood in her kennel. She barked when the girl came in. Her tail started wagging like no tomorrow. She was rearing up on her hind legs and putting her front paws on the cage door. She did like people but her reaction to the catching was out of defense. She wagged her tail. She looked like a wolf but she was more of a husky sled dog. Her tail was raised above her back like a husky's would. Her eyes were piercing ice blue like most husky's were. She barked once again trying to get the girl to understand, she was trying to say "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!" but she doubted the girl understood her. She stood there wagging her tail. Waiting for the girl to walk by so she could get her attention.

Aura

The Siberian husky hadn't been here for long, in fact her previous owners had dropped her off only a day or two ago. Now she was sitting in a little cage with uncomfortable metal bars and a small bowl of food and water. One old toy sat near her. The thing looked like it had been chewed on by fifty other dogs before getting to her... She may be just a dog, but even dogs had standards. She was going to see an untimely death if she didn't get let out of here, and soon. Cause of death? Boredom.

Shaking her head with a snort, the husky lifted her amber eyes when she heard the familiar sound of the door opening. She didn't recall many humans coming in and now was her chance. Just like Frost Rose and so many others, she was looking for a one way ticket out of here. Standing on all fours now, Aura turned towards the new girl and began howling, although it was more of a happy 'look at me, here I am' yowl. She wanted to be noticed! She didn't want to be stuck in this little cage any longer. She longed to be out and running free.

Shaine

Brooke was sitting in a cage near the end of the aisles. She had been here for so long and she had began to give up hope that anyone would ever take her home with them. She really was a good dog, she listened well her only downfall was her high energy level. This made her a little hyper and excitable and it seemed that turned many people away from her. That didn't stop her from getting excited and trying her best to get noticed when anyone came in. So, when this new woman came in she stood up and pranced over to the cage door, howling the trade mark husky howl and then watching to see if the woman would approach her.

Shaine looked around the pound, trying to figure out where to start. It seemed that there were so many dogs here and as much as she would love to take them all home, she knew that wasn’t possible. She was only here for potential sled dogs. So, she began to walk around the aisles, stopping to look at a few dogs who seemed like they might serve her purpose. Then she took a moment to look and their information sheet before moving away to the next kennel. There was a few that caught her eye, but she wanted to look at them all before she chose just a few to take home with her. She knew this would be a long process since she had to assure that each dog she picked would get along well with Kaskae and Saghani. Those were the only two from her previous team she had brought here and they were her babies. She wouldn’t have them being injured or anything by one of her new dogs. Once she was through the aisles, though, she spoke to the woman behind the counter and asked about the three that had caught her attention. One named Frost Rose, another named Brooke, and another named Aura. The woman agreed that she could bring the three out into the fenced in yard to see how they might get along. So, she did just that, she opened the cage to the hybrid and attempted to slip a leash on her before leading her outside if she would go. The other woman had led out Brooke and then Shaine returned for Aura. Once all three were outside Shaine let them run around to see how their personalities were and how they might get along.

Brooke was led outside by the kennel worker. Once outside she looked around at the two other dogs. Her tail wagged fiercely as she approached them. Her steps were cautious since she knew that the other dogs could very well attack her. She hoped this wasn’t the case, though and she woofed her hello to them…

Frost Rose

Frost Rose let the girl slip on the leash and followed outside. She turned and ran up and down the fence. She then turned to Brooke. She went over and raised her rear end in the air. In a playing type way. She barked hello and wagged her tail. She then went over to the girl and reared up, attempting to lick her chin. She turned in a circle and dropped back down to all fours. She went to Aura and barked hello.

Aura

Aura kept her hopes up, sincerely wishing that this would be the day she got out of here. The sooner the better. She watched as the girl looked at each dog in the pound. And then, what was this? She was being let out! Wagging her bushy tail furiously behind her she allowed herself to be lead outside, where the other two dogs were. A bit cautious of them, she sniffed the air easily. She searched the others for any aggression, and upon finding none, began wagging her tail again. She let out a yowling 'hello' to each of the fellow canines.

Shaine stood back, watching the three dogs as they interacted. So far she liked what she saw. None of them seemed to have dominance issues, which was good because aside from herself, Kaskae had established himself as the leader of the pack. He was dominant towards other dogs but only to a point, he wasn't the type to attack other dogs unless they posed a threat. But it seemed these three dogs were all getting along well and she had high hopes that they would get along well with the rest of her team. She turned to the kennel worker and spoke I will take all three of them. I assure you they will have a great home. She smiled and was handed the necessary paper work on a clipboard. She filled everything out while the dogs played and then handed it back to the woman. She was told they were good to go and Shaine thanked her. Shaine then called the three dogs over to her, waiting to see if they would come.

Brooke was excited to have all of these new dogs to play with. Though as soon as she heard her name called by the human she stopped and looked to the girl. After a moment's pause she bounded up to the girl and sat down with her tail wagging.

Frost Rose

Frost was soon bounding towards the girl. She realized she had the smell of dogs on her. She wagged her tail standing beside her. She looked at Brooke and then the girl her tail wagging like crazy. She was ready to leave this place. She went over to the gate and stood ready to leave but went back over to the girl when her name was called. She wagged her tail and barked. She howled and barked ready to leave so much readiness.

Aura

The husky kept her tail wagging as she let out a series of characteristic howls and strode around the enclosure. This human seemed to like her! Perhaps she really would be getting out of here. Panting, she turned her head quickly when she heard her name being called. Along with the other dogs, she bounded back to the girl quickly and sat back on her haunches. She obediently awaited the next orders with a flying tail. On her face was a look of canine happiness.

Shaine was glad when all three of the dogs came over to her almost as soon as she had called their names. This was a good sign, at least that meant that they had some training even if they might not have any sledding experience. None of their information sheets mentioned sledding experience, so she would have to test them on her own. That was fine, though, she had plenty of time to work with them after all. She took the time to pat each dog as she placed a leash back on them, then she made a kissing noise to call for them to walk with her. She led the three dogs out to the SUV and opened up the back door. The back seat had been tucked away to allow them the whole back of the car for the ride. She waited for them to jump in.

Frost Rose

Frost followed and sniffed around the SUV before she jumped up in it. She was the first to jump in her tail wagged and she sat near the front. She kinda acted like alpha but knew that she had dogs and had to see what they were like before she acted like alpha around them.

Aura

Aura sat obediently by the girl-- her new owner, and looked around. Her ears swiveled at the kissing sounds, causing her to jump up and stare at her owner inquisitively. She was soon following, though, and soon she found herself out at an SUV. Wagging her tail furiously once again, now she knew she truly was getting out of here. Excited to have a human once again, she leaped up inside the vehicle. She picked a random place by a window and casually plopped back.
