Trainwreck
The huge brute paced around in his cage restlessly. It was too big for him, being an Irish Wolfhound, for the cage was built for a dog about half his size. Clearly no one expected such a large dog to get caught in a place like this. But, that was just his luck.
The sign next to his cage was rusted and old and looked as though it were about to fall off. it read:
Trainwreck
Male
4
Abandoned at birth
His tail waged wildly, hopefully as every human being walked by his cage. His big brown eyes would brighten and his ears would perk. He put on the biggest smiled ever, tongue hanging out and all. But they all just walked right on by. Slowly his cheery disposition began to deteriorate and the shine in his eyes was tucked away, hidden from the world.
Ashley
Ashley sighed as he got up from his bed and cupped his face in his hands, letting out a bit of a pained moan. He hated getting up every day now that he'd been kicked out of his band and that his pets had been taken away. He was surprised that suicide hadn't popped into his mind yet. Oh, nevermind. There it is.
With another groan, Ashley got his ass up and went into the bathroom, doing the necessary. He came back out of the bathroom of his studio apartment and stood there, staring at the closet. He stopped, running his hands through his hair, further mussing it so it's usually messiness and picked out some clothes. Dark blue, super tight skinnies, a yellow Babycake tee and a pair of yellow and white striped Vans slipons.
He wasn't really sure where he was going to go today and really didn't care, but all he knew was that he needed out of that depressing apartment. As he walked towards the door, a bright pink piece of paper caught his attention. Adoption day at the pound. That sounded nice. Maybe he could get a new companion. Plus, animals always did make him happier.
A small smile flittered across Ashley's lips as he got in the car and drove the short distance to the pound. He parked and went into the pound. A nice lady led him to the back where several dogs, cats and even a monkey were walking around or laying in cages. He paced up and down the isle, looking at the fuzzy animals when one dog caught his eye. It was a ginormous Irish Wolfhound. He stooped down, kneeling and sticking a few fingers through the wires of the cage. "Hey there Trainwreck. You sure are pretty." Ashley smiled, wiggling his fingers. This could be friendship at first sight...
Trainwreck
Trainwreck watched with his huge brown eyes as yet another human walked right by his cage. 67 was the thought that ran through his wiry haired head. Yes, he had been counting, and counting, and counting. After about the 50th one Trainwrecks happy, jump up tail wagging maniacly, tongue lolling out, eyes aglow greeting became a pleading look up and a thump thump thump of his thick tail.
Trainwreck rolled over onto his back, exposing his stomach to the world. His ears flopped back and his eyes stared. Finally Trainwreck decided it was time to find something to do. He remembered a game he used to play when he was still a tiny puppy. Trainwreck ignored the fact that he barely had any room in the cage and began to slide his back end around on the floor. First he went to the left, then to the right and then back to the left again. With each twist he would reach his upper body around his well and try to catch his feet.
After a while of this however, he grew tired and just lay there, staring up at the ceiling. Would he have to spend the rest of his life here?
Trainwreck had begun to fall asleep, he was just drifting off when he heard footsteps, only this time somthing was off, they stopped, close. Trainwreck opened his eyes to find himself staring into the face of a young many. For a moment he did nothing but stare. He was trying to figure out if this was a dream or a mirage or something, sureley it couldn't be an ACTUAL human.
Trainwreck twisted the top half of his body around. And though the image of this person spun it did not go away. The brute snorted and twisted himself all the way around. His tail began to wag slowly, unsure at first. He made his way a bit closer. He smelled so good! Trainwreck barked and wagged his tail as fast as it could go but it still wasn't fast enough, not at all. When the human poked his fingers in he wriggled over to t, nsiffed them and then licked them gently.
Hi, I'm Trainwreck. And I am gonna be your gaurdian angel
Ashley
Ashley beamed as he watched the large dog's reation to his attention. It was as if the dog had never been out of his cage before. As if everyone had abandoned him without explination. Just like Ashley. That brought a small smile to his lips as he continued wiggling his fingers for the dog. "Hey Trainwreck. Come on. I won't leave you. I'm Ashley, by the way." He smiled. He must have looked like a nut, talking to a dog like it was a person, afterall.
When the dog came up to him, Ashley simply grinned like a little boy. He cooed and crooned to the dog as it licked his fingers. The lady who had led him back came up behind him with a huge smile.
"Sir, would you like to take Trainwreck home?"
Ashley looked from the woman to Trainwreck and back to the woman, nodding shyly. This dog had brought out his childish, innocent side. He stood up and moved over a bit so the woman could unlock the cage and bring Trainwreck out. Ashley beamed.
With this new dog, he could...well, quite frankly, he had no idea what he could do with this dog. They could play, of course. But what else?
"Sir, will you be needing a collar and a leash for him?"
Again, Ashley nodded and the woman left the room to, no doubt, get him what he needed. Ashley smiled and sat on his haunches, gently snapping his fingers for the dog to come over to him. "Come on Trainy-boo." He giggled softly at the nickname he'd already bestowed upon the dog and waited for a reaction.
Trainwreck
Trainwreck stepped back as well. His large, long tail was wagging so wildly now that his entire body was shaking in exhitment. He saw the woman come up and immidiatly sat down, attempting to be good. But of course the excitement just took over and he put his front paws up on the cage, almost standing to his full height. His long pink tongue hungue out of his mouth. His brown eyes had gotten their light back in them. When the woman unlocked the door he sat back down.
Instead of moving for him almost immediately, Trainwreck sat and peered cautiously around the door of the cage. He pricked his ears a big puppy dog smile was spread on his face. His tail thumped against the concrete ground rythmicly but very very very quickly. He wriggled his body and then playfully jumped out and turned around the door to look at the man.
Whenever the man would look at him in turn he would bark, toss his head and jump back only to re-appear not even seconds later to peek around the side of the door. After a while of this Trainwreck just stood there staring at the man, as if waiting for permission to come and say hi.
Finally the man becconned for him to come over. He caught the new nickname and his ears immediatly pricked again. He barked and lurched forward. He jumped on the man and pinned him to the ground. He stared into his face happily and lovingly, he barked and then cocked his head to the side as if to say, you are my new master now, and I am your gaurdian angel, we will be together forever and ever. And with that Trainwreck covered the man with licks and kisses.
Ashley
Ashley giggled lightly while he watched his new dog go through it's doggy-like antics. He beamed happily, his eyes filled with that light that they'd lost for so long. He laughed happily and signaled again for the large dog to come to him.
And that Trainwreck did. Ashley shrieked as he was knocked down and pinned down by the wolfhound. "Nice to see you too, Trainie-boo." He giggled like an excited little boy getting his first, childhood dog and ran his hands over the silky-smooth fur of his new dog. Already, he knew they were going to be best friends. companions; that Trainwreck would look after him forever.
He heard the woman laugh lightly as she came in and saw that Trainwreck was on top of Ash. She shook her head and held out the collar and leash. "Here you go sir. Take care of him." Ashley nodded through the licking before slithering out from under his canine comapnion. He held out the dark green leash and collar, holding the latter out to Trainwreck.
"Wanna go home with me Trainie-boo?" He gently shook the collar, making it jingle a bit and smile jubilantly. Already, he loved the dog.
Trainwreck
Trainwreck was so caught up in the moment that he had decided to lounge upon his newly found soulmate. He layed his body over him and continued to lick him happily. When the woman came back he jumped up and ran in tight tiny circles, which must be awfully hard for a dog of his size.
Suddenly Trainwreck seemed to get yet another one of his wonderful puppy minded ideas. He circled Achley a couple times in a tight cirlce all the while jumping up in exhitement and adding the occasional glory filled bark. His shining brown eyes were fixated on him the entire time.
He watched intently as the leash and collar were handed over . His entire body was shaking he was so exited, not to the mention the fact that duty called, loudly. Soon the brute began to dance eagerly on his paws, front left, front right, front left, front right, back left, back two, front right left.
At the sound of the gingling and the sight of the collar in front of him he jumped up again with yet another cheerful bark. At the question he barked once and then did one quick little circle. It was official from the moment they made eye contact, they were lifelong companions. At that moment in the crazy mind of Trainwreck he made a promise to himself and to Ashley that he would never leave the man's side, would never let any harm come to him.
Ashley
Ashley squeaked whenever Trainwreck barked and looked at him like he was a crazed animal. He squeaked especially loudly whenever Trainy decided to circle him like a little, crazy squirrel searching for a nut. He giggled and patted the top of the dog's head. The woman simply laughed and walked out, leaving the two to get it all settle.
"You sure are excited to go home, aren't you?" He giggled and clapped the collar on, snapping on the leash as well. "Come on Trainwreck." He gently pulled, hoping the dog would follow and walked into the reception room.
The woman smiled warmly and gave Ashley some paperwork to fill out. He tapped his foot lightly as he did, the leash loop slipping to the crook of his elbow. Then, the woman asked him a few questions. "Will you feed and care for him? Do you know the responsibilities of taking care of a pet?" Ash answered and nodded like a kid in a candy store. He was getting a dog!
The lady finally finished with him and smile, gesturing for the door. Wow, she sure as hell smiled a lot. Maybe she recently got dental work. Oh well. Ash didn't really care. He just walked towards the door, tugging the leash with him.
Trainwreck
Trainwreck smiled up at Ashley with all the care in the world. His tail had not ceased it's rythmical thumping yet and had infact picked up its pace. The brute danced and danced on his paws. His entire body was wriggling with joy.
The moment the collar was clipped on he jumped up and walked towards the door. But when Ashley didn't move just yet he just walked right back to his side and waited for him to go. When he finally did. Trainwreck barked again and bounded into the other room.
When Ashley went to the desk Trainwreck sat down at his side and looked lovingly up at him. He then jumped up and put his two front paws on the desk right next to Ashley. He was actually almost as tall as him and seemed to be attempting to look like another human. He was like that little brother that wanted to do everything you do.
When Ashley finished and turned away for a moment trainwreck didn't move and stood there, tongue hainging out, tial wagging staring at the lady. But when the leash was tugged again he jumped down and bounced after his door behind his new master.
The second the outside air reached his nose he was off like a bullet sniffing everything in site. He also still really really had to "go".
