The fawn-colored hybrid had gotten himself too close to humans and ended up caught. It had been a long time since he last saw his sister. And he hadn't yet learned that his 'parents' were both dead. Fretting and utterly bored in his cage, Emerald paced and barked.
Wolfdog bouned round his pen several times. He spotted the other hybrid. Soulfoully, he bounded up to him. "Those two-legged demons, wasn't it?" He asked.
Emerald Rain perked up his floppy ears and waved his thick, brushy tail, "Yes, it was them! They took my sister too, but she isn't here." Emerald dipped his head down. "Do you know anyone by the name of Black Fyre?"
A Black and White collie, laying in her pen on the other side of Emerald Rain.
Rain... You know what happened to her right? Killed by the two legged for being a killer? she asked thoughtfully. Her nature was to be kind, gentle.
Emerald Rain suddenly stood stiffly, staring hard at the collie in disbelief, "She... no, it can't be true!" he remembered the day she saved him and his two siblings from this very spot and taught them all how to survive and hunt and live free... No, it couldn't be true! "S-she was my mother... everyhing... it can't be..." His soft brown eyes turned towards the cold concrete, looking bleak and hopeless. There might yet be one left that he knew, "H-have you seen a dog named Silver Skye? She would look like me." His voice was choked.
She is being hunted now. For killing a cow and horse in the cow pasture, which Black Fyre helped killing. Im sorry... she replied, before geting up. Easy trick... she thought, as she used her muzzle to unlatch her pen and walked out, careful to shut in, and did the same to come into the other one's pen. Angel shook, then looked over at him, sitting next to him. Killing is terrible business, for as soon as the blood touches you, you sort of get in a...trance. You want more of it, and kill until you are killed. Ive seen it happen. My best friend,Mark, killed a chicken in our old home. Killing more and more ntil two-leggeds came up caught him and took him away. I heard he was killed. Angel shuddered at the thought.
He dropped his head further down, "This can't be happening... I must save her at least! She's my sister, but I haven't seen her for a long while." Emerald Rain sighed and looked to Angel, "I'm sorry to hear about Mark. Human's have such strange and confusing ways."
Rain nudged Emerald.
It'll be okay, I know you can save her.Its ok abut Mark, hes gone, but you should try to help your sister!she said.
Kavik perked his ears. He whistled for the other two. "Hey you two! Over here!" He called softly.
Emerald Rain was about to reply when he heard the whistle. His tawny ears perked right up and his head swung around to see the other. Curiously, he stood, "Who are you?" his voice was friendly enough, for Emerald Rain wasn't a mean or aggressive dog.
Kavik lowered his dial and voice. "Tonight." Kavik said. "Tonight, now. I'm getting us outa here." He growled.
Emerald Rain sat back on his haunches, "But how?" He wasn't the most creative thinker, but it would be very difficult indeed to break out of the kennels.
Angel looked over at the other dog calling to them.
You do know it is indeed very hard to get out, yes? she asked him.
Kavik crouched. "Yeah, but only with teamwork can we get ourselves outa here." He whispered.
Angel thought this over. I will come, but I think we should stick together for a while. she whispered, unlocking the latch again and doing the same to get into his to work. I dunno where I learned that... she whispered in disgust.
"Emerald, you coming?" Kavik turned his dial to the other.
