Fallen Ember

A racing shadow traced Ember's path over the mountains, spurred on by powerful beats of her broad, cinnamon wings. "Saulk! Tyrant!" The eagle called out before landing with a clatter of curved talons in front of the main temple entrance. "I have news!"

Saulk

Saulk stretched and raised himself from the cool stone floor he'd been resting on just inside the mouth of the temple. He took another stretch after standing up, bowing his front end to the ground and letting his tail arch high above him. Finishing that off with a shake, the wolfdog trotted forth from his domain and sauntered towards the waiting eagle. "Yes, Ember?"

Fallen Ember

The clack of claws sounded again as the giant raptor turned about to face her Leader. "Saulk, I've spied two young cubs on their own, not far from here." Ember relayed, "Likely tiger hybrids." There was an eagerness to the eagle's bright eyes, a desire for action and a yearning to help. This was her first good 'find' as the group's scout, and she was ready to see it through.

Saulk, Dally, Leomar, & Zanarah

"Two lone cubs?" The gears in Saulk's mind began to turn, thinking first of the Makucha, and then of the Sora Asiatic pride. But surely, neither of them would be lax enough in their supervision to allow two of their cubs to wander off this far from their turf? "And you're sure they are alone, no adults in sight?" Without waiting for Ember's confirmation, Saulk belted out a low, brief howl to call his fellow Haunters to him.

Leomar and Zanarah soon appeared, both emerging from the cool retreat of the Temple where they'd been napping away in the heat of the day. It was Zana who spoke as she delicately reclined on her haunches in front of Saulk, "You called?"

Leomar stood a pace or two away, looking less than interested, but at least he was present.

Dally was not long in arriving either, and alighted on the ground next to Ember.

Fallen Ember

"No adults." Confirmed Ember, "They must be only a few months old; almost small enough for me to lift." When Saulk called for his fellow Haunters to assemble, the excitement in Ember began to rise even further. She partially extended her wings, almost knocking into Dally in her giddiness, "I can lead you there, if you want to investigate further?"

Saulk, Dally, Leomar, & Zanarah

Saulk stifled a light chuckle at the clear exuberance that the young eagle was feeling, striving to keep his facade one of stoicism and confidence in this moment. He had to act decisively, and he had to act fast if he wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. "Please do, Ember. Dally-" He looked to the falcon that had side-stepped the giant wing and was now shooting the larger raptor a pointed glare. "I need you higher in the sky; make sure none of our enemies are in the area."

Dally bobbed his hooded head and, without a word, dove into the sky and rocketed out of sight.

"Zanarah, I'd like you with me to greet our new cubs. Leomar, I need you to trail after and make sure this... meeting.. isn't interrupted." With the orders given and everyone settled with a task, the wolf waited only for the eagle to guide them.

Leomar flexed his claws and shook out his heavy mane. He was almost a little disappointed to hear that no parents were in the area, for it had been far too long since he'd had any real action, but at least they had something to do this evening.

"Of course." Was Zanarah's simple response, belying her actual interest. The last time she'd help to take younglings, it was against Crucifix's old pack, but she was the attack dog rather than the Converter. The ligeress was eager to test her wiles and help recruit these new potential members this time.

Fallen Ember

Her marmalade-hued eyes glistened, showing a smile where her ridged beak could not, "I'll fly low - follow me!" She took a few steps and pumped her wings, and was soon climbing above her packmates. She circled once in the sky before honing in on the correct direction, then began to sail down the Croal Mountains.
