Cortinarri
Though permanently crippled in her hind leg, Cortinarri had self-appointed herself as the new alpha of the Opake Mountains pack- or what was left of it. She hadn't heard from Manov or Ghost in a long while, and the weasle of a wolf Nightcrawler had long since deserted them for the Ochotona pack. Amber and Charcoal had disappeared as well, and Pheral... well, Cortinarri didn't think much of her anyway.
Standing poise on a high outcropping of rock, the wolfess howled long and clear, hoping to bring new blood to the pack.
Keilo
A snake bite during the summer had left Keilo with a leg that was nearly lame, and the consequences of that had reverberated like ripples in a pond. He could not move as fast, and so he could not catch prey. He could not get enough to eat, and so he began to lose weight. Losing his stored fat and once bulky muscles led him to a lack of energy, which played right into having trouble locating and catching meals. It was a vicious problem that grew and multiplied on itself.
Keilo had not always been that fond of Cortinarri, for her attitude certainly wasn't the kindest around. And yet... she was a decent leader, back in the day with her and Manov at the Silver Glades. "Cortinarri!" The wolf barked, limping along a narrow ridge to locate the female. "Is this an invite I'm hearing? You wouldn't mind an old friend joining you, would you?" He needed a pack now.
Cortinarri
A smug little smile decorated her pristine muzzle as she looked upon her long-time pack member, "That it is, Keilo. It looks like you do need some help. Won't you join me now, to attracted some more recruites?" Cortinarri asked, pointing out Keilo's flawed leg as a way of making herself feel better about her own crippled hindlimb. Holding her head dignantly, she continued on with her howl, hoping to get the attention of more possible members.
Keilo
Though he doubted that she'd reject his proposal to join her pack, Keilo was nonetheless relieved when she accepted him. "Of course, Cortinarri." The wolf lifted his muzzle heaven-ward and added his baratone-deep voice to the chorus.
Pheral
Pheral moved quickly, feeling her body released from the hold of the drug with every moment that past. Before she had been stumbling and staggering about when she was first let loose, but now, she was running fine, if not a bit winded. She could only imagine what kind of strange things the humans had done to her, and she wanted to get to safety as fast as possible.
Hearing the howl of a familiar, Pheral changed her course to meet up with Cortinarri. The large sow slowed down as she reached the duo, head low but bright eyes singing with alarm, "Cortinarri, excuse ....the interuption... the humans are... out hunting! ....I think we should return to the packlands at once ....so I can devise ....some precautions..." Pheral spat out inbetween breaths.
Cortinarri
Her eyes narrowed slightly as Pheral came barging into their conversation. A snarl rose in her throat when she smell of humans hit her, "Devise something?" Cortinarri was quiet for a moment as she watched the sow, wondering what in the world Pheral could to do 'prepare' for hunters. But if anything, at least the pig could provide distraction in case humans did come. "Fine then, lets head back. Come on, Keilo. We'll get some food soon as well." Carrying her tail high, Cortinarri headed for the Opake Mountains.
