Herd of Bighorns

The herd of bighorn sheep foraged through the snow. Bolt was trying to ram Vacar his father, but his father was too quick. Barran talked with Ruby her best friend and Cleve stayed by himself. Something told him that he wouldn't make through the winter, either a predator would claim or the winter itself. He looked around with his one good eye and spotted a clump of grass a little ways off. He began moving towards it arthritis making every movement painful. Finally he reached the clump of vegetation and tore the grass out of the ground. He looked up while he chewed watching for predators. It began snowing lightly and he turned to his herd and began walking towards them. Vacar greeted him with a respectful nod and continued playing with his son. Something seemed to be bothering Cleve and he wondered what it was. Perhaps his arthritis was acting up again. He decided he would go and talk to him. Hello Cleve is something bothering you? Cleve looked over at his friend and replied. Oh its nothing young'un go tend to your son. He continued on his way he went over to a lone pine tree and layed down under.

Eclipse, Jet, Rason + Ranya

Eclipse lead the small band through the snow. His black coat made him stand out in the whiteness. He looked back to the wolves who had folowed him away from their birth pack. His brother, Jet, followed close behind him. Then came Rason and Ranya. They had all grew up and learned to hunt together. So when they came upon the herd of bighorn sheep, and noticed the old male wander away from the others, Eclipse could predict what would happen. Jet would chase the herd away, with Ranya following to make sure none doubled back. Then him and Rason would corner the old bighorn. Eclipse would attack and bring the old male down.

Sure enough, as they caught sight of the bighorns, Jet sprinted away from the group. He passed the old male and made for the rest of the herd. He approached them with his mouth open and teeth bared. Letting out a howl that would spook them even more, he darted at the young one. He meant no harm, only to frighten the youngster.

Rason followed Eclipse to the old bighorn. He was lying under a tree. This would be an easy kill. He closed in, staring at the bighorn. Under no surcumstances would Jet let this bighorn get away alive.

Ranya followed Jet slowly. It was her job to follow the herd making sure none broke free and tried to help the prey, even though that would mean almost certain death. Her tail was low as she trotted slowly after the herd.

Bighorns

Vacar was the first to notice the wolves approaching. He bellowed out a warning and ran off toward Barran and Ruby, Bolt right behind. One of the wolves went for Bolt and Vacar kicked out at him aiming for his throat. Ruby noticed the wolves heading for Cleve and screamed to Cleve. Cleve look out! Ruby wanted to help him, but she was too afraid. Barran slowed down waiting for Bolt and Vacar to catch up. Cleve would have to fend for himself. Vacar saw the plan the wolves had worked out and there was no way to help Cleve without risking his own life. Vacar decided to take that risk. Cleve rised and lowered his head and prepared to fight. He wouldn't last long, but he could save his herd. Cleve pawed the ground waiting for the right time to charge. He lumbered forward and fell over his arthritis would bring him to an end. He managed to catch a glimpse at Vacar running at him he was brave but foolish. He would die, the wolves were waiting for someone to do that acrifice themselves so they could have to creatures to feed on. Vacar lowered his head and charged the female following the other wolf, he would die to protect Cleve and the herd and that may happen he could fend off a whole pack of wolves.
