*Goats & Ravens*

A group of seven goats were milling around a flat expanse of area about half way up the mountain. A young kid goat had gotten her hoof caught in a rock crevice, and couldn't pull it out now. After struggling for a day at the spot, she had only managed to bloody her leg and grow desperately weak and cold.

The rest of the herd stayed near her, unsure of what to do and unable to really help her.

10 crows had gathered around the surrounding trees, waiting for the kid's death, which would bring a feast to them.

Ayla

Ayla, the pygmy owl, flew up to one of the branches and ho-ed softly. She wasn't normally out in this time of day, but she had to find some food. She looks up at the crows and asks, "How long have they been out here? And how long do you think it will be before the wolves come?" She cocks her head and sighs. She shifts her weight and stares at the goats.

*Goats & Ravens*

The ravens all turned to the owl, staring hard at her for a moment before one spoke up, "About a day, I think." She spoke. And as she replied to the owl, the other ravens seemed to relax. Normally, they would attack and pester any owl they saw, for the predators often took young crows and ravens. But Ayla was a smaller species, so they decided against harassing her this time. Besides, they were nearly twice her size, and felt quite confident in her presence. The raven spoke again, "I'm surprised none have showed up yet. But I do wish they'd hurry; we're awfully hungry for goat right now."

ayla

The little owl smiled and thought, Finally, birds that don't pester me about my height. She swiveled her head and looked around. Then she replied, "I could use a mouse right now myself. But why do you wait for the wolves? Your meat is rigt there." She cocked her head ad blinked slowly, then held her eyes open. That was one advantage of being an owl.

*Goats & Ravens*

The she-raven nodded, hungry eyes glistening down on the weakened kid below them. "We could kill it ourselves, but the adults might interfere." Some of the other birds murmured quietly between themselves. Their conventional method for killing young lambs and goats was to peck out their eyes; not the prettiest way to kill something, but an effective way none the less when you had no teeth or claws.

Another raven suddenly fluttered his wings to get attention, "We could scare one off a cliff! I think a plump adult would be better than a scrawny kid." The bird waited for approval.

The others nodded with great interest, taking up the other's idea with caws of agreement. The she-raven turned quickly to Ayla, "Would you help us in this task? We know a great place to catch mice." She offered.

Below, the goats were completely oblivious to the planning going on above them. Rarely did they pay attention to the birds or other little animals.

Ayla

the little owl smiled and felt her hunger ache in her stomach. She nodded and said, "Sure I can help." She looked at the goats and said, "Now, which one?" She cocked her head and blinked, looking at the goats and getting hungrier. She turned around, made a pellet and turned back around. She looked at the crows and thought, Finally. Now we're getting somewhere. She sighed and looked at the goats again.

*Goats & Ravens*

The raveness looked down at the group, her dark, beady eyes seeking out a victim. "That one." She finally declared, staring intently on the mother of the trapped kid. "She's the most preoccupide; she ought to be the easiest to scare." Then the raven leapt from the branch, her comrades in quick pursuit. The birds began to dive and flurry past the targeted goat, but Ayla's sharp claws would work the best to get her moving...

Ayla

Ayla looked and when she saw the goat, she nodded. Then she took off. She dug her talons in her back, hoping to make her move forawrd. She glanced at the other goats to see if they would portect her, then realized that they were'nt like wolves.. hopefully. She hoo-ed out and poked her with her talons again, this time on her rump.
