*Storm*
A violent thunderstorm had set its sights on the mountain, unleashing a torrent of water that lasted for hours and darkened the skies so that it looked like dusk.
As the sun began to nudge its rays through the thinning clouds at the ending of the storm, a small section of the mountain gave way. The sudden and vast amount of water triggered a mudslide. Several large rocks began to slide slowly down the mountain, near the bottom of it. A huge section of earth broke loose and began to move downward as well, carrying with it several plants and small trees. The section of sodden earth and rocks began to pick up speed and drag more mud and debris with it. Soon, a section of ground nearly 20 yards wide was slipping quickly down the slope, taking out everything in its path...
Oreo
Oreo was wandering around when she heard the strange noises coming from above. Curious, she went to find out what it was. Her damp pelt bristling, she gasped at the huge slife heading straight for her. She was right in it's path and desired to not get ran over. She could get severely hurt if she happened to get stuck in it, so instead of making a chancing dash to the side she found a giant rock and ran to it, ducking next to it on the opposite side of the mud slide. She stayed as low as she possibly could, wndering if she would still get stuck in the slide or if it would go over her and miss her...
*Mud Slide*
The mud and debris pounded against the rock just seconds after Oreo ducked behind it. Luckily for her, the rock was massive, and most of its bulk was firmly planted under the ground, so it wasn't moved by the impact. But the rock wasn't terribly wide. The moving earth found its way around the rock, moved on by all the mass still coming down the mountain. The thick mire swelled up around Oreo's legs and began to pull her away from the safety of the rock...
Oreo
Oreo gasped once again as the mud slid around her legs, and she then quickly knew she had to react before it was too late if she wanted to live. With a loud yelp, she hopped up, trying to go as quickly as she could without letting her paws sink very deep into the mud. She knew she could drown in this stuff, and that she was taking a threatening chance bewteen life and death. Which would win? She tried hopping the way the mud slide was going; which was down, while still moving as fast as she could, trying to outrun the slide even though she knew she most likely wouldn't get away...
*Mud Slide*
If she could have freed her paws, it would have been possible for Oreo to outrun the slide. But the relentless much was too thick and held her limbs like suction cups. It carried her farther down the slope and slowly dragged her deeper and deeper under, until all that remained to be seen of her body was her back, shoulders, and head. Sharp rocks caught up in the slide cut against her flesh as she was dragged along; vines and other plants got tangled around her paws. But Orea was lucky.
The slide had reached the bottom of the slope and was now on level ground. It slowed down as it lost momentum, and just in time. For now, only Oreo's mud-splattered head was above the muck. Her limbs and body were imprisoned in the thick mire, making it almost impossible to move. She couldn't get out by herself...
Oreo
Oreo yelped as she was pulled under, and she started wiggling, trying to free herself. But she couldn't and as she felt the rocks cut into her she growled angrily and put even more power into her quick strokes. Finally at the bottom, she continued struggling, but couldn't possibly get free. Knowing she couldn't do this by herself, she started howling and barking, wanting to catch someone's attention...
*Raven*
A raven had heard all the commotion and come out of curiousty to check it out. Spotting Oreo, he glided down to a rock that was sticking out from the mud and cocked his head at the trapped canine, "Are you stuck? My... what a thing to have happen!" He wondered aloud, gazing at the destruction, "I will try to help you, if I can. If you need it."
Oreo
Oreo looked up at the bird, tilting her head abit. But then he mind came back to reality, and she wiggled some more, but then stopped.
"Yes, I am stuck. I could use some help though." she said, still squirming. She was getting tired quickly though.
Deception
She-wolf growled as she saw the mud slide roll down the mountain. She was far enough that she was out of the way of it but was close enough to see that another wolf was trapped in the silt. She charged towards the ozzing muck and spoke calmly to the vixen.
Don't worry, I'll help you. I'm Deception
She smiled at the vixen before watching the mud. It was reasonably slow but was incredably deep. She didn't know whether she could get in and pull the vix out or get stuck. She tried to streach out towards the vixen but couldn't reach. Then she took her life in her hands and lept into the mud, grabbing the other vixes hide trying to pull her towards the bank. Her body was instantly weighed down by the mud but she continued to try and battle against it and reach dry land.
Oreo
She-dog noticed the wolf and she watched her, nodding at her words. Then seeing her jump in, she stopped wiggling around and watched her. Then, feeling the wolf grab her hide and that was when she also started squirming, pulling herself away from the muck also and trying to reach dry land again...
Deception
She-wolf's bodice was being weighed down by the thick mud. She struggled furiously to try and reach the back. Still holding the she-dogs scruff she tugged and together they made their way closer to shore. They needed just a bit more time to reach the bank, but if the mud slide quickened or more mud came down she didn't know what would happen. She snarled, angry that she couldn't get to land any quicker. She was up to her neck in the oozing muck. Would they reach the embankment in time or would they tire and the mud cause more chaos?
