White Eclipse
The large snowy wolf was now back, where he liked to stay. He was on the lookout for a meal, for he had not eaten in quite some time, maybe days. He had gained much strength, making him confident during hunting.
His white body was perched low to the ground, stomach snarling at himself. His ears were laid back, trying not to be at all that noticed. His muzzle was all ready, tense, strong, and willing, to go out and visiously snap at his prey. His chilled nose was sniffing at the cold wind, getting in all the scents around while he patiently awaited his prey.
*Prey*
There was the faint scent of blood and the sounds of struggling not too far away... If the sound and scent were followed, it would lead to a young mountain goat, caught in a leg hold trap. It was an odd catch, but the young goat had injured it's hind leg and sides during a fall and couldn't climb back up to the highest parts of the mountain with the rest of the flock. Consciquently, he continued to travel further and further down the mountain until he entered the wooded areas and happened across a trap line. And now one of his front legs was caught.
If the trap line is followed, it could lead to more easy prey. But one would have to be careful not to get caught...
If this is unfavorable hunting, White Eclipse could continue searching for more signs.
White Eclipse
The wolf's nose caught the scent of a mountain goat. His strong legs carried him toward the scent, his body still low, watching for anything that could ruin his find. He finally came apon the animal, but he silently stayed to the ground, wanting to see more moves it would make first...
*Mountain Goat*
There was fresh blood on the ground. The goat, nearly the size of an adult by now, was laying partially on his side. Every now and then the white-coated creature would pull at the chain and struggle for freedom, but it was useless. Even now, he captured leg was badly cut and swollen from his many hours of struggling. His hind limb was also badly swollen, but that was from his previous accident of falling.
White Eclpise
The white's gaze came apon the struggling animal, wounds and gashes on the one leg caught in the trap.
Without any thought, the white wolf quickly bounded over the ground, hinds and forlimbs pressing off the solidness. He pounced for the goat's throat, jaws open, teeth prepared, and the easiest way to kill...
*Mountain Goat*
The goat had no chance. It's greatest asset was taking away; it's quick and sure running. With no real way to protect itself, the wolf was easily able to get at the throat at kill the creature by causing severe damage to the vital organs of the neck.
There was no scent or sound of human. But his faint scent left a clear trail as to where his trap line lay.
White Eclipse
The wolf loosend his teeth's deadly grasp and scenced the animal was dead. His first animal kill!
He quickly lunged his jaws straight at the trap, trying to break it. Then he pulled it out of the ground, throwing all of his weight onto the ground. He then dragged the animal away to feast.
