Locus
The steely-gray brute had recently declined a home; although the alphas probably didn't know it yet. After he learned his half-brother was at the Silver Glades, Locus decided against going there. Now he traveled to the heights of the Croal Mountains, searching casually for any other wolves he might be able to talk with. And, he kept a keen look about for a meal.
Rocky Road
Rocky Road was also traveling up the mountian slope, but much different things on his mind. Why have he done it? It wasn't like him, no one had taught him anything close to the deed he had just done. Though he was a bit cheerful at the time he done it, he now regretted not eating more.
Though he smelt wolf before, he did not pay attention. But suddenly he spotted Locus as they were about to cross paths. His thoughts of what happened earier vanished and his instincts rushed in. He growled meancingly and stood lower to the ground. His St. Bernard coat stood at end and twitched now and then. But his senses were more alert then his mother's from his black wolf father. The two already massive beasts made him an incredible size, but just how he stood there told everyone that he knew how to keep it in check.
He stood there silently, despite his growling which turned to a low rumble, waitinf for what ever was going to happen next.
Locus
Locus jerked his head up as his muscles tightened. He was surprised by the size of the hybrid before him and quite honestly a bit afraid. A faint growl issued from his throat in warning to the other brute, "What's your business?" Locus questioned, lowering his head now in a deffensive posture.
Rocky Road
He riased himself in a dominant posture, but did not seem to be asking the ohter for submission. He winked and smiled in an evil way, he could fear his slight fear from here. "My business is probably much like yours, but it is my own."
Locus
He held his defensive posture still, ready to react to what ever might happen. "Good enough." Locus replied cautiously, "Are you a lone wolf? If you don't mind me asking, that is." His tone wasn't mocking now, but Locus was always wary of wolves from packs. If a fight broke out against such a charater, their pack could show up in defense. Not that Locus was looking for a fight, but it would ease his mind to know these things.
Rocky Road
It caught him back slightly that he was referred to a wolf, most were not able to get over the fact he was only half. But only a slight pause was given in any hint of his shock, his stance was still there and ready for anythig as well.
He had no pack, and understood his concern. He had now learned this method of the wild canines, unfortunately, the hard way. He growled softly before repling, the was no point stretching the truth or anything of that matter, "Aye, I'm alone. Yourself?" His voice was gruff and rough, and he did not feel the need to add the 'if you don't mind me asking'. he told, so why shouldn't he? But then again, he may not.
Locus
He took in a deeo breath, taking in the scent of Rocky Road even more. Though he was new around here and didn't know any of the packs, it seemed this hybrid didn't carry a pack scent. Locus relaxed a little, but was still on guard enough.
Locus shook his head slightly, "I'm alone. I'm trying to find one of my half brothers." The steel-gray brute gave a pause, then decided to go on, "Have you met a wolf named Bracken?"
Rocky Road
It struck him strange this meeting became a informational one. Just because he was a bit restless he began pacing in front of the other in a half circle, as if he was preparing to strike. But his growling subsided and his expression a bit curious, lessening teh chance of him going in for a fight.
His thoughts raced across his memory, have he heard about a wolf named Bracken? He didn't think so, he heard of few and met even less. Names and faces rushed through his mind, no brackens or anyone that looked somewhat like him.
He was looking for his half brother? Did he have any relations? He might now, it wasn't like people to breed animals only once. But then again, he was teh only surviors of his siblings, they could just all die...
He finally opened his maw to speak, "No." IHs voice was still rough, but it was not so much anger put into it.
Locus
Locus gave a slient nod in aknowledgement to the response, seeming a bit put down. He didn't care much for his other half brother, Taiser, but he got along well enough with Bracken. The steely wolf wanted to talk more with Rocky Road, but he was cautious of this one's attitude and didn't want to anger him by starting unwanted conversation. But, he decided on just one more, perhaps, "I'm on my way to hunt. Do you know of any good locations I might try?"
Rocky Road
The answer was easy, he did not. He was new to the lands, but did not feel uncomfortable. The only place he hunted was at the ranch, but he assumed he did not want to take that route.
Simething struck him as odd, that's been happening alot lately, he was talking to this canine, as he done briefly with others. No fences enclosed him, no screams, no rattling chains and cracks of a whip over his head. He was not expected to fight every canine or beast he met, he could chose which one to fight or leave alone. How long would it take to tell his rock solid senses?
He unvoluntary licked his maw in a thoughtful way, the small portion of his last meal did not satisfy him much. He would be able to last, but it would be nice to eat again. He sat down on his haunches, figuring if any fight was going to break out it would be by his own accord, and studied the brute before him. "I do not," his voice was amazingly smoother then his previos tones, "but I'm sure most big game won't be up here." It was too cold, most herds probably already migrated down wards. But then again there was always the loners or late migraters, he would find some if he looked.
Rocky Road
A small breeze drifted up to the pair and Rocky Road instantly put his nose to it. He seemed to pause, studying the air as if he was making sure of something. With a rather sudden and loud growl he jumped up and ran towards the other wolf.
But anyone if any experience could tell he was not going for the wolf, and he didn't. The beast ran right by him and off into the distance, looking rather angry.
