Tala

Her paws ached from her long journey, her claws chipped from climbing the many rocks to reach this place. Her black nose twitched as she gathered the scents of the land. Her ears flicked back and forth trying to pick up any sound that came to here. She suddenly threw back her head and howled towards the Heavens. Then watched, listened and waited for an answer.

Peregrine

The lonely beta had always held out some flicker of hope for his long-lost mate and daughter, but he knew he must move on at some point. To accept the inevitable. He had a very good pack now, but the large wolf had always felt lonely since the day he had been captured from the wilds, and even then when he was freed again.

Hearing the howl brought the beta to a sudden stop as his ebony ears perked forward. He replied with a cry of his own that waivered in the air. Then steadily, he began to trot towards the fae to meet her.

Tala

She stood, listening to her howl echo. Wondering if there was another wolf close by. Maybe this time she would finally be accepted into another pack.

Her thoughts were interrupted by an answering howl. Her ears instantly came up and a quiver of excitement shivered through her body. She looked up to see a stranger come towards her. A low warning growl escaped her throat as she turned her head to the left to observe him with her scarless eye.

Peregrine

Peregrine halted abruptly at the howl, daring not to anger any she-wolf. He dipped his head politelty, but his ruff was. Being in winter coat, it made him look even bigger than he was, "Pardon me," the beta began, "My name is Peregrine. From the Avalanche Grove pack. You're a loner?" He questioned.

Tala

The she-wolf stood unmoving, keeping her gaze on the other wolf. "My name is Tala, and yes I am a loner" She said, hoping that he didn't hear the same coldness in her voice that she had, or at least didn't take offence if he had.

Peregrine

He was silent for a moment, debating things in his mind. He had been alpha once and was keen to control everything that happened in his pack; with the help of his late mate, Prue, of coarse. So now he wondered if it was wise to do what he was about to do, now that he wasn't the alpha of his pack.

"I am the beta of a pack just south of here. Would you... be interested in joining it?"

Tala

Although she wanted to join pack she had always been nervous. Every pack she had joined eventually drove her out. She trusted Peregrine but was unsure whether to join his pack since he was not the alpha. Finally she made her decision. "I'd love to".

Peregrine

A light smile came to his two-toned muzzle, "You won't regret it, it is a good pack." Peregrine went on confidentally. "I'll show you the way." The large lupine turned south now to head along the small dips and valleys of the Croal Mountain, and to the White River Mountain Range where his pack's territory was located.
