A group of Border collies, led by a black and brown brindle, headed into the Croals. Jersey, at the front of the other two, was sniffing wildly and searching the area with keen senses. They were actually looking for a coyote by the name of Tahti, but were having no such luck.
Suddnly, Jersey sat back on his brindle haunches and panted. The mountains were quite big, not to mention steep-- especially where they were.
He laid down in the snow, tired and exhausted from the trek. He could keep going, but didn't want to overwork himself. Not now.
Bree and Austin were tired as well. Bree, on the other paw, was still raring to move on. She was the most active out of the canines, and could go a long time. Yet, deciding that this would be the best thing, she sat as well and went to dozing off.
Austin sat down, shaking his pelt free of the snow. "I hate this stuff, cold and bitter..." he mumbled to himself. He hated the snow, and anything cold, unless it was a benefit him. Snorting, he sat and shivered lightly for a brief moment, before his body was still again.
Demon had left the Alleys for a while. He was bored and sniffing around. The black wolf had trekked far up the mountains and had gotten tired. Now, he felt ready to go. However, he lay on a rock, sticking out in the snow, and watched for anything interesting. He spotted a couple of dogs and cocked his head, curious. He leapt from his perch and few ways downa and headed down to them. "Hello." He called when he got near, watching the trio of Collies.
Jersey was too into thinking to realize that a wolf was near. His brindle coat was slowly beginning to collect bits of crystallized water as he laid there, head lowered and resting lightly on his paws in a comfortable position. His deep eyes were half shut, as he almost felt his mind turn to thinking about sleep. He was tired, especially after the trek up here. It was colder as well, and that didn't help much.
Bree was already half-covered with snow, with little drifts leading up to each side, and her chocolate head poking out. Her white neck and front side weren't very great in contrast to the icy snow. Her eyes were completely shut— she had practically been off in dreamland since they got here.
Austin, feeling the cold snow against his furry hide, shivered once more. He went to turn his head, and that's when he spotted the black wolf, even before he heard the hello. Floppy auds pricking, he suddenly became stiff and on edge, particially from the snow, and the rest from the unknown wild canine. "Who're you?" he quickly went to asking, quickly forgetting about the cold.
Demon wagged his tail a few times to show he wasn't a threat. "I'm Demon. Who're you guys?" The raven wolf questioned, flicking an ear. Snowflakes drizzled slowly onto his pelt, making him look speckled. After a while it was bone-chilling and he shook, escaping the freezing of the snow...for now.
"I'm Austin... And that's Jersey and Bree." he stated, an invisible brow raising. He released a wide yawn, bored from sitting here. He shivered once more, realizing the snow beneath him was melting and soaking into his fur.
"What do you want?" the brindle suddenly said, standing up from the snow and shaking his pelt off. His dark eyes gleamed with a certain suspicion. He was silent then, his muscles still and tense. He didn't trust many in this valley, since they were fairly new to the area.
Bree continued sleeping, lost in her dreams.
Cloud Nine led Skye up the mountains, shivering the whole time. It wasn't long before they saw a sight they never thought they would see. Fellow border collies! She raced the rest of the way up the mountain. "Hi!" She exclaimed from a distance, seeing that the border collies were not alone. "My name's Cloud Nine, and my friend here is Skye!"
Skye followed gleefully, even though she was freezing. "Wh-what do you s-s-see, Cloud?" She asked, trying to see through the thick snow.
Demon nodded as he announced each collie. "Bree seems...tired." He commented. "I wanted to see who was coming through, but you do look a bit lost...are you searching for something?" Just as the canine asked this, two more collies came up behind him, though one called from afar. "I am Demon." He called back. He sat, trying to prove he was no threat, merely curious.
Austin gave the wolf a nod, his body loosening up a bit now. He felt that this "unusual" canine wasn't much of a threat. Besides, it was three against one if anything came to happen. That made the Border feel much better, even though he didn't think this conversation would involve teeth and claws.
Jersey nodded as well, but to the second thing the wolf said. "No and yes. No, we're not very lost, and yes, we are looking for something. More like someone, actually. Have you seen a coyote named Tahti by any chance?" he asked, auds pricking. He himself was a bit less tense, but he was still a bit questioning. He tried his best not to show it, though. Then his attention was directed to a couple other dogs, and once they came up, he realized just what they were. Tilting his head a bit, he let out a gruff bark. "Hello," he called back, preferring more to sit and wait for the others to come up instead of daring to speak over the wind and snow drifts.
Austin had woken Bree up by now, and they both took a seat by Jersey. Austin was a bit curious of this whole situation, but he said nothing. Sighing, he shivered once more and lowered onto his white belly.
"Hey!" Bree seemed to chirp happily, though she was still a bit tired. Shaking her white-frosted pelt, her dark reddish-brown eyes watched the other Borders.
Skye ran up to the other Border Collies, wagging her tail. "Hey, everyone. What are you doing?" She asked in a nosy way.
Cloud Nine followed Skye, panting and coughing.
Demon's tail lowered slightly. "I'm sorry, I can't say I have. I can keep a lookout, or help you look, if you wish." The devil offered, turning to the two newer collies. He gave no explanation, he himself hadn't a clue. Flicking his radars, he scratched his nape before going back to standing, waiting.
Jersey looked at the two other Borders, wondering why they were out here. It certainly wasn't usual, but then again, he and his friends were of the same breed. At least they could know that they weren't the only ones out here.
"Looking for someone," he stated in reply, a little more trusting of the other dogs than the wolf. He was warming up to all of them, though, so you couldn't really get anything bad out of that.
His cinnamon eyes watched the bunch before they were completely focused on the single wolf. "Oh, we couldn't trouble you with that," he stated first, "but it'de be a great help. Her name's Tahti, and she's a coyote. That's all we knew, pretty much."
Austin was looking at the fae Borders, more interested in them than the wolf. While he still held a good bit of curiousity for the wild canine, he was watching the dogs. "Hey!" he yelped, hopping toward them lightly, and then taking another seat. They all belonged to a certain large group of canines, so that probably only aided Austin's desire to meet others.
Bree was looking at Austin first, then the wolf, then to the other Borders. She kept her seat though, and with a long, deep sigh, stood up and drowzily plodded over to Austin and the other dogs. That's where she sat back again, and stretched her fore legs out in front of her. She would just listen for now.
