Adrian Volkov & Shasta Wild

Adrian tried to remember the story Ben told them in case anybody asked. They were to say that the father was killed by the Akatsukis, Ben was the grandfather, and Shasta was handing the children over to him for their own safety.

Adrian helped Shasta into the hospital and called out for the doctors. "Hey! My friend needs a doctor! She's going into labor!" He shouted.

Shasta leaned on Adrian, cringing and whimpering.

Dr. James

It didn't take long for the ER staff to get to work, with one pair of strong-armed nurses getting Shasta settled into the wheelchair and a third nurse beginning to ask Adrian about all of her pertinent info: how far along, her blood type, any allergies, etc.

Adrian & Shasta

Adrian was completely confused about the questions. He hadn't known Shasta for very long, and really, they had hated each other for some time. He had just recently gotten to know her. Okay, he had to play it cool. "She's just over seven months along. That's premature, right, doc? Oh, her blood type is O-positive. She's allergic to...uh...penicillin." He watched as Shasta was wheeled away. Oh, great. He was getting attached. "Don't worry, Shas', your dad will be here soon." The Russian man said.

Shasta groaned and looked back at her 'friend.' "I-I'll be alright, Adrian." She moaned. But she wished Ben would hurry up. She didn't want to Akatsukis showing up.

Dr. James

It didnt' take long for them to get Shasta seated in a wheelchair and start wheeling her back to labor and delivery, and in that time, the nurse who'd been questioning Adrian wrote down all that he told her, and handed this off to yet another nurse. With that information heading off to the room with the girl, the nurse told Adrian, "You'll need to wait out here... you'll be notified of her progress." And with that, she turned on her heel, and moved back to follow the path of Shasta's wheelchair.

Adrian & Shasta

Adrian nodded. "Alright." He said calmly. He took a seat by the door, monitoring who entered the hospital and who left.

Shasta put her hands over her stomach. She had been through this once before. Her daughter died a few weeks after birth. She feared that the same thing would happen to these children. She wished Ben would hurry up. Her enemies could show up at any moment.

Eva

Her hair was slightly damp, framing a tan face as she rushed in, looking for Dr. James. She cursed under her breath lightly, then bean to take all of Shasta's vitals, timing to see how much time was between her contractions. Shit... She hissed softly under her breath. Don't worry, honey, nothings wrong. She said to Shasta, but her movements were clipped and quick. Your the second girl whose come in tonight whose around seven months along and in labor. You should be fine, your healthy and young. I need you to take deep breaths though, ok? Do you have anyone you want me to call? Time was ticking, and she really needed to get back to Aralyns room. The other woman was horrifyingly thin, and word had it that she had twins on the way. Eva wasn't sure that the girl would make it through the night.

Shasta Wild

Shasta looked up at the doctor. She, like Aralyn, was to have twins. She breathed deeply as she spoke. "C-call Benjamin Linus." Ben was adopting Shasta's children, as Shasta felt that she couldn't keep them safe. She tried to remember the story she had been told to tell if anybody asked.

Her face was turning rather blue and her breathing slowed until she was barely breathing at all. She already had breathing problems, plus the ribs that were broken when she was young and never tended to, but now she had decreased chest volume due to pregnancy. She was on the verge of passing out.

Dr. James

Just shortly after Eva came to look after Shasta, Dr. James made his appearance, adjusting his glasses on his long nose and muttering under his breath about inefficient nursing staff, who hadn't let him know about Shasta. Coming into the room and immediately snapping an order at a nurse for oxygen for the young woman, he turned a more courteous face toward Eva and murmured, "Thank you for looking after her, Eva. Nurse Bonswell just informed me that she was here... I'll take over now. Go see to your patient. I understand she's a little worse off." And with that, he and the team of nurses began to take Shasta's vitals, including one nurse who began to install a noseline for oxygen and speak softly and reassuringly to Shasta to help calm her.

Shasta Wild

Shasta laid there, gasping. "I...I knew I was...gonna die." She managed to speak only those words before she began convulsing. Please help me. She wanted to speak, but she couldn't even think.

Dr. James

"Oh, no you don't. Not on me." Dr. James muttered that, half to her and half to himself, before he snapped, "Get me a crash cart in here! Two pediatric, fourteen megs, double stats, magnum ret four oh seven. BID mat twenty six!" These orders got a snap out of everyone in the room, with this team getting her out of the wheelchair and onto a table, and a second ran for a defibrillator on a cart, and yet another began preparations for the C-section that would likely be needed if she continued to convulse or lost consciousness.

At the same time, Dr. James was loading up a labor friendly seizure-suppressant, but like all medications approved for pregnancy, it was mild. His main concern right now was with her air intake and pulse... unfortunately, in a situation like this, his instincts as a doctor told him to get those babies out now and send them away to someone who wasn't busy while he fought to save the mother. And that was what he began to do as they got her all prepped and injected a painkiller, but didn't have time to wait for it to take... she would just have to pray to god that it kicked in, because with several people at each limb to hold her steady, a small team of surgeons were getting ready to deliver her children the hard way, to rid her body of a stressor so that she could recover her own health.

Shasta Wild

The convulsions didn't stop for a long time, and when they finally did, she was unconscious. She didn't want to relive this again. The same thing happened with her first child. Her body couldn't handle children. They would have to do a C-section.

Dr. James

With all the worst case scenario flags rolling, Dr. James and his team soon had her belly open and began delivering her children. It didn't take more than five minutes to get both babies and get her sewn back together again, after which the babies were carted off to the NICU and the efforts concentrated on the mother. In the middle of ordering a round of fluids to combat shock, Dr. James grabbed a nurse's arm and told her to fetch something else. With her scurrying away, Dr. James and the team went about doing what they could to stabilize her and work about saving her life.

Shasta Wild

After many long, tense minutes, Shasta woke up and saw the doctors around her. "Wh-where are my children?! Did he get them?! Did he steal my babies?!" He voice was very weak, almost a whisper, but it was as if she was trying to scram. She thought the worst had happened. She figured the Akatsukis had kidnapped her children.

Dr. James

He'd half expected this panic from her, and had a nurse at hand to answer these questions. She had a soft voice and a kind face, and she murmured, "It's alright, dear... you have two healthy little babies. Small, but then they are premature. The pediatric nurses are taking care of them, and they're going to be alright. Just try to relax, okay?" As she said that, someone injected a mild sedative into the IV line that had been installed to give the girl her fluids. It wasn't strong enough to knock her out or take her senses from her, but it was made to made her drowsy and to help her relax so her body could recuperate. This went in with a veritable cocktail of painkillers and things to support her post-partum body, just to be sure that she would be well.

Shasta Wild

Even in her state, Shasta remembered the story she had been given. "Where's my father?" She was giving these children to Ben, her 'father' in this little plot of theirs, as she knew she could not take care of them. "Is he here yet?"

Dr. James

Hearing this request from her, the woman leaned over her chart, running her finger down the column, and then looking up calmly at the girl. "He's been contacted, dear. I'm sure he'll be here soon. Try to relax, okay? You've had a long day."
