Benjamin L.

It wasn't all too rare for the man to get battered. Occassionally, he messed with someone who called his bluffs or, in this case, with an animal that wouldn't back down. Though the pain was great, he took satisfaction in the knowledge that he had ultimately won, and Nightfall had been taken down despite her valiant efforts.

Sure that he had some broken or fractured ribs along his right side, Benjamin relented to going to the hospital. With Tom to help him, the two entered the main lobby, seeking out the nearest source of help...

Eva

Her heels clicked on the tile floor, and she walked towards the counter again. Eli Fisher is finished. She said to the girl behind the counter. Then her eyes lifted to Ben. I'm guessing your my next patient. Follow me please. She had long, sure steps. Confidence radiated off of her like the sun, and her eyes were that of cool water. She stepped into a room, quite like the one she had taken Eli into, and said to the two men, her back turned to them Take his shirt off. Quiet. Calm. Proffesional. She could work under any confition.

With a single nod to acknowledge her orders, Ben followed after Eva, with Tom trailing along close behind. Though he tried to walk straight, the pain forced him to hunch slightly and stagger in his pace. But he made it to the room, refusing help from the older man.

When Eva gave the next orders, Tom looked at Ben in surprise, as if he wasn't sure if he should be doing that. But the slightly annoyed look that Ben returned was enough to convince Tom, so he obligingly removed the grass and dirt-stained shirt as carefully as he could while Ben gritted his teeth against the pain.

"Uh, I could wait outside if you want..." Tom hedged, as he got to looking around the room some more. Needles. The potential for seeing blood. The big guy didn't do well around those sorts of things. Even seeing the remnants of the old bullet wound in Ben's shoulder made the old man nervous.

"For heaven's sake, Tom, go sit in the waiting room before you passout." Ben growled impatiently, finding his temper less than manageable with the fire at his side. Sparing a glance to his wounded ribs, he could see where the hooves had hit, leaving large purple-red welts. Underneath, he could only imagine the bones had fractured or broken under the forceful impact, though he hoped that was the worse of the damage.

She shook her head and snapped at Tom Go sit down, before you fall down. She had a scowl on her face, for she could not tolerate the stupid. And this one here was very stupid, standing in front...Or behind, a horse like he had. Her hands were gentle on Bens ribs, and in a slightly apologetic tone she said Our x-ray machine is down. One of the interns...Pressed a button she shouldn't have. Again with the stupidity. She slid her soft hand along Bens ribs, every now and again stopping and writing something down on her notepad. Finally she stood up and said You have one cracked rib, and another thats broken. I need you to sit very still. She went to the cabinets and opened them, coming back with bandages and a cream in her hands. She smeared the cream all across his ribs, and partially his stomach. If you move to much, that broken rib is going to pierce your lung. A warning. The cream was cool, but heated up like Vicks Vapor rub does. She then applied the bandage, tight, but not so tight he couldn't breathe. It was severly uncomforable, this she knew. She had gotten broken ribs from a car crash. Take this *hands him a slip of paper* to the front counter. They'll give you the medication you need. Take the bandage off for an hour a day. No more. She looked at Ben, as if to say Any questions?

He could very well control his emotions, but not the rapid drumming of his heart or the telling paleness of his face. When she touched him, Ben flinched from not only the pain, but from the contact of her hand - he just wasn't a touchy-feely sort of person, and wasn't comfortable with being physically handled by strangers. Mentally cursing the intern for breaking the machine, Benjamin endured the examination without complaint, though a slightly shaken voice was enough to show that the pain was getting to him.

"Thank you." The man said in a quick voice, taking the paper and standing up slowly, keeping in mind what she said about the broken rib. As much as he wanted to find out more about this supposed Mafia activity in Atroe, he knew he couldn't afford to tangle with them in this condition. With a vague look of appriciation, Ben gingerly exited the room and headed for the counter to pick up his medicine.
