Shasta walked to the counter with her dog and spoke quietly, so nobody else would hear. "Could I see Mikhail Bakunin, please? I'm a friend." She said quietly. She wondered if the doctors were even finished with him yet.
She followed her new friend, her pockets heavier now that she had caught up with Shasta. She set her new puppy down, and said Kangee. Sit. Then looked up to the woman behind the counter. And ah... Lets keep it between us three. She said. She slid a fifty across the counter with a smile. She was one of the best pick pockets around. Nothing was safe from her quick fingers. The womans eyes widened, and she began to lead them down the hall....
Kangee didn't know what that word meant, but Hunter's personality told him that it was time to be calm. So he stood at her feet, silently.
Shasta smiled at Hunter's trick and followed the woman. Mouse walked alongside Shasta.
Well, it wasn't a sit but it worked.
As they walked, Hunter said so that only Shasta could hear Shasta. If I could get us a house, but did it illegally, would you do it?
She was talking about hacking into other peoples accounts and stealing money, putting it into offshore accounts, and then going and buying a nicer home with Shasta out in the country, maybe near Ben and Mikhail.
Shasta's eyes widened. "Illegally, no. But I have a bunch of money my mom left me. A bunch. We're talking half a million here." She said back, speaking in the same quiet tone.
The nurse picked filed through a few folders before picking one up, "...ah, here we are. Mr. Bakunin." Looking through a few notes, she gave a little smile and stepped out from behind a desk, "Right this way." The nurse lead them down a series of halls, before stopping at room 215. With another polite smile, she left them be and returned to her desk.
Inside the room, a rather unhappy-looking Mikhail was laying on a bed, with an IV drip connected to his hand. He was dressed up in the typical hospital gowns, and lacking his usual eye-patch. He'd be plenty irritated when he woke up and realized that it was missing.
Shasta's face lit up when they reached the room, even before she entered it. She knew Mikhail probably still hated her. But when did that stop her? Never. She entered the room, a bit worried about what he would say to her until she noticed that he was asleep. "This is my fault..." She said to herself. She had been repeating that line all day. She walked closer and sat down on a chair, waiting for him to wake up.
The sound of another's voice slowly roused the man from his sleep. An eye flickered open, as he looked groggily about, "Gde - ja ...?" As the location dawned on him, Mikhail attempted to raise himself up in the bed, only to be stopped by the sudden pain that twisted his face into an agonized grimace.
Easing back down, he suddenly noticed that there was someone sitting beisde his bed. In fact... there were two people. "Chto Vy delaete zdes'?" He questioned with notable alarm, then focused on Hunter, "Kto - ona?" His breath was a bit short, but for having been shot twice, he looked realtively good.
Shasta tried to hide her sorrow, but it was hard. "I'm sorry. All this is my fault and--" She paused, as if deep in thought. "Does it hurt?" She then asked.
Pulling out of the dreariness of sleep, Mikhail realized that he had spoken in Russian. No doubt, the girls had no clue what he had just said. Watching Shasta with a narrowed eye, he was taken back by her last question. "I'm sure you can attest to that..." He glanced briefly to her arm, where he had shot her, ", yes, it does." Ben might have her figured out pretty well, but Mikhail was still trying to make out the situation.
He looked warily to Hunter, then back to Shasta, "Where are the others... what happened?" The last thing he knew, he had heard gunshots, he had pointed at the bag... and now he was here.
Shasta cringed when Mikhail answered her question. "If it makes you feel any better, my dad is dead. He won't be shooting you anymore." She replied, covering the wound on her arm with her hand. And then came Mikhail's question. "They're looking for the girl. I think she's alive." She wanted her and her friends to get out of here as soon as possible. Then again, she dreaded all the trouble Mike would cause when he saw them again.
A wry smirk rose on his face when she made the comment about her father. While he hadn't heard the reasons why she hated her father, it seemed to him that she wasn't too remorseful over his passing. A good thing too, because Mikhail would have sought out James to kill him.
"I have to admit, you are very resilliant." The man said after a moment in a sort of compliment, seeing as how she coped rather well to having been held hostage twice, and shot once. And still she was here, when others would have been fed up with it and either called the cops or tried to kill him. This was interesting. Maybe this lady wasn't so bad to have around.
"Ben and the boy are looking for Miss Sanchez? I thought she was dead... why do they suspect she lives?" He asked next, before realizing that he didn't have his eyepatch on. His single eye darted about the room a frantic moment, as he silently cursed the medical staff for ever taking it off of him. Finally he spotted it, sitting on a nearby table. "Could you hand that to me, please?"
Shasta smiled at his compliment. It was true. She never gave up. Her brother surely would have tried to kill him by now, and her father would have him in jail. Altogether, she was glad James wasn't around anymore.
"All I know is that he got a phone call." She replied. "And then he said to the boy, 'Where would your father likely have Aralyn?' Then they left." She had caught only this, but it was enough for her to assume that the girl was alive. She turned around, grabbed the eyepatch and handed it to Mikhail. "I can't wait until we can get out of here..." She said under her breath. She had nothing against any of the people here. It was just that all these people in one place made her uncomfortable.
Putting the patch on, Mikhail listened closely to her words. He was still in the dark as far as to what happened, but apparently Conan and Benjamin got out of it fine. The brother still worried him, but Ben probably had that under control. Now, to figure out this whole Aralyn business.
Before he could do that though, he had to solve the dilemna of being in the hospital. Much like Shasta, Mikhail didn't like being around so many people; he liked his space. And the longer he stayed here, the more that they would pry into his life, and the more potential there was for him slipping up in the lie that Ben wove.
"My feelings are much the same as yours, Miss Wild. And there is little I can do for Ben here." He gave a glance around, before turning his attention to the IV. Moving steadily despite his fatigue, Mikhail slipped the needle from his hand, pressing down on the bandage for a few minutes to stop any bleeding. "Do either of you drive?" He asked, assuming he could trust Shasta that Hunter was 'trustable'. "We will need a diversion so I can get out of here." He was in poor shape to be getting up and sprinting around the hospital, but if they provided a good distraction, he could try and get out in before anyone stopped him.
Shasta nodded. "I drive." She replied, then grinned slyly. "I'm sure we can get you out of here." She said, looking around the room. "Hunter got me out quite nicely." She paused, looking off into the distance as she always did. "I don't know if it'll work, but I've got a plan." She lowered her voice, so only Hunter and Mikhail could hear. "I brought Mouse here. If I can get him to cause a bunch of trouble, the doctors will be focusing on me so you can get out. I'll catch up when you're safe." Once again, that evil smile crossed her face. "How about I have him 'attack' me?"
So, Hunter is her name. Mikhail picked up, giving the other a long, contemplating look before focusing in on Shasta's plan. Then he gave a single nod, "It seems fitting that your Mouse would be a part of this escape." He commented, remembering back to how Mouse was the cause of Shasta meeting him in the first place.
Pulling back the covers, Mikhail slowly swung his long legs around and pushed himself up to a sitting position. A grimace came to his face again at the pain such movements caused. But he had been through worse when he fought in Afganistan; surely, he could handle these latest wounds. It also helped that he was trained in field medicine.
The Russian stood up quickly, only to collapse promptly onto his knees with a sharp curse. Hand cradled over his chest, he spat out another foreign curse before leaning against the bed, "A wheelchair... Hunter will have to push me out." The wounds were worse than he thought. He was still all for escaping the hospital, but he would need help.
Shasta sighed. "Alright." She said calmly, but it was obvious that she was upset. It bothered her that James took Mikhail's freedom away. "Is there anything you would like to add, Hunter?"
A dark smile crossed her lips, and she looked at Draco. Play with Mouse. She said pointing at the larger dog. Then she looked to Shasta. Have you ever tried to catch to playing dogs when they don't want to be caught? Her evil grin spread and she slipped from the room, coming back with a wheel chair. If this doesn't work, I can always play as a slut again She shrugged. Whatever it took to get this guy out. She'd help her new sister.
Kangee, hadn't yet learned the word 'play,' but Mouse knew it very well. He wagged his tail and chased the wolf pup through the hall. Shasta ran out too, acting as if the dogs were chasing her. To Mouse and Kangee, though, it was only a game. To them, it was tag. This'll get their attention. She thought, hiding the grin on her face.
He fell silent when the two began to discuss their plans, hoping that whatever they did would work. Moving slow, Mikhail picked himself up and sat back heavily into the wheelchair, gritting his teeth against the pain. When he was finally situated, he gave a nod, "I'm ready whenever you are." Mikhail announced, looking almost hesitantly from Hunter to Shasta. It was all up to them now, as he could do little in his condition.
She checked the doorway and was pleased to see all the nurses chasing the dogs and Shasta. Hold on. REALLY. Hold on. Then getting behind him, she took a deep breath and moved quickly...Quickly.... Until they were sprinting down the hall. Suddenly a nurse jumped in front of them, and with a curse, Hunter pulled back and turned sharply, heading down the wrong hallway but not to worry. She knew the hospital like the back of her hand. Racing them down this hallway, she could hear the nurse running behind her. Hold on... She whispered. Then made a hard right doing her best and not tipping over Mikhail. The doorway in front of them, she put on her last bit of energy and out the door to freedom they were.
Now they just had to wait for Shasta.
Shasta quickly spun around, the canines following her. She sped out the door, waking several twists and turns in an attempt to lose the nurses and doctors. Then she met up with Hunter and Mikhail. "I...I'm ready..." She sighed, exhausted.
Mikhail almost regretted the escape, finding the rushed sprint through the hospital almost more than he could bare. But he endured without so much as a word until the three rendezvoued outside.
"They will be after us still. We need a vehicle - a small one that can handle rough terrain." He explained quickly, eyes shifting over the various cars in the parking lot.
She gave an evil grin, her energy still high. That was the thing about Hunter. She was ALWAYS hyper. Got it covered. She ran off, disappearing for a moment. Suddenly the sounds of an alarm going off then silenced could be heard, followed by screaming tires. Hunter was suddenly in front of them, a huge grin on her face. My dad taught me how to do that. Get in.
That mischievous grin spread across Shasta's face again. She lifted Kangee into the car, then got in herself, followed by Mouse. "Let's get out of here."
Lurching out of the wheelchair, Mikhail nearly fell again. Considerably hunched over, he shuffled towards the vehicle and practically fell into the back seat. After slamming the door shut and easing back against the seat, let out a wheezing breath.
"North along... 99." He managed after a minute, speaking about Highway 99. He'd give Hunter further instructions as they went, until they reached his house.
I know the way. She said in a light tone. Her driving was just like her running.
Fast and reckless. It took her half the time it would normally take to get to Mikhails house. Such was Hunters way.
