Johnathon Johnson
The nineteen year old hadn't wanted to take a 'real' job, favoring instead to join in the lucrative business of gang work. He hadn't been with the CrypticSilvers for long, but he was already making enough side money, and while he still lived at his mother's house, he honestly didn't need to take on another work place; it was only the fact that his mother didn't know he'd joined a gang that forced John to look for a place to work, so that he could account for the money he was spending.
The young man, with a short mop of sandy-brown hair, had enough experience with horses at his own ranch to know the basics of caring for equines. And where other jobs at the local shops in Atroe weren't exactly appealing to him, John felt more at home working at a place like this. Pulling up in the driveway, John parked and stepped out of his truck, and proceeded onward to the front door. After giving it a few raps, he waited patiently for a response.

At first, the knocking at the door was answered by nothing but the sounds of many dogs barking just inside the door. Though, soon the dogs were hushed and the sound of footsteps on a hard wood floor could be heard. After the dogs were quieted down, it was not very long before the door was opened. A very slender teen opened the door with a smile on her face.
Recently they had put up an ad on the local bulletin board that they were looking for some stable hands. So, as Kayla saw this boy who was probably about her own age she assumed that was what he was here for. She held the door open as she stepped outside on to the porch, letting the dogs out. The porch had some chairs and such on it so she invited the boy to sit down.
Hi, I'm Kayla Anderson...
Introductions were made as she herself sat down. Sure, most people would just invite others inside, but the weather was nice and Kayla herself would much rather be outside any way, so she hoped that this boy would not mind. She didn't go on to say anything else until the other stated his business here. The canines all milled about the porch, sniffing the new person with wagging tails. The tiger striped and white cat who lived in the barn made his way up on the porch and jumped up on Kayla's lap purring loudly.

'This place looks spacious. Good, sounds like they have some dogs.' While he waited for the door to be answered, the teen took note of the things around him, from what he could see of the property from here, to the barking of the canines inside. Having dogs at his own farm, this made John smile at the thought that he might have some canine company while he worked - that is, if he got the job. He was pretty sure the flier hadn't been up too long, and could only hope that the position wasn't already filled by someone else.
"Johnathon Johnson." The tan gave a smile and a nod of his head to Kayla, and extended a friendly handshake to her. And then, following her unspoken invitation to sit down, John found himself a chair and eased back into it. It was brisk, but for a pre-spring day, it was a nice as could be - the sun was warm and shining, and there was only a faint breeze blowing; enough to be refreshing without chilling. "I saw an ad down town, and I was hoping to talk to you about that." Getting down to business after the introductions were made, John told her why he was here, "I've grown up with horses, so I know a thing or two about how to care for them."

As she had sat down on the chair the tiger striped cat had made it's self at home like he normally did on her lap. He did not like living in the house, he was more accustomed to living in the barn, but he was very friendly and never passed up an opportunity to get some attention. The other cats tended to stay mainly in the house or on the porch, though. The dogs ignored the cat like always, all of them were very good with other animals and people, plus they had been taught from very young how to behave around horses, a must if they were to stay with these girls.
They, however did not ignore the guy who also sat down in a chair on the porch. Most of them just sniffed at him and tried to get his attention, though Reba hung back a little. The old hound was not as young as she used to be and even though she was still full of life, she tended to hang back until things calmed just a bit. Angel on the other hand, the Basset Hound puppy, jumped all over the man, baying with excitement.
Kayla would have called them off but he did not seem to mind, and if he was going to be working here then he would have to get used to them all. And as he spoke, he said that he was indeed here to answer her bulletin. That was great! All of the horses were a bit much for just two people to completely care for. Sure, they could do it but they thought it would be better for there to be more people so they could get better care.
Nice to meet you, Jonathan... We are still looking for someone to fill the position.
She thought it best that she let him know the position was still open. Then he continued on to say that he grew up around horses. Well, Kayla had as well so she knew that he had some pretty good experience. After all, it was one thing to grow up around horses and a completely different thing to just have been around them a few times.
Well, I would like to show you around some and let you meet the horses before I decide whether or not to hire you for sure.
This was about the most business like as you would ever hear this girl, but it was called for right now. The horses were the most important thing right now and he wanted to see the boy with them before she decided. Though, she would wait to see if he would agree with a tour first.

Aside from horses, cats and dogs were a familiar presence to the teenager. For as long as he could remember, they had always had an assortment of barn cats and farm dogs running about their residence, so he was no stranger to being swarmed by the animals, nor was he unfamiliar with how to deal with them as well as he did with the horses. "You're a young one, aren't you?" A smiling grin brightened John's face while he reached over to scrub at Angel's head and lavish her with a bit of attention. "What's this one's name?" His main goal was to see if he could get the job of course, but he knew it wouldn't hurt to try and get to know the various people and creatures he'd be working around, if he indeed did get to work here.
With a side glance, his eyes turned towards Reba. Common sense and a lifetime of being around canines told him that this canine was more reserved, and he wouldn't try to interact with her without her first coming to him. As he tried to soak up all the new faces around him and get a feel for the creatures that roamed this place, Kayla led him to the next step of the evaluation process - meeting the horses that he'd ultimately be working with, if they decided to hire him. "Sure, of course. How many horses do you have?"

Kayla sat stroking the cat as the Basset Hound puppy jumped all over the boy and the others milled around waiting for attention from the new comer. She heard the boy speak to the Basste Hound puppy as he reached down to pet her for a bit. Then he spoke to her once again, asking what her name was and Kayla smiled as she replied. That is Angel. She looked to the other dogs and decided that she should introduce them as well, since he would more than likely be coming into contact with all of them on a normal basis if he did begin working here.
She began introducing the dogs one by one. That is Jayla the pointed to the blue merle Aussie. The other Aussie is Rose. She then looked to the two Icelandic Sheepdogs Those two are Calypso and Trick... Calypso is the darker one with shorter fur. Next was Nutmeg, who was maybe the most unusual to see on a farm like this. That is Nutmeg, and this old girl is Reba. She might take a bit to warm up to you, but if you are around the horses then she is definitely the one you will see the most. She loves them. The last one she had spoken of was the old hound who still hung back some.
After introductions to the dogs had been made she had suggested going to meet the horses and he had agreed. She then placed the cat who had been sitting on her lap on the ground as she stood up to lead him to the barn. As he followed she heard him ask how many horses they had. We currently have 21 in total. We have eleven mares, eight stallions, and two foals. Most are Quarter Horses or Paints. She spoke without the slightest hesitation, she knew exactly how many they had without even having to think about it.
As they reached the barn she walked in and was greeted by many of the horses poking their heads over the stall doors. She pointed out the tack room and supply room as they entered and showed him where things were kept before returning to the main part of the stable where the horses were.
